French

A modern, artistic and vibrant take on the traditional French brasserie, the all-new Kendall's Brasserie dishes out a revamped menu by Chef Jean-Pierre Bosc who has playfully enhanced his take on contemporary, regional French cuisine, inspired by his most recent culinary pilgrimage to his hometown in Lyon, France. Bosc indulges guests with the modern comforts of regional French fare and dishes out a variety of house-made charcuterie along with an array of small plates, seasonal salads, sandwiches and entrees.

If you are going to theater at the Music Complex, and you want a really good dinner, then Kendall's is a good place, provided that you know that it's not cheap. It's noisy even if you try to eat in the most quiet place. Given all that, and just expect it. The service I had was very good. Food delivery was prompt, the service was attentive and knowledgeable, knew that we were theatergoers, and acted as they should. The food, though expensive, was really good, and they served nice sized portions. Certainly a restaurant to consider when you go to the theater

Overpriced. Salad lacking in flavor. Server never refilled water glasses. French onion soup mediocre - nothing special for the price. Seated very close to other patrons when there were plenty of open tables. So close we could not hear our own conversation. Meh. Not worth it.

Not a really deep menu and limited vegetarian options but what we did have was wonderful. Especially loved the bread! Service was superior. Very attentive. Friday night pre-theater was quite noisy but overall a very pleasant experience which I'm sure we'll repeat.

The only thing going for it is the close proximity to the music center. Lackluster renditions of French dishes accompanied with poor service (don’t you train the staff in the basics??

It is a convenient restaurant to dine at if you are visiting the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion or the Ahmanson. The service is usually really good. Sometimes it takes a bit to get the waiter's attention but once they have it they are on point. The food has always been a pleasure to have. There isn't anything I have ordered that was not palatable.

We had been here many times when going to the opera or to a play, but we had very bad service here a couple years ago, and did not return until last Thursday night. The food was quite good as was the service. Kendall's is very convenient when going to the Opera as it is just below the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Kendall's has a pretty good selection of wines by the glass. We arrived very early (~5:00 PM) and the restaurant was quiet, but by the time we left it was quite noisy.

My wife and I have eaten here at this restaurant on several occasions and have enjoyed it each and every time. The pork medallion is quite good with a generous portion of pork and vegetables. The Char is good but does not have much of a taste. The apple tart is a good way to end the meal. This is a very convenient place to go after or before a show performance at the music center.

First of all we arrived early for our reservation and the restaurant was nearly empty, but the hostess said we would have to wait to be seated. She directed us to the bar where the only place to sit was at a high-top table with VERY wobbly chairs. When I asked for a stable chair, the waitress told me that they were all like that. I'm 72. Getting up on a high stool is difficult and getting up on one that didn't feel safe was very annoying. Then we waited nearly 15 mins before we caught the eye of the waiter to order drinks. We were finally seated in the dining room. Dinner was OK, but nothing I'd go back for. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.

Kendall's is fine for a pre-theatre brunch or dinner. I would not make a trip just to dine there. The food is good, and the chicken is pretty amazing, but it's all a bit overpriced. Service is quick once they get to you, but they are so intent on moving you out to the theatre, that it can feel rushed. Very nice servers, however.

In the past, Kendall's was one of the best dining options before a performance at the Music Center. But on this particular night, it was our worst dining experience ever. It took almost an hour for the main courses to come out. The shrimp and pearl (pasta) dish was cold and shrimp were grey (underdone). The artisanal cheese board had nice cheeses, but the rest of it was mediocre (honey, dried fruit, bread). The waiter was surly and hardly came by the table. The restaurant menu was different from the online menu listed on the Patina Group website. Fair enough. But, as a vegetarian, I was looking forward to the provencal mezze plate which was not offered. We left rushed - for the theatre - and hungry. It was not worth $120.

The service here is impeccable. The atmosphere is great. Small wine list, but I loved the Cabernet I ordered. The food however, while beautifully presented, was rather bland. The onion soup was too heavy on the caramelized onions, with almost no broth, very little cheese, and very little flavor. The Beef Bourguignon looked amazing, but was not well seasoned and flat-tasting. I really wanted to love this restaurant, and I did love everything but the food, unfortunately.

Management needs to rethink its staffing levels. After the initial water and bread appeared, it took 15 minutes to see a waiter, and another 15 minutes to have our order taken. I liked my onion soup (that's one reason we come), but spouse's shrimp pearls are not impressive. Plus the place is choking on its success - we haven't been able to get a seat at the bar in the past three visits - miss our favorite bartender.
