The ambience and service here are top notch. The food choices for vegetarians and fish eaters are excellent. The pre-theatre dinner special is good value for the money. I only gave a 4-star rating for the food because the bread was stale. I think it had been heated to "freshen" it but the result was that one side was hard (as if toasted) and the other side was soft.
food was unfortunately only average, even though reasonably priced.
We ordered from the Brunch menu and were very pleased. I had the poached eggs over crab and I highly recommend it.
Great food, nice menu selection of fresh fish and other items. Service was excellent.
The food and ambiance at Kellari was fine as usual but the food service was subpar. They ran out of the pre-theatre menu specials early and despite telling the wait staff that we were there for a show the service didn’t pick up any speed and we were scrambling to get out of there on time. Didn’t make for a great experience.
The food is terrific. I would suggest the grilled octopus and Lavraki but everything is good.
Excellent food and reasonable price for a pre theater menu.
Great Greek food with lots of healthy options and other delicacies
Excellent modern Greek taverna. Very good food, ambience and service. Make reservations, fills up fast.
This is great for when you want perfectly prepared high-end Greek food. Their salads and seafood dishes are my favorite, all with generous portions (so consider sharing). The atmosphere is appropriate for business and social dining.
Fresh seafood, all dishes were well prepared. Great brunch choice.
Always enjoy this restaurant. Consistent in every (good) way. Easy walk from Grand Central so location convenient for me pre-theatre or just for a midtown visit.
Impeccable fish and interesting presentation - a lovely meal all around. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Lovely service. Great price fixe menú.
excellent choice for a pre-theatre dinner. the three course dinner is well worth it.
We love Kellari’s! We make a point of eating there at least once whenever we are in NYC. The location is great. The food is great. The ambiance is great. Mostly, the personal attention by the manager and staff is the greatest! A trip to the Big Apple would not be complete for us without eating and enjoying the folks at Kellari’s.
nice place. good vibe . good food options. appropriate portions. service is slow when crowded.
Always a great meal! We are sure to return soon. Pre and post-theater dinners are a good value.
Love the check in lady that speaks polish.
Food was fresh. Server was attentive. We were dining pre-theater and dinner was timely but not rushed.
The sea bass over orzo was so salty I couldn't eat it. The biggest problem was that the service was incredibly slow.
Appetizers were brought out in a timely fashion, the entree’s were not. Almost an hour from when we arrived to when the entree’s were brought out. My customers needed to get back to work so some did not even have time to finish. The food when it finally came out was cold. Seemed to have been sitting for a while prior to being brought out.
Anniversary
Great food, prices, and ambiance!! Going to try the DC location
We were there for my husband’s b’day and it was noisy dark and too close to our table neighbors. We chose the pre fix menu which was full of choices and availed ourselves
Of the raw bar which was great!! The server was not too helpful but we had excellent food!!
I have only had brunch at Kellari ( many times), and have always
been very satisfied with the quality of the food, the value of the brunch, and
the service. The crab and eggs (a variation of eggs benedict) are superb.
Weekend in NYC.
I have eaten at Kellari Taverna before and it seems to have declined. I ordered the Calamari appetizer which was very good and the Lavraki (Sea Bass) on philo pastry. The fish was overcooked - and I don't think it was sea bass - and the philo was not worth eating. Overall, I was disappointed. I took a large group of friends there and I am not sure I would take friends there again.
Loved it, good for any occasion. Ours was a business dinner, good team, good service, thanks Kellari, looking forward to being back.
Been here several times and always enjoyed the evening but.............this time the evening started with the waiter stating... we are out of the lamb, scallops, ravioli, spanakopita and it went down hill from there. Running out of 1/3 of your menu and providing indifferent service is not going to get it done at Kellari's prices. Come on group, you can do better than this.
Me and my wife have not been there for 4 years since the week I proposed to my wife. Still amazing, service is the greatest and food on point with a great wine list too. We will go again many time to come and recommend to others going to nyc.
Great place to meet for brunch. Quiet enough to talk. Great food, service and ambience.
I was looking for a place for having diner with my husband on valentine’s day and for my surprise I found that place. We both had lamb and it was amazing .
The first waiter (in white shirt) was nice, but the other waiter (in black shirt, older, pouring water and collecting plates) was rude, he spilled water on the table and a customer, he did not even say a word.
I have been to this restaurant few times in the past and the experiences were fair, but not this time. We arrived 5:45 and left 8:50 pm - Too long because we had to wait about an hour between the appetizers and the entrees -no explanations, no apologies. Just got the look "Oops, I forgot!" on the waitress's face. Our neighboring tables were served before us and already left while we were waiting. The places were not hot enough as if they were cooked while ago. If we receive words of honest apologies, a word or two, we would understand. People make mistakes and it is inevitable. Our valentine dinner of 250 dollars would have been better. Sorry for my criticism, but I believe Kellari Taverna could take an extra time to educate employees as better service providers.
Very enjoyable.
Pretty good
I went with a friend for lunch. It was a good food, but the service was not superb. I had reservation, but table was not reserved. It took long time to bring dishes, dessert was forgotten and was wait for a check.
Kellari Taverna is our "go to" restaurant for a Mediterranean meal. Good drinks, starters and main courses with professional service.
Outstanding quality Greek food, wide selection, great value, wonderful location. A hair on the noisy side but worth it unless you really value quiet.
