Went to Kellari Tarverna for lunch on Tuesday. Food is always fresh and delicious. Service was impeccable. Recommend.
Had a great time with friends visiting out of town. We had the octopus, zucchini, crab cake and the cheese to start. Absolutely delicious. Our mains were the seafood risotto with Branzino (that night's special) and the lamb shanks off the menu both were phenomenal.
They did not have a number of the items on their menu. What they did have, which we ordered, was very good.
They were out of every dish except one, and out of baklava. The appetizer dips were good, but the meals (lamb chops and sea bass) were mediocre at best. This used to be a reliable restaurant within a short distance of the theatre district, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Delicious lunch, especially for pre-theatre. Staff was terrific!
Food was very good and service was excellent--I would recommend this restaurant
We were seated at first table by door although we requested further away from. It was very windy and cold every time door opened. Eventually we got moved to a better area. Tables were small and menu alone covered the table. Then service was extremely slow taking one hour before we were served anything other than drinks. Food was good! It was very noisy but lots or patrons trying to talk above loud music. Was not our best dining experience in NYC. And very expensive we felt for what we ordered.
Hosted greeted us with open arms, we immediately knew we were in for a Greek treat.
Food was excellent unfortunately the service and ambiance were not. The hostess (manager?) was extremely curt, the waiter was rather inattentive and my husband did not even get a “happy birthday “ to make our special occasion feel special! Our biggest complaint, however, was the fact that a large party took over half the restaurant making it impossible to have a conversation! It was very unfortunate!
Very nice for any situation
We were seated outside because Inside was way too noisy and we were literally forgotten. The food took long to come out. The fish was undercooked. The Greek salad and the lamb chops lacked seasoning. Way too expensive for what we received.
The lunch special is always delicious and filling, and the ambiance -- for a group of 6 meeting to catch up -- was perfect (although a little loud). I've done this before and will do it again.
Greek food at its best
Great spot for biz lunch but service is a bit slow & something is off about the acoustics of the place as it's hard to hear others @ the circular tables.
A really beautiful place. Service was quite good. The fish special filet of bronzing was fresh and tasty. Grilled asparagus outstanding. The taramasalata was really too salty but pita was excellent. And the galactaboureko was not traditional, and too rich for our taste. White Greek wine delicious!
It was a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food is delicious (specializing in fresh fish), the ambiance is appealing with tables spread far enough apart that you have privacy, and the noise level is quite tolerable. The service was prompt. We can recommend the truffle fries, the lemon potatoes, the fresh fish of the day (whatever it is is likely to be great), and the mousakka croquettes. The wine selection was good and the prices were reasonable. Our Cakebreak Cellars chardonnay paired well with the meal. Highly recommend Kellari Tavern for either happy hour or dinner in the theater district. It is between 5th and 6th on 44th, so a perfect location.
Newly, nicely renovated setting, superb thoughtful service, and delicious Greek food, in an atmosphere where one could converse across the table
As I've been to Kellari many times before, I took this opportunity to introduce a friend to this restaurant after a show. As usual, it was a very pleasant experience with great company, great food and wonderful service. We will be back!
The meal here was underwhelming and did not hit the spot.I ordered filet mignon and I didn’t enjoy the cut or the flavor of the spinach.
So disappointing tonight. Had raved about your menu with packed delicious Greek foods to choose from to our friends. Instead very few items to choose from and our party only liked 1 item which was the lamb shank.
We wanted to order the prestigious Greek liquor called Mythos which makes an awesome Mojito. I have had it several times here, but now they don’t offer it. It’s Greek!! From the 1,000 Tears of the oldest trees in Crete!
The appetizers used to have an array of dazzling items to chose from, but not so now.
The Moussaka appetizer was awful. Fried balls on the outside and very very little resemblance to Moussaka on the inside. You get the idea…..
Will not be returning again.
Our Lavraki was delicious. The service was excellent and Melody, the hostess, could not have been more accommodating for my friend's Birthday event.
We will return without hesitation to Kellari's the next time we are in Manhattan.
This is a WONDERFUL restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious, the service was A+, and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Would definitely return!
Service was so so and tried to pass off a 2019 wine for a 2017 I picked without telling me, then charged the same price!!
The Kellari chips with dip were great appetizer , amd my Branzino was delicious .
My daughters sea bass was too plain and should have come with more garnish/vegetable/ rice on plate . We ordered a side of spinach which was good, but again, presentation too plain.
Our server was particularly great - Angel H. Made a great wine recommendation and made the experience fantastic!
We had a lovely dinner at the Kellari Tavern last WE as a family. Food es delicious and generous, service swift and professional and wine recommendations great (discovered really nice Greek wines) . We recommend absolutely!
Slow service and they were out of a lot of their menu choices. Friendly staff though.
If you're looking for a pre-or-post-theatre dinner, Kellari Tavern is an excellent choice. At the eastern edge of the theatre district (44th between 6th and 5th) it's like walking from the humming, touristy streets of Broadway onto the pier of a Greek Island fishing village. Quiet, calm, with discreet service and fresh fish -- a lovely alternative to the over-booked, over-priced Italian spots further west.
Food was cold when it reached the table, when re-ordering drinks did not get the same drink as before, wait staff not attentive (had to flag her down to ask for things) and I had to get up and get sharing plates we asked for. Value not there for the prices. It is sad as I have been to this restaurant many times and was looking forward to the dinner. A sad disappointment it has fallen so far. I will miss going there
Great food and extra friendly service.
Great place to eat before broadway show. Calamari and octopus was outstanding..service was awesome waiter recommend great choice of wine offerings a taste before I ask...only lamb shanks was a bit disappointing on dry side .. But baklava was outstanding
Love the food here, but the outdoor space has really lost its charm - between the road work, increased traffic and dismantling their structure
Lovely place with very good food and service. Would definitely eat here again
Everything fine except staff not great with English. Waiter was excellent
Excellent pre-theatre meal. Delicious. Attentive service.
I've been to this restaurant for cocktails and snacks before. First time for dinner. Great bartender, friendly and does a good pour. Food was delicious and wait staff friendly, attentive, and very patient. I'll be back.
delicious lunch for business meeting in the heart of downtown!
The food and service was outstanding! Great place for pre and post theater doing .
Staff is always great and bartender so nice
