Although pricey, and service may be questionable, great place for something prior and after the theatre.
I really wish they would not stack the food. I really like the protein separate from the veggies separate from the potatos
YES it is very convenient but the food is OK but choices are limited & the prices keep going up....
The service was excellent. The food was tasty but very overpriced for the size of the portion. However, the restaurant is adjacent to the theater so it was convenient. I doubt that we will return.
I love Kendall’s. I really only go there if I’m going to the Music Center, but it’s one of my favorite restaurants in LA.
Kendall's is beautiful inside, and the food is delicious. We have consistent excellent meals every time we are here. Service is attentive and thoughtful. Menu and decor reminiscent of a French bistro. Brilliant choice before or after an event at Disney or Chandler.
Love the decor and ambiance at this restaurant and its location at the music center is so convenient when we have tickets to a show there. Servers and hostess are excellent! Really make an effort to make you happy. Just wish the food and drinks were better tasting. I had a pear martini that tasted like grapefruit. My poached salmon as good, but my husband and the couple we were with thought their food was just ok. All of us agreed that the the menu is rather limited; we’d like to see more main course options we also thought the food was a bit overpriced. I’ve been here 3 times, but I’m afraid I won’t be returning.
We ordered oysters and they were not great - each one had chunks of shell in the oyster, seemingly shucked by someone who doesn't know how to do it. The restaurant had a pervasive bad smell -and considering we were early, we got a small table, jammed in between other diners even though the main dining room was practically empty. I have been to this restaurant many times before - I am an avid theatre-goer. This was not a great experience.
Accommodated our need for handicapped accessible dining in a lovely unobtrusive manner. The food and service was very good. The ambiance is comfortable and classy like a European brasserie. We had steak and frites which was delicious with a side of Mac and cheese. Prompt and perfect timing to accommodate our theatre curtain. We will go back again.
We often eat at Kendall’s when attending an event at the music center. It doesn’t disappoint. The food is actually better, although I do miss that crab and avocado appetizer they used to have.
Excellent customer service! We got a table that sat 4-people but it was just the 2 of us so we got to sit next to each other on the same side looking out the window of Grand Ave. We started with the calamari that was sautéed in a yummy garlic sauce with mushrooms and tomatoes. I really enjoyed my steak tartare and my fiancé enjoyed his grilled bass. Overall it was a fantastic dining experience and our waiter was super attentive and friendly.
Our server was excellent and recommended the perfect dish. Had been before for theater going and was not impressed. Has improved and the overall experience was lovely.
Excellent food. I had the burger and it was done exactly how I asked for it. The waiter was outstanding.
Kendall's keeps getting more expensive. The mussels and fries have gone up from $25 to $31. We had the onion soup which is only fair and a beet salad which was excellent. A lot of the food here is just okay which makes it a poor value as it is expensive. However, it's hard to beat for convenience when you go to the theater at the Music Center.
Excellent service; good food; nice environment. But service was exceptional.
Very convenient pre theater and food was acceptable but not memorable
This restaurant was very convenient to Disney Concert Hall, which was my reason for selecting it, as there are not many restaurants close by. We were seated at an early time as later times were not available. When we first arrived the place was almost empty. Were seated quickly and waited on quickly. There were no specials other than the menu listing and a soup. Both me and spouse selected the French passport to get a 2 course meal. Not sure we saved any money with this. My wife also added the special Cauliflower soup. Soup was good. Salad my wife chose was rather bland. Some people had a hard time getting dressing with the salad. I chose the salmon appetizer, and was surprised to learn that it was a spread. It also didn't have much taste. Some of the toast that came with soup and appetizer were burnt. They were turned over to avoid spotting this right away. My wife ordered poached salmon for entrée, and was satisfied. The Pork Tenderloin that I ordered was a little tough and undercooked. Didn't care for the sides. We also ordered the floating Island dessert, but was a little disappointed that there were only 3 ingredients, and grew tired of it pretty quickly. By the time we got half way thru our main meal, the restaurant grew very crowded, and we could not hear each other, and service slowed way down. I am sure this was because concert time was drawing near, but we couldn't wait to get out of there. Will not likely return even though it is convenient to the concert hall.
Another excellent meal before Saturday theatre matinee. We always enjoy the ambiance, extensive menu choices, and country French preparation. Server was professional and charming. The quality of our good and the preparations were excellent. Yes, since the table cloths were removed it seems very loud, but worth it. Make a reservation.
Consistently good. Very convenient for pre theater food and drinks. Lovely nice atmosphere.
Food was tasty but definitely not hot enough . I feel it was probably prepared to early
Been frequently Kendall's for years. Now that it's the only place near the Music Center that takes reservations, I am forced to return whenever I want to meet a friend for dinner before a show. The food is way overpriced and is very hit and miss. Could someone tell the kitchen to tear the lettuce in the salads? Eating one is like grazing in a field. Service starts fine and then devolves into a mad panic to get the food out in an acceptable amount of time. Risotto is soggy. Tagliatelle has a thin watery sauce.
Perfect for before of after the theatre. Easy parking below the music center.
We were put in “upstairs” room, much quieter than the main dining room. Highly recommend requesting being seated there. Food and service exceptional.
Always a good time!
Service was outstanding, the minute we looked around the waiter was there. Every request was answered.
The pasta was extremely salty. We stated as much and the restaurant would not let us pay for the entire meal, desert too. Loved the proximity to the theaters, we were very close to our theater, ambiance was delightful. This is obviously a very fine restaurant and fitting for the occasion.
Food was fine, service okay, but on the expensive side for what you get. Small, unimaginative menu that needs expansion and inspiration. They have a captive audience at the Disney Hall/Music Center, so they probably don’t feel the need to shake things up.
Expensive but the food is good and so is the service. Easy to eat dinner and get to the show!
Food is consistently good. Staff helps speed up service for attending performances at the music center.
It’s been our long-time pre-theater dinner spot. The food is terrific, but the service has become unbearable.
Kendall’s is great for what it is. A convenient restaurant. It could be so much better but it doesn’t need to be. I wish they were not happy with their status because they have everything else.
Food and service was outstanding, one of downtown LA's best locations!!!
It was a New Year eve special menu. The food was terrible. Service was great though.
The service was wonderful. The squash soup was delicious. Otherwise, food was unremarkable. Loved the access to the theater...only had to park once. The staff was so nice....really friendly and helpful.
New Years Eve menu was prix fixe, which we didnt know when we made the reservations.
The appetizers were ok. The main courses, venison and duck breast were inedible.
They exchanged for 2 other entrees, risotto and sea bass, which were, meh.
I'm sure this place can do better but not sure we'll be back any time soon.
Service was ok.
This was 2nd holiday eve for us last year, Xmas elsewhere and the prix fixe caught us off guard both times.
Hard to get new resies at last minute.
Never do that again.
I was not exited about my striped seabass, it was a thick crust and underneath very dry.
Realize it was the busiest day of the year but my dinner choice was not the best!!!
We made our pre-dinner reservation not realizing they were having a special 3 or 4-course menu given that it was New Year's Eve. Their butternut squash bisque was disappointing--very thick and not as flavorful as their other bisques typically are. Their beef duo was excellent as was the mushroom risotto. And all of the desserts were enjoyable. The service was excellent and they are very wine friendly in terms of a reasonable corkage fee. We brought out own champagne.
The pork tenderloin with lentils, haricot green beans with a light curry sauce was FABULOUS!!! The pork was tender and juicy, the lentils were cooked to perfection (lentils vert de puy are often too hard) and the green beans were also just right. The presentation was colorful and made me want to begin immediately. My friend had the same meal and agrees with me on every point.
We often sit at the bar where we meet interesting people and it is where the action is. I love it here!
The floating island dessert is straight out of France that is a tasty, albeit very sweet, end of the dinner.
Can't wait to return.
First I have to say that the staff was great. Our drink order was taken immediately and the order came out pretty quickly. Our food order was then taken. We waited and waited for our first course to arrive (one soup order and one salad order). After a half hour our main entrees we brought out, but we still had not received our first course. The server and manager apologized and took the salad and soup orders off of our check. That being said, the food was delicious and the staff was great.
Celebrating wife’s birthday. Dinner and show. Great food.
Great for before the theatre.
