Kendall's handles a ton of traffic from music center and Disney Hall patrons with patience and efficiency. I had the short ribs and they were perfectly cooked. An excellent martini as well. The back "speak easy" room feels more intimate than the main dining room and is quieter. The outside patio is nice, too, except that you get the auto fumes and noise. One of my favorite restaurants.
I eat there often before the theatre. It is very convenient to get to the different theatres in time for the curtain. The food varies depending on how heavy the crowd. Prices have gone up and the choice seem fewer, but as I said, it works for a night at the theatre.
Our server, Jimmy, was excellent
The food and desserts (we ordered Pavlova) were exceptional. The wait staff was VERY alert and attentive.
As always, we had an excellent experience with both food and service at this restaurant. it remains a regular favorite place to eat.
Exceptional service from the wait staff. A 6 reservation was totally ample for an 8PM show.
Great food and service as always, but ask for a quiet table.
Always a great place to eat before attending a show at the Ahmanson. A special treat.
We met for a pre theatre dinner and unfortunately the service was slow. The food is average but it’s close to the Ahmanson which is its greatest advantage.
We always come before the theater and had great service by James. He was wonderful and helpful in selections. Even managed to squeeze in desert. I must say I miss the beet and watermelon salad. Please bring that back to the menu.
The location is perfect for attending the Music Center. However, the menu seemed very limited. It is perfect for before a performance. But, the selection on the menu could be better.
Wonderful service during a busy time, food was delicious!
Israel did a great job. Food and wine were delicious.
Ask for the library room--much quieter
Service was very slow—(according to waitress when we complained) computers went down and we were served our main courses long after tables that arrived after us were finishing. Very inexperienced bus boys regarding table clearance, water, whether to put champagne in ice bucket (!??). Need more wait staff who need more training. Food was good, but for the price I expect better service.
Made reservations to eat before seeing a play - table was 30 minutes late - had less than 30 minute to eat.
Near ruined the night.
Have done this dozens of times before Something has changed stay away
We arrived at 4 o’clock but no service was available till 430 yet they accept reservations at 4 o’clock. Only one wait person arrived at 4:30 ...Apologizing for the changing of shifts…Steak was far too tough the bernaise sauce clearly was not bernaise !
Had to return it twice and brought back worse each time!
Most disappointing in that we’ve been patrons for years even when it was called Ottos!
i’m not sure at this time whether we should be returning when we attend future performances at the music center ? Probably better off grabbing a sandwich and a drink inside the theater
The quiche tasted like a cheese sandwich and the crust was tough. The accompanying lettuce salad was very oily. This lunch was a huge disappointment.
Kendall's is convenient for patrons going to performances at the Music Center. It is it's main reason for existence. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The service is excellent and friendly. The ambience is pleasant.
I always dine at Kendall's before going to Center Theatre Group. With very few exceptions I am always very happy with my experience. Thanks.
My friend and I chose Kendall's because we had tickets to the show at the Ahmanson. We arrived on time and were taken to our table immediately. The service was prompt and all of our needs were taken care of. The cocktails (Old Fashioned and glass of cabernet) were very high quality and the food (my friend and I shared the Brasserie salad and Beef Bourguignon entree) was absolutely delicious. The experience could not have been better and we shall return, whether on theater nights, or perhaps just to dine.
We came on a recommendation from a friend. When we arrived at 730 it was packed! We were quickly seated and enjoyed a fabulous meal. As we were working on our appetizer soddenly eveyone stood and left! It was a show night and everyone had to make call. We suddenly had a private restaurant to ourselves. We enjoyed a beautiful meal of duck and steak frites. Israel was our waiter and he looked after our every need. Very knowledgeable of the menu and his suggestions were on point. We will definitely be back! Thank you Israel!
Great food, perfect for before theater dining. But this place is NOISY and it is difficult to carry on a conversation. Please put up some sound absorbing tiles, put in cushions or carpet or anything that will reduce the noise. Love the food, hate the NOISE
Busy and understaffed pre-theater. Ear-splitting noise. Wait staff is friendly and welcoming.
Do people really enjoy eating where you cannot hear your partner across the table?
The duck entree was fine, although a bit too much garlic in the sauce.
We were seated outside, where it seemed that just one waiter had all the tables - consequently, we had to ask twice for water and waited over ten minutes to get the water. The nearby tray with water pitchers was empty & not refilled efficiently.
Very noisy near the bar area. Quieter back near the rest rooms. Service is harried if you're close to a curtain time.
Off to Ahmanson and food was better than this play 😊
Great pre-theater meal. Classic french bistro style menu.
This was an excellent pre-theatre experience. The table...excellent; the service...exceptional; the food...perfection; and the drinks...on point! We were actually seated at a table where we could converse in normal tones and hear each other. Amazing in this current world of noisy restraunts. Bravo Kendall’s Brasserie.
Was one of the first customers for lunch on a Friday. Prompt service, attentive waitress, good food.
Our bartender/waiter, Oscar was awesome! The drinks were phenomenal!! The best I’ve had anywhere bar Felidia NY. But they were on par with those! The food, service and cleanliness were impeccable!
My reservation was at 6pm. At that time the restaurant was empty, yet we were seated directly next to the kitchen. Our waiter was impatient and never checked in with us after our food arrived. I ordered the steak frites. I’ve had better steak, and the garlic fries were ridiculously garlic.
I like this place because it is close to the Music Center. The food was just okay.
Our 6pm reservation was intended to give us time for a nice meal before the opera at 7:30. We arrived on-time to a large line-up of people with similar reservations. Upon check-in there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to whom would seated when (we were thrown into a general pool by a stressed out hostess. Her two young seating attendants did not seem to know what to do. We finally requested our table at 6:30 and were seated promptly.
The service was excellent as was the food and ambiance.
We love Kendall's decor but where we sat the tables where close & lacked the atmosphere of other locations in the restaurant. Our waiter suggested the most expensive wine by the glass that was terrible wine! Our food arrived warm at best and we were given plates that were cold & dirty. we had asked for clean plates & by the time the clean plates arrived the food was cold, no I would not recommend it at all. This was very disappointing from my previous visit.
Excellent food and wine, and attentive service. The only downside is the noisiness.
Exquisite presentation of food. Enjoyed a lovely salad with asparagus, avocado, cherry tomatoes, along with baby romaine hearts. Salmon entree with toasted bread crumbs was prepared with white beans and peas in a broth and a branch of cooked cherry tomatoes. The meal and service were A-plus. Crusty sourdough baguette was irresistible. I had to have several pieces. Make a reservation in advance.
Two entrees (tagiatelle and steak tartar) were excellent, the other two (salmon and risotto) were only so-so. Very convenient eatery for Music Center or WDCH events.
We went to the theatre and decided to make a full night of it! Looked up restaurants near the Ahmanson and this popped up! As soon as O saw steak tartare on the menu, I booked it. It’s my hubbys favorite dish! It did not disappoint and neither did the desserts! Service is absolutely impeccable!
