The pear martinis are worth a detour! My favorite place for before and after concerts and theater.
Excellent location close to the Ahmanson and the food was excellent and so was the service.
If you are going to theater at the Music Complex, and you want a really good
dinner, then Kendall's is a good place, provided that you know that it's not cheap.
It's noisy even if you try to eat in the most quiet place.
Given all that, and just expect it. The service I had was very good.
Food delivery was prompt, the service was attentive and knowledgeable,
knew that we were theatergoers, and acted as they should.
The food, though expensive, was really good, and they served nice sized portions. Certainly a restaurant to consider when you go to the theater
Food was amazing. Service great.... We had reservations for the theater - parked once, dinner and a show. It was perfect. Apple Tart was fantastic.
Overpriced. Salad lacking in flavor. Server never refilled water glasses. French onion soup mediocre - nothing special for the price. Seated very close to other patrons when there were plenty of open tables. So close we could not hear our own conversation. Meh. Not worth it.
Not a really deep menu and limited vegetarian options but what we did have was wonderful. Especially loved the bread! Service was superior. Very attentive. Friday night pre-theater was quite noisy but overall a very pleasant experience which I'm sure we'll repeat.
Very nice location if you are going to the theater. The food was nicely presented and delicious.
The only thing going for it is the close proximity to the music center. Lackluster renditions of French dishes accompanied with poor service (don’t you train the staff in the basics??
Menu is always interesting. Great cocktails. Lovely outdoor dining
Loved the mushroom risotto. Service was excellent. We will definitely make Kendall's our "to go" dining spot when at the Music Center.
It is a convenient restaurant to dine at if you are visiting the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion or the Ahmanson. The service is usually really good. Sometimes it takes a bit to get the waiter's attention but once they have it they are on point. The food has always been a pleasure to have. There isn't anything I have ordered that was not palatable.
We had been here many times when going to the opera or to a play, but we had very bad service here a couple years ago, and did not return until last Thursday night. The food was quite good as was the service. Kendall's is very convenient when going to the Opera as it is just below the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Kendall's has a pretty good selection of wines by the glass. We arrived very early (~5:00 PM) and the restaurant was quiet, but by the time we left it was quite noisy.
Over priced, great service. Perfect location for dinner and show.
My steak was a bit. tough. The noise level was very bothersome -- one of the biggest contributors was a bartender.
Pre show dinner. Good service. Food good but slightly high in price for the size of orders
Dinner before seeing “The Book of Mormon” at the Ahmanson. Timing was perfect. Dinner was delicious. We had a great time. Our server, Rebecca, made us feel very welcone and she did an outstanding job.
My wife and I have eaten here at this restaurant on several occasions and have enjoyed it each and every time. The pork medallion is quite good with a generous portion of pork and vegetables. The Char is good but does not have much of a taste. The apple tart is a good way to end the meal. This is a very convenient place to go after or before a show performance at the music center.
We had to wait for 45 minutes before we got our meals, since we were going to the opera we had to eat very fast.
We had a reservation for 12:30, we got to the restaurant at 12:45.
It was the first time this happened.
Our second visit to this restaurant. On both visits the food has been excellent. Service on the first visit was just so-so. This visit the service was excellent! It’s a convenient dining location before attending a performance at the Music Center too. We’ll definitely be back.
Celebrating my sisters birthday. It was very nice.
Great dinner pre-theatre at Music Center. Food. service top notch.
It rather noisy in central dining room & we had very poor table location--my back was touching the Bar!
Overall, we really like all other features--highly recommend Kendalls!
We were happy that Kendall’s was close to parking and the Music Center. We felt safe there, and were greeted warmly. We did decide to change seats but that was fine with the staff. Thank you for the best Filet Mignon in LA!
The service was decidedly substandard. I had to flag down other employees to get attention from my waiter. Since I was attending an opera at the music center I did not wish to linger at my table long after the meal.
Dinner before play at the Theater
First of all we arrived early for our reservation and the restaurant was nearly empty, but the hostess said we would have to wait to be seated. She directed us to the bar where the only place to sit was at a high-top table with VERY wobbly chairs. When I asked for a stable chair, the waitress told me that they were all like that. I'm 72. Getting up on a high stool is difficult and getting up on one that didn't feel safe was very annoying. Then we waited nearly 15 mins before we caught the eye of the waiter to order drinks. We were finally seated in the dining room. Dinner was OK, but nothing I'd go back for. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.
Great food. I had cassoulet, which is difficult to find in LA. Vert tasty. My wife ordered the steak frites. Very good too.
Kendall's is fine for a pre-theatre brunch or dinner. I would not make a trip just to dine there. The food is good, and the chicken is pretty amazing, but it's all a bit overpriced. Service is quick once they get to you, but they are so intent on moving you out to the theatre, that it can feel rushed. Very nice servers, however.
Great t eat somewhere the food was good, service excellent & pleasant AND we didn't have to 'Yell' to one another to have a conversation. We'll be back!
In the past, Kendall's was one of the best dining options before a performance at the Music Center. But on this particular night, it was our worst dining experience ever.
It took almost an hour for the main courses to come out. The shrimp and pearl (pasta) dish was cold and shrimp were grey (underdone). The artisanal cheese board had nice cheeses, but the rest of it was mediocre (honey, dried fruit, bread). The waiter was surly and hardly came by the table.
The restaurant menu was different from the online menu listed on the Patina Group website. Fair enough. But, as a vegetarian, I was looking forward to the provencal mezze plate which was not offered.
We left rushed - for the theatre - and hungry. It was not worth $120.
The service here is impeccable. The atmosphere is great. Small wine list, but I loved the Cabernet I ordered. The food however, while beautifully presented, was rather bland. The onion soup was too heavy on the caramelized onions, with almost no broth, very little cheese, and very little flavor. The Beef Bourguignon looked amazing, but was not well seasoned and flat-tasting. I really wanted to love this restaurant, and I did love everything but the food, unfortunately.
Kendall's is my go to restaurant when I am at The Music Center. They have a varied menu suitable for all dietary needs and their service is impeccable. Neither I nor my guest(s) have had a bad meal or a bad experience while dining.
We went to Kendall’s before seeing a show at the Music Center. The burger, French onion soup, and salads were outstanding and worth the price. Our new favorite place in DT LA.
