This is the second time we’ve been to Kendall’s for a pre theatre meal at the Ahmanson. Both times have been great experiences!! I love French food and this menu is both authentic and creative. I don’t drink but my guests have enjoyed the wine and cocktail offerings. There’s a great variety of appetizers, small plates, salads and entrees. The waiter never fussed if one orders just an onion soup. I’ve had the coq au vin and a delicious lobster dish with homemade pasta and a fabulous cognac sauce! My guests have had a variety of offerings. I can’t wait to return. The staff is wonderful. There’s wonderful tables outside and a lovely warm ambiance inside. There’s a bar where many folks were dining.
I’d feel very comfortable dining alone here.
One more thing. We never said we were pre theatre or in a hurry, but we were not rushed out. The staff was attentive and when it was time for the check, our waiter was ready but not pressuring us. This does not usually happen for pre theatre! I’d love to come back for a leisurely 3 course meal. Great spot!!!

Really, the only reason to go here is pre-event for Disney Hall or Center Theatre Group. It's a pity that we can't get better restaurants in the area. That said, Kendall's is completely serviceable and easier than getting in the car after a dinner and rushing to make a curtain.

Very convenient for dining before Music Center events. Classic French bistro menu. I especially liked the chopped salad and the warm marinated olives.

We have been dining at Kendall's for years and loved the elegance and food presentation but since the remodel to a more casual atmosphere and food presentation which we wouldn't have minded except now the service is very slow, the cooked food was cold and tasteless .
All in all a very unsatisfactory experience and we will NOT be returning!

We had a reservation and we were seated when we arrived early. The noise level crept up gradually to a point where we began to notice it. We have been there when it was not so noisy.
We like the food. It is very well prepared. It is a nice place downtown Los Angeles to eat just before the theater. Next time we will request sitting at the end of the bar facing each other.

Fantastic location, lovely decor and excellent service. The bar does a nice job of creating magnificent cocktails. Our table highly recommends the barramundi, steak fries, charcuterie and vegan spinach pasta. Don't miss out on the experience!

While the food is good and the portions are huge (actually, too big for pre-show meals since how can you take the leftovers?) the NOISE LEVEL IS HORRIBLE. It makes it hard to enjoy being with friends.

The food is consistently good. The presentation is lovely. It's a bit pricey. But, in line with the area. And the menu is very limited. So, it's not really conducive to frequent visits. As a theatre subscriber, that is a drawback.

I've been to Kendall's half a dozen times, but recently, the quality of food has declined and the service has been terrible the last two times we went before seeing a show. I used to really enjoy this place but my last two dining experiences have left me disappointed. Service has been very slow and non-responsive during last two visits. I'm not sure if I will return for another meal at Kendall's.

We chose this restaurant because it is close to the Music Center. The food exceeded our expectations, as every dish we tried was delicious. The portions are generous (two of us shared the Coq au Vin and could not finish it), and our server was attentive. Make sure you ask for break, which is delivered to the table wrapped in brown paper. The only drawback to this restaurant is that it's noisy, making it tough to have conversation. Still, we'll return. An added bonus: Many of the performers who appeared in the opera we saw either walked through the restaurant or dined there. The performers were open to chatting with patrons, which was nice to see. I didn't initiate a conversation, but others did. And every time, the performer was gracious. All things considered, this place is tough to beat if you want to grab a quick bite after seeing a show.

Normally Kendall’s is very efficient at handling the large pre-theatre crowds but today we had to ask three times for water and three times for salt. Seems like the service has gone downhill.

Kendall's is very convenient if you're going to a theater performance. However, our service was not great. My friend and I both asked lemon or extra lemon for our drinks. It took 2 requests to get the lemon and then we each got one slice of lemon. No one ever came back to inquire whether we needed anything else. Food was okay. I would return only because it's convenient to the theater.

Welcome and service was “ spot on”
Problem this time was the food- such a disappointment
.....ordered a croque for brunch— egg was hard and dish was simply heavy baked bread- with a thin slice of ordinary ham and melted cheese inside— not good
Salmon eggs Benedict was a much better choice
Still can recommend their onion soup- if that is what you want— delicious!

We usually dine here before performances at the Music Center and always enjoy dinner here. The salmon entrée was superb and I can't wait to repeat it. The boulebaise was equally superb. Tonight's service was not quite as attentive as we had experienced in the past and perhaps it was with a new waiter. I informed the manager who promptly apologized. We will be back in a few weeks before our next performance at the Ahmanson.

We choose Kendall's when we are going to see a show at the Music Center because it is so convenient. I feel that restaurants who have a guaranteed clientele don't always put their best foot forward. For example, the hostesses are not very warm, even though I always make a reservation. I would recommend you provide your staff some training on hospitality, that would make a difference in my recommendation of your restaurant to other theatre goers.

We really enjoyed eating here before our show at the Ahmanson. My wife had a delicious salad, per her comments, and a great bowl of French onion soup. I had the very tasty bouillabaisse. They provided bread which was pretty good. The was a decent wine and beer choice. Look forward to returning.

We had to get a server's eye every time we needed something. Not one person ever came by to see how things were, fill water glasses, ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. And it wasn't that crowed. I do like the food, but the service was atrocious.

Ideal for a dinner/drinks pre-concert at the Walt Disney Hall.
Food is good and tasty. Nice variety.

We nearly always dine at Kendalls Brasserie pre-theatre, about once a month. Our recent experiences do not meet with the high standards we had come to expect. Since the Boardroom area was closed earlier this year to regular diners, the remaining bar area became very noisy and overcrowded. We could rarely get one of the tables we prefer. When we dined last weekend, however, we were seated once again in the boardroom area, which has been re-furbished, but very disappointingly, the place having lost all vestige of its previous elegance. The floor is plain concrete with a few rugs laid over in the middle of the room, and the lighting and decor are very dark. There are no white table cloths. The service was very casual. The food very mediocre. The dinner menu was exactly the same as it has been for about the past 6 months, even though the choice has been pared down to a minimum. My salmon was hardly cooked at all, but we had no time to complain. All in all a great disappointment and hardly capable of encouraging a discerning diner to return.

I WOULD SUGGEST NOT SERVING A PASTA DISH (THE LOBSTER) IN THE CAST IRON SERVING DISH. IT TENDS TO DRY FOOD OUT, FOR LAMB AND SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO STAY VERY HOT ITS GREAT.
NO OYSTERS OTHER THAN FROM BAJA CALIFORNIA?
BRING BACK THE FISH SOUP---jEAN PIERRE'S IS THE BEST! AND SOMETHING WITH CRAB.

Third time here and Kendall's continues to impress. We were able to make a rather last minute reservation on a theatre night, and found the menu had been simplified since our last visit. The service was professional, sweet, and prompt. Each course was well done and enjoyable. It made a hectic peaceful.
