Serves a purpose in pre-theater dining but they could really pay more attention to details.
Great spot to eat before a show at The Ahmanson. Will definitely be back.
We had an 8:00 performance. We were seated right away; our server took our order promptly; water and delicious bread and our wine were brought right away. Our order came up very quickly and bill was brought as soon as we requested it. This allowed us time to eat, pay and make our performance with no problem. Kudos to all
We were late getting there because of traffic. Everyone was welcoming and sat us right away. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. He added much to our experience.
We come here when we have tickets for a performance at one of the nearby venues. It never disappoints. This time, I had the quiche which was great. Huge portion with delicious roasted potatoes and a side salad. My husband raves about his omelette, also very generous portion. We each enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine. We did not order dessert because we were full. The location is a short easy walk to the venues. A true favorite!
As always, Kendall's is a #1 place to eat before a performance. Although very busy the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. And you can always trust the food will be prepared with great care. Generous portions.
One of my favorite places to return to for dinner. Ivan was exceptional in his service as was the food. I wholeheartedly recommend Kendall's on a regular basis to friends and colleagues looking for a great dining experience.
Kendall's is consistently good. I enjoy their cocktails, their bread makes me feel like I'm in Paris, and their Isle Flotante (floating island) is one of my favorite desserts. Great choice for dining before a performance at the Music Center or Disney Hall.
Although we had a 5:15 reservation, we weren’t seated until 5:40. We were making a 6:30pm curtain at the Music Center. They offered us a free glass of champagne for the wait. We ordered our entree right away due to the time constraint which made the meal less relaxing than I would have liked. However, the servers were great and were aware of our curtain time. In the future I would make a 5:00 pm reservation.
We've eaten at the Brasserie 4 or 5 times in the past couple of years prior to a performance at the Music Center and always found it to be a pleasant experience and unrivaled for convenience prior to a play. This visit, however, left a lot to be desired. The restaurant was packed at 4:45 on a Sunday afternoon prior to a 6:30 play and terribly understaffed. The waiter made a first pass for our drinks order about 15 minutes after we were seated. After that we waited another 15 mins for water, 20 mins for bread to arrive, 30 minutes to order our entree and 35 mins for our wine and coffee which was ordered on the waiters' first pass. The drinks came via a manager after we complained.
We are not high maintenance diners. We understand that servers can only do one thing at time. The waiter was working like a dust devil, at maximum capacity and is a sweet guy who has waited on us before when he'd had a chance to give excellent service. I think what really rankled us this time was when the manager got our drinks he maintained they were not understaffed. Really? No wonder an occasional klunker of an experience happens here, with that kind of managerial attitude. The awful service is proof positive they were understaffed. Even 1 more knowledgeable runner would have made all the difference during this meal if they were empowered to bring drinks.
The food was, as ever, good but this time the whole experience left a lot to be desired.
Perfect location for pre or post theatre meals. Tasty food.
Pre show dinner.
Food was excellent as always
Service became a bit spotty as the dinner went on but I believe that was a result of staff being spread too thin.
Ralph is the best!!!! Oh, and the food is great as well!
Delicious food consistently.
Chicken club sandwich & fries are delicious. It's a lot of food so I'd recommend sharing if you don't want to take some home.
I love this restaurant in downtown LA. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star in all categories was the limited brunch menu. But overall, ejecutivo though it is pricey it is a great value for the $.
Amazing service and delicious food!!! Would recommend to anyone!
Went to Kendall's recently before a play. Chose it for the proximity, price range, and ambiance. Our waiter, Ralph and busboy, Chuy took such great care of us! As an unfussy vegetarian, I must say I was a bit disappointed with the "Chef's Choice" vegetable plate. For $22 I got sautéed zucchini, yellow squash and green beans. For half that, I could've gotten three sides and had better flavors with sauces! Other than that, it was a good, pre-theatre experience.
Fish, French onion soup, bread and butter very French delicious. Waiter was fantastic great ambiance. Will deinately return.
I dine at the restaurant every time I take a client to the theatre which is 4 to 5 times a year. I’ve been doing this for over 5 yrs. I usually have a reservation confirmed as I know how the theatre rush is on show nights. I was disappointed that our table was no ready for over 15 min of our confirmed time. The bussing staff and food runners were exceptional I felt like others got caught up in the chaos.
Service was nice but not too professional. Food was meh. Location is everything for this place.
Had a lovely time as always. We were there for pretheatre dinner and very noisy inside, every table, e dry seat at the bar were taken, as it was a cold night and no one wanted to be outside. Our food was delicious, I had crab cakes.. and great martinis the bartender made e something off menu. I rarely give 5s,
The food was really good but the restaurant is really noisy and the whole process took too long. Nearly two hours and we didn't have time for dessert. It is a convenient place to go before a show.
Always reliable. For the hour or so before performances you'll want reservations. It will be noisy.
We've been here a half dozen times for dinner before the theatre because it's so close, but were not so happy last night. The prices seemed really high and we didn't want to spend at least $70 each with cocktail/wine, entree, tax and tip. We shared the charcuterie plate which was meat only and good but heavy. And I ordered a nice salad but it was overly dressed, lacking texture and not great. But the cocktail was good. I would recommend but with caveats and a some hesitation.
Very disappointed with food. The server was excellent.
Kendall's has excellent service, very decent food options, and is a great place to meet before the theater
Convenient before the theater but nothing special. Average food for the $. The best food item was the french fries! We will not return.
Great food and service, location next to The Music Center makes it tops. We enjoyed ourselves!
On a tight time schedule: they really helped us maintain our schedule.
We had a delicious dinner! Service and food were excellent! Wine was also perfect! Table wS comfortable. We loved it.
I was very disappointed that the hours here & on Yelp. Were not correct I had to wait for them to open.
The hostess told me she had called with this info. I didn’t find the message. I came for the Escargot and the Casolette They were not what I had expected.
We had a great time dining here. The food was great especially the calamari. Yum yum
On this occasion our server, Ralph was so friendly and efficient. He by far is one of the best servers that Kendall's Brasserie has working for them. The busboys were right on the spot never letting serving dishes collect and often checking on water, Ice tea and want for more bread. Great Place!
Sylvan is the best-great service. Everything was great.
Lovely brunch before the ballet!
Kendall's is perfect for before or after theatre dining considering it is next to the Ahmanson, Taper and Music Hall. Wonderful French bistro fare. My friend was delighted to find a Croque Madam on the menu. I had the Eggs Benedict with bacon substituted for the prosciutto. Both were very good. Our bartender was very attentive. Will definitely return!!
Great place for lunch before a matinee performance at the Ahmanson
Consistently good. Great staff. Tasty drinks. Good food. Perfect pre-show lunch.
