Tuesday - Sunday, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Shu was our sushi chef for the night and he was just as wonderful as the food he served us. Such an incredible experience. Went for our anniversary and were seated at the bar. Loved every minute of it.
Fabulous food and great presentations. Very attentive staff.
Pricey but the food is worth it.
Only criticism is the wine list is very expensive - a $95 Gewürztraminer and a $75 corkage
Pros - The servers were incredible. They were very attentive and friendly. They made the evening worthwhile more than the food itself. They provided history, explanations, and even visuals for the food that was being presented. This made it even more special. The restaurant is very clean and fresh. The sushi was excellent
Cons - The price was way too high for what we had. The clams were not that great and they even served a dish with shredded potatoes which I believe were uncooked. We had two different broths of which the first was good but the second was too rich after eating so many courses. We had higher expectations based on the price and the Michelin star. And this isn't the first Michelin star restaurant we have visited either. Sadly, we felt we could have had the same if not better sushi at a sushi restaurant we regularly visit at least 6-7 times for what we paid. I'm sorry, we just didn't see the value vs the cost. Overall, it just wasn't that impressive to us.
Now with all that said, it could be that we are not of Japanese descent and perhaps they are spot on with traditional faire and could be appreciated more by someone of that culture.
Had the sushi kaiseki. Absolutely amazing.
Kenzo is like stepping into a lovely retreat. It is an escape from the chaos of the world where you can focus on exquisitely prepared food, flawless never intrusive service, and fine wine. I celebrated my Birthday there and had a wonderful time.
An absolutely incredible experience. A true Michelin star experience. The food was as amazing as the service. We felt like the whole dining experience was designed especially for us. Loved it!
Second time here for our 20th anniversary and everything about it was wonderful…
My husband and I were very satisfied with Kenzo restaurant’s high quality of food and service. We like their Omotenashi—Japanese hospitality and respect.
The most stellar service experience and most memorable meal I’ve ever had!
Amazing experience in every regard - from seervice to food and presentation- worth every penny!
Kenzo Estate のワイナリーツアーが
Great wine- good service but strangely slow in the second half. Way overpriced. Food is not all that. Rather fly to Japan..
This restaurant may work in Tokyo or London, but not so much in Napa. Its atmosphere is library quiet while jazz, of all things, is played at low tones in the background. Sushi is excellent, but expensive and served sans soy and wasabi and generally unsauced as well. This is very Japanese, but plain and may leave many Americans unsatisfied. The sake list is expensive, albeit well thought out. For the Napa Valley, there is little genuine fun here as the place takes itself too seriously. Morimoto is far more enjoyable, but admittedly far less genuine. My ultimate comment would be that if I wanted this kind of experience, I would head for Tokyo, which I love. Here, this place falls short of the promise of its astronomical prices.
Food was authentic Japanese, the sushi chef was very experienced and pleasant to talk to. The sake, wine and seating were all exquisite!! Awesome Maitre’D! Fantastic experience!!
Excellent food and service. It is an amazing experience.
Unbelievable dining experience from top to bottom. We will definitely be back for special occasions. Price is high but well worth it due to quality of food, wine/sake & service. It felt like we each had our own personal butler to catered to all our needs. Great job to Kenzo Estates! Bravo!
They deal with foods with high quality.but, someting missing.
maybe chef is different.
Not same last time.last time is more wonderful.
I'm came birthday dinner but nothing special and didn't tell me happy birthday. other people is birthday too. They are get it. Chef is not care about me.
The chef was talking a lot with other people
Feel unhappy dinner.
and expensive payment. Maybe not comeback
This was by far the best and most authentic Japanese food experience I've ever had. The wine/sake pairings (reserve) was a great addition to the Kaiseki meal. I can't recommend this place enough. Once you step into the restaurant you could swear you were in Tokyo. The service is every bit as gracious and welcoming as the food.
This is magnificent dining, on par with the best in Japan. It is one of those experiences that reminds you life is worth living - at any price.
Service wise?......almost flawless, we just love it! Food?.....good flavors, we thought some are highlighted with the wine and sake paired w/ it...but not all ....serving is kinda small, taste bites maybe....Place?.... neat and minimalistic.....w/c we thought i s a good thing, when you want to focus on each food. Price? .......... hmmmmmm we thought it’s over priced..... almost $900 for 2?, anyway , it was a good thing, our server was really.......again..... really good!
Best meal I’ve had in my life.
Service is excellent!
This was the most amazing and memorable dinner we have ever experienced. We matched it with an afternoon tasting at Kenzo vineyards which was sublime. Each serving at dinner was a work of art. Our sushi master provided a story for each phase. It was an expensive day but we will never forget our 40th Anniversary at the Kenzo Estate and dinner.
Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Service was flawless and the interaction with the chefs at the counter elevated the experience. The chefs were so accommodating and friendly and very talented. The dining room is minimalistic and elegant and felt truly authentic. This is a premiere destination in Napa and more than deserved it’s Michelin Star. If they keep pushing and elevating, they could be the only 2 Star in Napa next year. Arguably the best experience in Napa right now.
Amazing in all aspects . Everything was fantastic. Fish quality was superior. very traditional which we appreciated and loved .
Kenzo was fantastic. One of the best dining experiences in Napa Valley, and certainly stands out even from the high quality offerings of Californian, Italian and French cuisines in the region. The food was exquisite, beautiful and a truly exalted experience. The staff was attentive, loved to tell engaging stories about the origins and meanings of dishes and wines, and the best part was the chef, who both created the exquisite menu and also was so wonderfully personable. The chef was so down to earth that we were amazed to learn after the meal that he has helmed a three Michelin star restaurant, started a two-star restaurant, and just earned one star for Kenzo after only one year. This was one of the best meals I have had anywhere in the world and probably the best meal so far in Napa Valley.
This is a great restaurant! I would say better than Morimoto. The staff was VERY attentive but not hovering, giving you space for a intimate conversation but if you need them they are right there coming your way. We had the lucky experience of having Mai take care of us and she is SUPERB!! Very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very fresh and one of a kind. The sushi chef that took care of us was also very knowledgeable and taught us a lot of the different kinds of fish and it’s origin. There was a lot more food and 3 kinds of desserts!! Thank you very much to Kenzo and staff!!!
Great Experience! Excellent quality in a friendly atmosphere.
Unsure / Intimidated / New to Japanese cuisine = Don't be, you will be guided with a gentle overview of what to expect or a reassured statement of "you'll want to try this"...
Food = A wonderful evening and culinary journey of a perfectly prepared and served 9 course Japanese meal. The resturant is bright and new (spotless) with appropriate decor maintaining your focus on the master piece which is in front of you.
Service = My wife and I strongly believe we should stick with what we are good at so leaving the decision making and beaverage mixing to the highly trained in unchartered waters was the perfect choice. She thought she only liked Chardonnay, no longer, my wife has 4 new favorites.
Cost = If you are looking for the highest quality service, food and knowledgable servers to explain what you are consuming, then the value is spot on. If you are looking for something less then this; visit the many locations in this are that "everyone" goes to eat. If you want to treat him or her or yourself to something "Special" try Kenzo. This was our first time and most defiantly not our last. Thank you / Arigato!
The most amazing dining experience we have ever had. The complexity of the flavors of each bite were mind blowing and incredible. We loved every bite of it and the service was professional and friendly. BTW, sit at the bar!
Everything was so good
Beautiful presentations entice the eyes but leave the palate wanting. Subtle and balanced flavors were found in each bite of the mostly fish tasting menu. While pleasant enough, the small imami portions did not rouse my tastebuds until the tasty Waygu beef arrived. Perhaps in fairness this visit to Kenzo occurred right after my week in Kauai, where I enjoyed excellent fresh, local fish almost every day. Nonetheless, the service at Kenzo was outstanding. The decor is brightly upbeat, simple and elegant . One unusually special touch is the color brochure of the featured menu items that accompanied the personalized printed menu page.
We’re lucky to have this restaurant in Napa.
Kenzo was amazing. A true treat and something out of the ordinary. It was worth every penny. We loved the ambiance and the education about true Japanese Kaseki menus.
A surprise. If you want to taste authentic Japanese cuisine without having to travel to Japan, this is the place. The chefs are trained in Japan. I would compare this restaurant to French Laundry for Japanese formal dining in Napa. Japanese formal dining dishes are quite different from the everyday dishes one finds in a Japanese restaurant. Expect your palate to be stimulated. My wife and I loved every dish. We have lived in Japan and are very familiar with Japanese foods. We had the Kaiseki course. My favorite was the wagyu with sea urchin. Sea urchin is not my favorite but, their selection was not briny and tasted sweet, without an after taste. You can tell that the ingredients are selected carefully and the best are used. Each dish is prepared perfectly. The fish used for sashimi and sushi are excellent. If you love sushi, you can order the Sushi Kaiseki course. The fish is fresh. At the end of the course, the desert was also very good. We loved the honey ice cream. We were both full at the end. We will definitely dine here again.
Very authentic Japanese meal and very expensive! $225 per person and entire group has to order same tasting menu, no exceptions. Menu for 2 with a lower priced bottle of saki was $770. I like my fish a little more salty/savory, but they made no alterations to my only request. Other service was exceptional, 6 guests in restaurant to 6 staff, an experience for sure, even the bartop wood and wallpaper and sushi chef is imported from Japan. But twice I’ve had the premium chef tasting at Nobu and was asked what I liked and chef actually incorporated it into tasting menu with sake tasting included and loved it, and paid half the price of this place. So hmmmm, I’m left feeling like it was not worth the $ for me.
The food was beyond amazing. A Japanese version of the French laundry. Service was impeccable with plates being placed in front of us in perfect synchronization. Price was much too high for regular dining.
An amazing experience. Truly deserving of their Michelin star. A bit pricy, but well worth it.
Did the Sushi Kaiseki. Outstanding dinner- a very special series of flavors and the service was elegant and attentive. Not surprisingly a great wine and sake menu. Would happily go back.
