Set across two levels, the ground floor houses the main dining room while the subterranean level is made up of two enclosed rooms, perfect for private dining and events. Kefi’s spacious bar area serves an extensive Greek wine list, specialty cocktails, ouzo shots and a full menu of meze, appetizers and entrees along with Happy Hour food & drink specials 5pm - close Mon-Fri and 3pm - close Sat & Sun.
I have eaten here several times and always very happy with both the food and the wonderful service...friends I bring are equally impressed!
Service wasn’t great. Wine wasn’t either. Food was quite good but portions were kind of small for the price. ambience was nice and it was quiet enough to catch up with friends.
Back to their original location, and imho an excellent move. A smaller more intimate place. Food was great. A winner!
The food continues to be very good. Highly recommended: bulgur salad with dates, shrimp with orzo, and the always good roast chicken with potatoes. Service is excellent. The room is very noisy, and while we adjusted, it’s a shock at first. We wish the menu was more extensive, with more choices. But it’s still a very good local restaurant, and we hope it prospers. You will eat well, at a reasonable price, with friendly service.
Excell next restaurant - food, service & staff!!
Fantastic service and the grilled octopus is to die for and a must order.
I have not been to many Greek restaurants but when I return to NYC I will definitely go back. The service was fantastic but the food was the star. Absolutely outstanding. All dishes were new to me but I enjoyed everything I tried especially the meatballs.
The food was delicious and the service was flawless. What else can I say? Oh and the portions were big.
Troy was a terrific server.
Annie couldn’t have been more gracious
Zach the bartender was very friendly and nice
I've been to Kefi many times but this time we had a very bad experience. The server and kitchen didn’t listen about food allergies or take it seriously and my young daughter had an allergic reaction. I won’t be back. I think the service and food have gone downhill over the years. I would caution anyone with food allergies to think twice before eating there.
The food is very good but the noise level detracts from the dining experience.
Kefi would benefit from installing acoustical tile or its equivalent. The noise often makes dinner conversation more effort than it is worth, and remembering that often keeps us from dining at Kefi. The food is good, especially the various fish presentations, and drinks are equally good. It's a welcome Greek restaurant in the 'hood, and has been for years at the various locations.
Food was delivered quickly and extremely tasty and delicious
The food and drinks were very good with one exception. We ordered a side of grilled vegetables and it appeared that most of the vegetables were steamed and not grilled. The other dishes (Kefi salad and shrimp) were terrific. The bread looked great, too, but I am gluten-intolerant and I had to miss out!
Our waiter was snarky. We shared an appetizer but didn’t receive share plates even after we asked. We took bread plates from an empty table behind us. After finishing our appetizer, we put our utensils on the plate to be cleared. The busboy took them off the plate and put them on the table to be reused for the entrees. Our friends ordered a dinner from the menu that was meant for two people but again no share plates. To compensate us, the waiter brought a complimentary piece of baklava for the four of us to share and you guessed it, no share plates. When we asked for plates, the waiter made a joke about the irony. I would like to point out that I’ve never posted a negative review on Open Table prior to this.
This is our second time visiting Kefi - still great food and a great neighborhood find in the Upper West Side. Their move from Amsterdam Ave. to 79th only made this place quieter and more intimate in size. Food is still perfect! Eggplant appetizer a must for starts, then follow with the whole branzino!
Ok food, nothing really stood out; Greek margaritas were weird; seafood stew lacked character
Wonderful food. Too noisy for relaxed conversation. A/C was uncomfortably high.
Charging for extra pita seemed chintzy.
Good was wonderful! Service went above and beyond!
Very nice place. Good food and really nice people. I will definitely return
Good food good service
Kefi is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. It's a great place to meet with friends for a relaxed lunch or dinner (less busy earlier or during the week for dinner). Their food is consistently delicious.
Delicious meal! Can't wait to go back!
Pretty good experience mainly because of the service. Everybody was friendly and helpful. Food came out pretty quick. Everything was tasty just a little costly but given the location it’s expected. The atmosphere could be a little more Greek. The appetizers And the rest of the food was good.
Excellent food and service. A great find! We looked last minute for a place on the UWS before heading to a show and this was perfect. My husband had the grilled octopus and the lamb burger and said they were excellent. I had a salad and grilled branzino, also excellent and reasonably priced. Would return.
Great place, I wish there was a way to they could soften the harsh tones of other diners' voices which seem to bounce off the basement walls and ceiling.
Went for my birthday a few weeks ago - then again for my husband's birthday 3 weeks later. Both meals were SPECTACULAR! And I loved that they had Diet Coke in the little glass bottles!
I wish we could afford to go more often. The food really was outstanding!
Overall very good, although they've taken my favorite dishes off the menu since they moved. I still like the restaurant, but I'm not eager to return.
Very comfortable neighborhood place. Better than at it’s Columbus Ave location although many of our old favorites are still on menu.
Beautiful "greenhouse" area to sit in towards the back. When it's full, it's too noisy. Pick an off hour and it's a delightfully intimate spot. They make lamb to perfection, especially their Greek osso bucco with orzo.
We enjoy the food and the service and find prices to be reasonable.
We have already recommended your restaurant to friends and
will continue to be guests in the future.

We were there on Mother's Day, which is always hectic of course. They were out of a few dishes and the food seemed hastily put together and more plain-jane in"presentation" than I would have expected - and I am no foody with enormous expectations . So basically it was OK, but then $190.00 for three (one whiskey, one beer, one glass of wine; two appetizers and three main course) isn't exactly great value.
My sons, husband and I had another fantastic meal at Kefi Saturday night. Food is outstanding, staff is friendly, place is cozy and dining room is bright. We will definitely be back!
I have been to Kefi a number of times and as usual it was very good.Food very good, service very good, and price fair. would definitely recommend this restaurant to people. In a different location now,, but not far from where it was. I specially like their three humus selections and they octopus dish. Bread was not as good as usual though.
We enjoyed dinner at Kefi with two people that had never been there before. The starters of dip with pita and Greek salad were both great. My husband and our guests got the lamb chops, which they loved. My grilled fish was beautifully cooked and delicious.
Lovely restaurant with delicious fish and food. Attentive service.
Very disappointing would not reccomend.
There are way better places for Greek. This one doesn't seem particularly authentic. It was actually hard ordering so we wound up just doing a bunch of small plates. We left a bit hungry.
Great food as usual. And nice and quiet at lunchtime. Also very good service. The chicken kebab was particularly good as was the salad we ordered - with pomegranate seeds. I also like their cappachino
