Ray’s and Stark Bar
The service here is impeccable. The atmosphere is great. Small wine list, but I loved the Cabernet I ordered. The food however, while beautifully presented, was rather bland. The onion soup was too heavy on the caramelized onions, with almost no broth, very little cheese, and very little flavor. The Beef Bourguignon looked amazing, but was not well seasoned and flat-tasting. I really wanted to love this restaurant, and I did love everything but the food, unfortunately.
We went to Kendall’s for mydaughter’s birthday and preshow dinner. The staff accommodated two extra people that we didn’t plan to bring, helped us with special dietary needs, and brought my daughter a cake for her birthday before we even asked. The food was fantastic too.
Good food and service, very close to theaters and Walt Disney Concert Hall!
Kendall’s has never disappointed- lovely and welcoming.
The food was swift and exquisite! Such outstanding flavoring and the service and ambience was delightful. Will definitely be back
A bit overcrowded and quick but the food is very, very good.
This restaurant is great for going to theater after dinner. Because they serve delicious meals and quick service. You won’t be late to see shows.
Management needs to rethink its staffing levels. After the initial water and bread appeared, it took 15 minutes to see a waiter, and another 15 minutes to have our order taken. I liked my onion soup (that's one reason we come), but spouse's shrimp pearls are not impressive. Plus the place is choking on its success - we haven't been able to get a seat at the bar in the past three visits - miss our favorite bartender.
Good place to eat and drink prior to a show.
Food and service are awesome. Its expensive because they are catering to theater goers and the restaurant options are limited within walking distance
All our dishes were flavorful, cooked just right and the cognac sauce on the filet mignon was perfect. The calamari is not the usual deep fried, but sautéed with a ton of garlic, tomatoes and mushrooms...so good!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the generous portions and the service except for our the wobbly table. We would’ve preferred a full booth but was shown to a very tight space between other tables.
The location is the perfect if one is attending a performance at the Music Center/Dorothy Chandler or a concert at Disney Hall. The food is always delicious and the presentation is nicely done. The service is excellent and helpful. The personnel are always welcoming and happy . The price is reasonable for the amount of food one receives. I enjoy sitting in the main dining room, and I never want to go anywhere else.
Convenient with consistently good food and service.
The menu has been tweeked but still too pricey for what you get. Food is generally good but expensive. Its major advantage is location and convenience to the Music Center and Disney Hall, but now there are more eating options and the competition will heat up even more when the complex across Grand is finished. It needs to up its game or find itself left behind!
Pre theatre meal. Menu is very limited.
This was a solid choice for Brunch before a show. The decor is awesome and really is the biggest star of the place. It looks so cool and felt like a European eatery. That European vibe, however, bled into the service which was super friendly and accommodating but was awfully slow with pacing of food being a major issue. While we gave ourselves plenty of time and had no issues with the wait, I noticed a number of other diners desperately looking for servers to take orders, deliver food and then to try to pay. Something to consider if you're in a hurry.
The food was very good, although I don't feel the portions completely matched the price. Additionally, my wife ordered the Croque Madam which was good, but had the thinnest slice of ham that it was undetectable. Mentioned it to the waiter who in turn mentioned to the chef and we were told they'd made a mistake. Hopefully that's the case because it would have been a really good dish with that element enhanced. To their credit, they offered dessert which was delicious and appreciated.
Drinks were quite good.
We'd go back and probably will try a dinner menu next time to compare. Again, it's a solid choice for dining before or after a show.
Valentines Day prefixe dinner was wonderful! Excellent price for a large amount of high quality delicious food .
Pre-opera dinner. I had Sylvane as the waitress and she was efficient and good as always. We managed to eat dinner and still have 10 minutes to get upstairs for curtain call on time.
We dined at Kendall's with friends prior to attending the show at the Ahmanson theater. We were seated promptly (we had a 6:15 pm reservation through Open Table) and immediately asked what we would like to drink. As soon as our guests arrived, the waiter took our order and the food was served - everything was delicious. I had the butternut squash soup and beef bourguignon - superb. We finished our meals in plenty of time to get to the theater for the 8 pm show. The service was attentive and the setting comfortable. The location is very convenient - walking distance to the theater, and parking very easy in the underground lot, for both dining and the show. We will always dine at Kendall's when we are going to an event at the Music Center.
A busy place with delicious drinks and good food. It’s very convenient for going to a play at the Music Center. A lot of diners were having the charcuterie platter which looked delicious. We’ll try that next time.
Disappointing at best
Telling us to keep our dirty silverware after our salad and appetizer courses is beyond tacky. This is the second time of dining at this establishment that this has happened. Clearly this is their policy. And management really has to examine their policies and decide what type of restaurant they want to be, roadside diner or fine dining establishment.
Great location very convenient to the Music Center. This restaurant had come highly recommended as expensive but serving very good food and as a Patina Group location I had high expectations.
As it turned out the food was mediocre at best, the service, not much better. The French Onion soup I ordered had the look, taste and feel as if it had been prepped the day before. The Steak Frites was nothing memorable. My wife's salad was OK, the beef bourguignon was marginal at best, like the soup it lacked any hint of freshness.
While I would agree the meal was expensive the food was disappointing and did not meet the standards of past meals I have had with Patina
A bad night this time. Asked for a quieter section of the restaurant, was put right bes
The food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, we were seated in the room to the right when you enter, so the ambiance was not great, and the door was open so it was quite cold. I would suggest asking to be seated in the regular restaurant area, which is what I will do next time. Overall good, just something to keep in mind.
We always have dinner here before going to the Ahmanson. The food was delicious. They have a great wine list. The service was efficient and we made it to our show with time to spare.
Cassoulet was mediocre at best...mushy, overcooked beans and other ingredients, one-note taste.
Mussel dish - mussels were much smaller than we remembered.
Calamari dish was not so good...rubbery calamari, flavors in sauce congealed into a weird taste that wasn't very pleasant.
Server was very attentive, considering the pre-theater rush.
Great food and service
We’ll be back for sure
Great service with staff recognizing mist diners needed to catch one of the shows at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Going to the theatre.
Our party of four had a very good time. My only real criticism was with the waiter. The actual service was well executed, but he was in a rush to get the order and turn the table over. He definitely hurried our event. As the noise level increased with arrivals it became very hard to converse. We sat at table 81, I think
It had been years we had not been at this establishment which we used to frequent often. We were seated in the room to the right of the main door, going up a few steps. This room has concrete floors with some carpets thrown around. It looks unfinished and unwelcoming. There is a draft coming from the steps which are directly next to the door. People seated near the steps were complaining it was cold and moving to other tables. The shrimp cocktail is no longer offered which was excellent. The quality of the food was just OK, not extraordinary. Of course, if you are going to a performance you can't beat the convenience of being there but I fear it is no longer what it used to be.
Never had a bad meal here. Miss the great dinner special they had few years ago but at least there are a few more vegetarian friendly options now. And it’s a tasty, convenient place to go before enjoying the theatre.
My daughter and I love to go here before we go to the theatre next door.
Food is good but the service slow. Wine selection - they had no French white wines. At a brasserie? The room they seated us in was warm and too bright. Bar service was good.
We eat at Kendall's Brasserie for every performance we attend at the Mark Taper Forum and the Ahmanson Theater. Fabulous Cocktails and Small Plates. Great Service. We enjoy our light meal. Then walk upstairs to the venue. Easy. See you next month.
Excellent country French food served in a pleasant atmosphere. But ambiance varies in the facility so don't expect much in the Boardroom.
Nice food, but the bar has been slow and "backed up" both of the last two times I have dined at this restaurant. Whatever you do, DO NOT order your drinks and meal at the same time. You should defer ordering your meal until after your drinks have been sighted.
Time to vary the menu. How about specials or standard fare, like normal eggs benedict or other items new to the menu. Those of us who regularly frequent the restaurant for music center presentations find the menu old and without variations.
Good food and ambience for pre- or post- theater dining.
