About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Romantic
  • Neighborhood gem
Taking its name from its location, Kepos Street Kitchen is situated in the inner Sydney suburb of Redfern and is chef Michael Rantissi’s first restaurant. The dishes served at Kepos Street Kitchen are designed to share so the diner can maximise their dining experience. Dishes have a Mediterranean influence with a modern Middle Eastern twist. This is food that Michael grew up with whilst learning to cook in his mother’s kitchen in Israel. The ingredients - all top quality and locally sourced - will be familiar, but the combinations are anything but. Kepos Street Kitchen has an interesting wine, beer and cocktail list, both locally and internationally sourced.

Supporting our wonderful local restaurant in times like these is very important. Kepos Street Kitchen is great place for so many reasons - the first being the fabulous food, closely followed by the service and ambience. Fingers crossed they can ride out the Virus storm and be there for us all on the other side....

Kepos Street Kitchen is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is always fresh and healthy, an innovative take on Middle Eastern food. The staff are lovely, so helpful.

The food was food but the service was terrible. Our waiter had a lot of attitude and didn’t make us feel welcome. He also kept reminding us that we had to leave after 2 hours.

We had dinner here for the first time and the food was excellent! Fresh, well seasoned, delicious and interesting! There were a couple of small negatives though- it was quite noisy tonight. We also felt a little rushed, although it was understandable as we only had a 2 hour sitting. Overall, would definitely come back and recommend to others!

I'm not sure why I've never been here before, but I can promise this- I will absolutely be back. The food was astounding, so fresh and flavourful. We had the Chef's Tasting plate and were so glad we did, since we got to try things we'd likely otherwise not have ordered. Get the cauliflower salad. I dream about it.

The article in the news paper said it was Jerusalem inspired food from the owners upbringing? I’m still trying to figure out what part of Jerusalem this menu was based on as apart from homous falafel and the labneh the rest of the menu was more Sydney bistro. It was a waste of time and money

We enjoyed the friendly, attentive service and the food was fresh, tasty and beautifully prepared. in total we had 11 dishes and 10 of those were very delicious. The 11th dish, knafe dessert, we found too sweet. The BYO policy is an important incentive as we enjoy good wine and the BYO system allows us to enjoy great wine at a reasonable price.
