Great food and extra friendly service.
Wonderful quiet Sunday afternoon brunch before a show. Service was impeccable, food was delicious and the ambience was calm and inviting. A bit pricey, but certainly worth it.
Overall good pre theater experience.
The Halibut was perfect, the lamb shank was too dry
Lovely and prompt. Great service.
We had a magnificent time at Kellari. The service was attentive and caring. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend it!
This long standing restaurant shocked us. We arrived promptly for our 5:45 Saturday reservation, we were seated right away and let the waitress know we had theatre tickets. By 6 , we ordered our 3 course prix fix dinner and drinks ( ordered at the same time so that we wouldn't be rushed). The appetizers came almost immediately, but we waited 10-15 minutes after our appetizers for our drinks. At 6:55 our main course still had not arrived at which point we complained to the maitre d. Another 5 minutes went by and they told us it would be another 5 minutes for our entrees. At that point, 7 o'clock, we were not willing to wait any longer. We did not want wolf down our dinners and dessert in order to make our theatre, so we got up and left. Do not eat here if you have theatre tickets. Pre pandemic, we had several pre-theatre dinners at Kellari without any problems .
The food was excellent!
Kellari Taverna was amazing! Best chicken skewers. Great service. We will definitely be back.
Ok food, overpriced though.
They have lunch down here - the food and service were very fast, and both were very good. The avogolemno soup was exceptional.
Understaffed, too noisy, wait time too long
A delightful Greek Mediterranean restaurant that I would go out of my way to dine there. Extremely convenient in the theater district, and unlike other restaurants in the area, Kellari delivers top notch cuisine, in a wonderful and inviting atmosphere.
service was horrible, they sat us at a communal table with reservations 2 weeks in advance!
For a 12:30 reservation we were told to wait at the bar for 15 minutes while the restaurant waited for tables to clear. Were those tables seated at 11AM for lunch? Highly unlikely. This was a case of overbooking. Why make and confirm reservations on line if this is the treatment you’ll receive? Many people have limited time on a business day.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and it has never disappointed. Post pandemic it has been renovated and looks fresh. The food is just as delicious. Great for business lunch, theater dinner, romantic date and anything else.
Wonderful food and extra friendly service.
Good service, we weren’t rushed and enjoyed a nice dinner
We had a business dinner with 10 colleagues and we had a great experience. The service was fast, the food was phenomenal, and the ambience was very nice.
We came to have lamb and both lamb items were out despite ordering at 7:15pm. They were also out of the chicken which was our fallback option...
While the manager did her best to accommodate us with chicken skewers that were not on the menu it took an hour and a half to get our entree...
Had we been aware of the long wait we would have wanted something else.
Also when I showed up for the reservation the hostess pushed back quite a bit to give us a table that was in a nice area of the restaurant and clearly happened to be available. She tried to put me in corners or rooms that were not nearly as nice in spite of my clear inclination for that table. Almost as a punishment she accepted to give me the table but made me wait 10 minutes despite the table being clearly ready..
We still had a good time because the restaurant (at least where we ended up sitting) is warm and welcoming and the food was good so we'd like to come back and see if they can address those multiple issues.
I brought friends based on my previous good experiences at the restaurant. Service was ok, I understand our waiter had too many tables to handle. I love the food and will definitely return.
Fabulous meal and great service. Hostess at front could be a tad bit friendlier And warmer upon entering and exiting.
Great food. Great service
Lovely ambiance, good service, great food. Well-prepared and generous portions. Will continue coming here!
The entire experience was clouded by the extreme rudeness of the hostess. We arrived early w/o a reservation to an entirely empty restaurant. She informed us and a couple in front of us that we couldn’t be seated w/o reservations as the place was fully booked in 1/2 hour. Open table indicated there were plentiful opening avail, so I made 1 immediately. She then attempted to seat us by the freezing cold door and when we requested a different table she could not have been more unpleasant and unwelcoming. PS restaurant was still sparsely populated when we left 1 hour later. Food ok-very overpriced. Waitstaff friendly. Bad value.
Great location for theater district.
Always a good meal! Haven’t been in a long time due to Covid. Great wine fish lamb and especially octopus! The mixed dips were also excellent
We had a wonderful meal at Kellari. Starting with the crab ale appetizer, we were impressed. The crab cakes were filled with sweet cream meat, not fillers. We had the fish special, a branzini fillet. It was perfectly prepared and wonderful. Great service. Great ambiance. Lovely evening!
Kellari is one of the best Greek restaurants in Manhattan. Food is absolutely delicious.
We had a business lunch at Kellari, it was wonderful. All the guests were impressed at the ambiance, the food was outstanding and the service was excellent.
Just a beautiful place, highly recommended!
We have dined at Kellari Taverna many times. Must say this will be the last. To start, bar was totally out of vodka on a Wednesday evening @ a 4:00 pre theater dinner. Bartender said it was a busy weekend? This was Wednesday!! After we were seated and ordered our meal took over an hour, not to mention no bread or water for 30 minutes. Waiter totally misunderstood our order. When the food finally arrived it was tragic. My meal, braised lamb shank was 90% fat, cold and uneditable. Waiter said it was freshly cooked just now. BTW, braised lamb shank takes hours to cook properly. May be the worst presentation we have ever seen. Our waiter literally disappeared and we continually asked the manger for help as we had theater tickets. One of the most disappointing meals in years In NYC. We will not return.
The starters were delicious. We enjoyed the spreads, crab cakes, octopus and breaded zucchini
Good food, beautiful place, loud at lunch.
Not sure what was going on in the restaurant but we were a group of 8, with 2 children. We were there on a Sunday at 4:00 and the only people in the place. Service was so slow it took 3 hours for us to dine there. Plus they got many of our items wrong. We ordered a plate of buttered pasta for a child and it took 2 hours to come out. They kept apologizing but not a place I’d go back to. The food was good but not worth the awful experience.
The whole fish and lemon potatoes - delicious! Ambience very nice.
Great food, excellent service.
The food was solidly good, but not great, especially considering the cost. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.
Thank goodness Kellari Taverna has survived the pandemic. Undoubtedly the best Greek food and some of the best fish in the theater district. Always a pleasure to eat here. The service is friendly, unstuffy, and gets you to the stage on time.
Our lunch at Kellari Taverna was delicious. Our server was wonderful and they recognized our anniversary with complimentary champagne!
Delicious grilled fish and sides. White retsina wine. Also the lamb chop are outstanding.
