Love the check in lady that speaks polish.
Food was fresh. Server was attentive. We were dining pre-theater and dinner was timely but not rushed.
The sea bass over orzo was so salty I couldn't eat it. The biggest problem was that the service was incredibly slow.
Appetizers were brought out in a timely fashion, the entree’s were not. Almost an hour from when we arrived to when the entree’s were brought out. My customers needed to get back to work so some did not even have time to finish. The food when it finally came out was cold. Seemed to have been sitting for a while prior to being brought out.
Great food, prices, and ambiance!! Going to try the DC location
We were there for my husband’s b’day and it was noisy dark and too close to our table neighbors. We chose the pre fix menu which was full of choices and availed ourselves
Of the raw bar which was great!! The server was not too helpful but we had excellent food!!
Weekend in NYC.
I have eaten at Kellari Taverna before and it seems to have declined. I ordered the Calamari appetizer which was very good and the Lavraki (Sea Bass) on philo pastry. The fish was overcooked - and I don't think it was sea bass - and the philo was not worth eating. Overall, I was disappointed. I took a large group of friends there and I am not sure I would take friends there again.
Loved it, good for any occasion. Ours was a business dinner, good team, good service, thanks Kellari, looking forward to being back.
Been here several times and always enjoyed the evening but.............this time the evening started with the waiter stating... we are out of the lamb, scallops, ravioli, spanakopita and it went down hill from there. Running out of 1/3 of your menu and providing indifferent service is not going to get it done at Kellari's prices. Come on group, you can do better than this.
Me and my wife have not been there for 4 years since the week I proposed to my wife. Still amazing, service is the greatest and food on point with a great wine list too. We will go again many time to come and recommend to others going to nyc.
Great place to meet for brunch. Quiet enough to talk. Great food, service and ambience.
I was looking for a place for having diner with my husband on valentine’s day and for my surprise I found that place. We both had lamb and it was amazing .
The first waiter (in white shirt) was nice, but the other waiter (in black shirt, older, pouring water and collecting plates) was rude, he spilled water on the table and a customer, he did not even say a word.
I have been to this restaurant few times in the past and the experiences were fair, but not this time. We arrived 5:45 and left 8:50 pm - Too long because we had to wait about an hour between the appetizers and the entrees -no explanations, no apologies. Just got the look "Oops, I forgot!" on the waitress's face. Our neighboring tables were served before us and already left while we were waiting. The places were not hot enough as if they were cooked while ago. If we receive words of honest apologies, a word or two, we would understand. People make mistakes and it is inevitable. Our valentine dinner of 250 dollars would have been better. Sorry for my criticism, but I believe Kellari Taverna could take an extra time to educate employees as better service providers.
I went with a friend for lunch. It was a good food, but the service was not superb. I had reservation, but table was not reserved. It took long time to bring dishes, dessert was forgotten and was wait for a check.
Kellari Taverna is our "go to" restaurant for a Mediterranean meal. Good drinks, starters and main courses with professional service.
Outstanding quality Greek food, wide selection, great value, wonderful location. A hair on the noisy side but worth it unless you really value quiet.
As always - a wonderful experience. An Outstanding food selection prepared phenomenally. The service is friendly and professional with an upbeat mood throughout the restaurant.
The table was near the front door and the constant cold from the door made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The salads contained overcooked chicken and a shrimp that tasted like chemicals and went uneaten. For a restaurant that came highly recommended by colleagues, this was a real disappointment.
Great meal. Wonderful server. The only quibble would be the attitude of the person at the front desk - not the friendliest or pleasant.
We dined here with another couple. The appetizers were fine. One in our party ordered a seared tuna dish that the kitchen struggled to get right. Though ordered rare, the first attempt came out medium well and the second attempt came out raw. the third attempt was a remake of the second which was cooked acceptably but the presentation was not. The fish was supposed to be encrusted but was not. the coating was disturbed and not the dish that I am sure was intended. The three other entrees were fine but this one experience was disappointing enough to prevent us from returning.
We met my extended family for lunch and they were serving predominantly an egg based brunch menu and way over priced for what was being served.
My wife’s Greek omelette did not have any cheese.
The waiter was pleasant and efficient.
The restaurant is dated.
This was our second less than optimal experience at Kellari that used to be one of our favorite restaurants, and we are not likely to return.
A great deal during restaurant week for a delicious dinner!
great spot for lunch. Food is good- service was excellent
Kellari is a great standby for an excellent business lunch, with food that’s consistently very good and in an environment that’s not ostentatious.
They never disappoint
Service was a bit harried. Fish was overcooked/well-done though requested to be seared/rare. Lemon requested for water never came.
Great restaurant and delicious food. Came for restaurant week and to celebrate a birthday. I highly recommend Kellari Taverna!!
Kellari Taverna did not offer Sunday Dinner Restaurant Week even though the NYC Restaurant Week website indicated they did along with a menu. The manager didn’t bother coming over when we asked the waiter to explain the discrepancy. Service was slow and indifferent even though barely 1/4 of the place was filled at 5 pm. My tiny scallops came after 1/2 hour along with my friends’ lobster feast for two. Bread was tough, lobsters a bit overdone, chocolate dessert still frozen. I’ve been to Kellari a few times over the last 4 years but haven’t been this past year. I guess their management and staff changed? Or is it just their customer service philosophy? Will NOT be back. Stay away.
Food was amazing! Try the fried Brussels sprouts!
Best lamb shank I’ve ever had. Salmon tartare and walnut cake.
We loved it! The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We celebrated a birthday and they took such good care of us. Truly, a wonderful part of our trip to New York City. We hope to be back.
Nice and prompt service, good food to enjoy.
Restaurant is pleasant, a little bit loud. Good location near public transportation.
I come once an year to NYC, and always dine at Kellari.
I keep thinking why they always tell me the cork was broke when I ask for it.
I love this restaurant
The food is consistently great
Went for restaurant week prior to a show
Was fantastic - Cod Plaki was flavorful and for dessert the Portokalopita was the best dessert I’ve had in a long time
It’s a must try
