We arrived for the first brunch seating at noon on a Saturday and were incredibly disappointed to find that they were “out” of Bloody Mary’s!!! Height of holiday tourist season early on a Saturday??? The holiday ambience was lovely and service was great. The food was just so-so, nothing spectacular for the price. Wouldn’t go back!

I like but the restaurant but the last two times I have eaten there the quality of the produce has not been good. Greek restaurants usually get great tomatoes and cucumbers all year. The past two times they have been less than average. This is a strength of greek restaurants. I hope they can improve their quality of produce as there are other Greek restaurants that are very popular in NYC that I might end up gravitating to all the time since twice has not been so good

Our dinner at Kellari was wonderful!! The food and service were both amazing! We had grilled octopus and zucchini fritters for appetizers, Dover sole and lobster orzo for entrees, and vanilla custard pastry for dessert. They were all truly delicious! We will absolutely be back any time we’re in NYC! P.S. Sylvia was the sweetest server!

I've being taking client to Kellari tavern for years and yesterday will mark my last time. I arrived after my 2 guests, we'd a table of 4 booked but I had just learnt that one couldn't join us so modified to 3 - my two guests were standing about 3 feet behind me between the hostess stand and the bar and the hostess insisted they stand in front of her desk to be seated (made no sense!). Then we were put in a large share table at the back of the restaurant. Ordering and starters was fine despite getting cold tomato soup - but waiter never came back to check, no seasoning etc... Then we waited for over an hour for our entree and our waiter pretty much hid for this time. I'd to ask others at one point I caught his attention and he suggested it would be a further 5 mins, it was a further 20. We had to rush the res to the meal. My client had an empty club soda during this, I'd to ask another waiter to refill. Charged for that which just seemed insulting based on the service experience. Dreadful. Game over for me at Kellari after years.

One of the best restaurants in NYC for fish! The Fagri was amazing as was the Black Sea bass. Great service and great wine selection

Great spot for Greek food! The zucchini chips were amazing as was the tuna tartare and calamari appetizers. The octopus app was amazing and a very generous portion. A friend enjoyed the soup immensely. Also, the tuna steaks were cooked to perfection . The chicken was simple but delicious. And definitely have the baklava for dessert

Food was delicious! Appetizers were huge portions as were the entrees. The restaurant is beautiful. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic night out. Our waiter Carlos was OUTSTANDING!!!! He was extremely knowledgeable of all the items on the menu. He gave an excellent wine pairing for our meal. And was attentive to our every need. He was also very personable! He and the wait staff sang me Happy Birthday candle and all with a me an absolutely delicious dessert! And it was complimentary to boot! It was truly a delicious memorable meal and evening! Thank you Carlos and Kellari Taverna!

Kellari Tavenra is one of our go-to-restaurants whenever we're visiting New York City. The food is outstanding and there's a wide variety, especially for those who like fish. It's beautifully decorated and the service is excellent. Very convenient for a pre-Broadway dinner. We'll be back.

I have been to Kellari before and the food has been excellent, as it was last Saturday night. Unfortunately, the service was horrendous. It took 20 minutes to give our drink orders, our appetizers arrived before our drinks, I never got my wine. The main course came out at 7:30 when we had told the waitress upon arriving that we had 8 o’clock theater tickets. This was my birthday dinner that my kids were treating me to. It was so stressful worrying about where our food was. And I never got to blow out a candle. They really ruined my bday dinner. Bottom line, the restaurant is lovely. The food is delicious, but DO NOT go here for pre-theater dining.

We went for a pretheatre dinner at Kellari's, having always enjoyed the seafood and service. The room was understaffed, as was the kitchen, so long waits for getting anything....bread, drinks. Once we flagged down an overwhelmed waiter and got the order placed, more waiting. Finally served at about 7:40 in advance of an 8 pm show. And then the salmon came out barely seared and 90% raw so had to be sent back. Not a pleasant experience, and I don't think we will be going back.

Warm friendly service! Fabulous food! Very accommodating to our requests. 44th is my absolute favorite street in the Broadway district, so many gems - with Kalari being the ultimate gem.

Staff very knowledgeable about their gluten free options. Excellent food, attentive staff, beautiful esthetics. Pricy but definitely worth a splurge. Pre- theater price fixed menu had many delicious options.

Overall the Kellari Taverna is worth coming back to. However, be aware that during lunch or dinner times it is very crowded and quite noisy, with tables set side by side if you come as a couple. As such there will be no privacy, but to be fair that is the way things are at most NYC restaurants, so not a real differentiator to the negative. The food is very good to excellent as a function of what one orders, again, worth the trip. Service during lunch hour is actually quite good considering that the place is packed with patrons all looking for a meal at the same time. The tuna sandwich was excellent, as was a grilled octopus appetizer, and other mains we have had in the past were similarly quite good. The bottom line is that this is a solid value in terms of finding a good meal in NY.

I agree with every poor review here. Lovely room; mediocre, overpriced food; the service: TERRIBLE. Bad experiences 2 out of 3. NEVER AGAIN. Once, our server brought no house hors d'oeuvre/bread. When asked, her reply: "I don’t know what that is; we don’t give anything like that." I had it before, we could see it on other tables as we waited, and there are photos of it on Yelp. NEVER GOT IT. Mediocre meal. Instead of dessert we asked to share a glass of wine. She brought one glass and left, expecting me to pour it. I waved her back and asked to please have the bartender split it, in fresh glasses—or serve it in a carafe. Her reply: “I thought you might prefer to do that yourself.” Next visit was after-theater dinner at 10pm. The hostess checked the computer, pressing buttons, then said I canceled the reservation—it was still on my phone! She canceled the reservation herself. Plenty of tables at 10—never should have been an issue. We were seated (the hors d'oeuvre arrived!), and we waited. After 10+ minutes the waiter came for a drink order. The hostess didn’t give a wine list. We decided on a wine and asked to try before deciding on a bottle. He brought a thimble of wine, barely a taste, not enough for 2 sips. The bottle arrives; he just opens and pours—no testing first. FINE. Order in—apps, entrees. After the meal I ask for the dessert menu—this is 11pm—their delays. “No, the kitchen is closed and there is no dessert now.” The menu has ice creams/sorbets—not even a scoop of sorbet, or cookies? Was never told beforehand that the kitchen closes at 11 and dessert must be ordered in advance. Or even the option of an after-dinner drink. Manager is called over, gracious man—waiter disappears, never seen again—and we’re given complimentary chocolate-rice crispy-type balls. NO THANK YOU. Inattentive service by young inexperienced, untrained people whose poor service is a DISSERVICE to all the hard-working good staff there. Still tipped, regretfully—totally undeserved.
