Kettner Exchange Ratings and Reviews
It’s more of a wine/drinks place. Not a big menu choice which is real disappointing, for the amount of money you are spending there, there should be more of a variety. Over all staff is real nice and the place is beautiful. Great for anniversary’s or birthdays. Good for drinks. Place is over all coming op vibes
Fabulous grazing small plates with great hand-crafted cocktails. It was exquisite - but in a comfortable and elegant low key environment. Service was perfect - helpful and attentive. Loved the creative menu and would definitely come back from Irvine for such an amazing dining experience.
Everything was expensive, you tried to your best not to fill the drink glass. The servers tried their best to get us out of there asap and ready the table for the next group. the restaurant design and location is all the good points you have.
l will post me comments on yelp as well when l get a chance.
Huge disappointment. I hear nothing but good things about this place and decided it was time to see for myself with my bestie to treat ourselves for our 20 year frienniversary. I made a reservation for 6:45 on a Saturday and they even called the day before to confirm and ask if there was anything special we were celebrating and I said, "yes." We arrived right on time and were seated immediately by two very lovely hostesses.
After 15 minutes of sitting and desperately trying to make eye-contact with a waitress wiping fingerprints off an empty table and a waitress that walked by several times helping the table next to us without so much as a glance in our direction, that I went to the hostess to let them know that we hadn't even been given water yet let alone acknowledged by someone to say they'd be right there. For clarity, the dining room we were sitting in was not busy, with maybe a total of 4 couples including us.
When someone finally showed up we were pushing 20 minutes. They apologized, but to be perfectly honest, it was the waitress helping the table next to us who walked by several times and could clearly see we had nothing but empty glasses on the table. We made a decision to order drinks but decided we would not willingly spend our money on dinner. Luckily, we called around to Ironside to explain our situation and they very graciously fit us in for dinner, which was amazing!
There are so many restaurants in Little Italy that offer amazing food but what sets apart the good ones is the extra special touch they add with stellar service by people who seem to like their jobs. The waitress who helped us seemed like she drew the last straw and ended up with us which didn't feel great considering we had mentioned in the reservation that we were out to celebrate something special and it was our first time there. Once was enough for me.
We had a fantastic experience at KEX! Our server walked us through the menu and suggested we get two small plates per person so we could experience the whole menu. This resulted in us getting 8 dishes and wow wow wow! The serve sent them out in the perfect order allowing our pallets to fully enjoy. 6 of the dishes were seafood and perfect for our pescatarian friend. The raw fish dishes used top quality fish and were a nice spin on eating shashimi. We haven’t stopped raving about the experience since we left. Extremely fair pricing and outstanding service, ambiance, and overall time!!!
wonderful tastes in a terrific variety of small plates. but small plates they are. Even the full plates are small. don't come hungry, but if you do, come with plenty of $. We were there on a quiet tuesday night, but it looks like a hip busy popular bar scene for other days.
Decided on a new place for a birthday adventure. Everyone was vert pleased with the food, staff and ease of ambiance. As is the case with the new decor, lighting was too dim to read a menu but that's why everyone has mobile phones. Definitely would recommend to others and we all look forward to going back again.
We had made reservations for four but brought 5 last minute. Unknown to us they had their second floor reserved for a private party and were very limited in space. They went out of their way to accommodate our party of 5, although we had to wait an extra 10 minutes , they bought us one round of drinks. Amazing customer service. You add that to the ambience and amazing food (we tried 6 dishes and not one was disappointing). Great flavors. A bonus was there were fireworks over the harbor that were visible from our table. Overall Amazing dining experience.
They have a great atmosphere, if you reserve seating outdoor, upstairs.
The Menu is limited, mostly Tapas/small plates, but each we tried (3) was really interesting and delicious. The BIG plates were just okay.
The cocktails were good, but the tiny drinks were overpriced.
Enjoyed our night here, it was our anniversary and they took care of us. I forget our servers name but she took excellent care of us.
We enjoyed the food selections, we tried 5 small plates for variety. A bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was $50.
The ambiance of the place was excellent as was the music selection. We were there on a Tuesday and heard The Clash, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Simple Minds & The Doors at a volume that didn't interfere with conversation.
WE went here in a party of four; great atmosphere upstairs, not too crowded on a Monday night. Our server was very attentive, explaining all the menu items. We enjoyed both soft shell crab preparations, the cauliflower, the steak and the pork chop. Ample sizes to share.
We were not as impressed with the dessert - a deconstructed banana / chocolate dish; seemed like too much going on, but it was tasty and we shared it easily.
Tab for all with two cocktails and two glasses of wine was about $200, but it was worth it!
We went on a Monday night and there were only a small number of tables filled. Our server was very nice but he was bringing out the food too slowly so we asked him to bring out the food sooner and he did. The restaurant and outdoor patio are beautiful and I did love the atmosphere more than anything. Would love to go back and just hang out in the patio bar/restaurant. The food was to die for.
