Set across two levels, the ground floor houses the main dining room while the subterranean level is made up of two enclosed rooms, perfect for private dining and events. Kefi’s spacious bar area serves an extensive Greek wine list, specialty cocktails, ouzo shots and a full menu of meze, appetizers and entrees along with Happy Hour food & drink specials 5pm - close Mon-Fri and 3pm - close Sat & Sun.
Had high expectations going in and was disappointed but could have been an off night.
Unfortunately I was disappointed this time. While the main course was okay, the dessert, Bougatsa was really terrible. It was served cold and tasted like it had been around for a few days. The filling was a big hard lump of custard. Expected more from this restaurant. Shame because last time I went (at its old location which was much nicer), it was really good.
Used to like this place a bit more at old location. New location is louder and tighter. Service adequate. Lamb shank and crab cakes were excellent. Calamari just ok. Drink just ok.
Superb service and the food was delicious. Everything came out punctually and wonderfully hot.
Third time visiting Kefi. We love the new location and the food is just as good. Although the portions seem to have increased and that makes enjoying all that Kefi has to offer more difficult! We loved the knowledgeable waitstaff and love people watching there. Try the octopus and the lamb shank although everything is good. I dream about that octopus!
Excellent food, ambiance and service!
had not been to Kefi's since it moved back to its original digs, downstairs at West 79th. Used to ber a bit pricey for Greek food, but good and lively. Not anymore!
Food at Kefi is good, not great. Noise level is high. Why don't you do something to reduce that??
Service is erratic and frequently disappointing as was the case this recent time.
First time here, we shared 4 "Meze" and I loved three of them. Our service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable and quiet enough to talk! Will return.
We had gluten free and vegan diet issues in our party and the waiter was terrific and the food was totally yummy!
Lovely evening would recommend to friend. Love, the food.
Appetizer of hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant was generous and well-prepared, although a bit pricey at $20. For that price, I would have hoped they would provide extra pita at no additional cost. Lambchops and bronzino were both delicious. Tender, cooked well, and seasoned perfectly. Our server was patient, warm, and helpful. Restaurant was full on a Saturday night, but noise level was such that we could have a conversation. All in all, a wonderful meal and I would definitely return.
I find the food at Kefi consistently tasty, fresh, and interesting. They are also willing to modify sides as needed to accommodate special dietary needs, which I really appreciate.
Solid food. Reasonable price. Excellent service. Read some bad reviews before - was a little skeptical as a result. Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way.
Kefi was terrible. The server was rude and incompetent. The noise level was so awful that we went elsewhere for dessert.
Food mediocre at best and very greasy.... we will not be back.
Always love it. This time, however, Michael's burger was dry.
While the service was good the food was not. I would not go back.
Like this local place but two of the three of us asked to have our chicken well cooked. Neither meal came that way. And the noice level was way to high.
I’ll go back but not with more than one person.
Very hard to hear.
Should have known from the enlarged menu outside the entrance that it will it be pseudo touristy and not very good. Cramped, loud, stuffy (the air). Way overpriced considering the meager portions and barely adequate quality. Hard to believe this restaurant is run by the MP Tavernac crew.
This is a great neighborhood place. Lamb chops were delicious, vegetables were cooked properly (just the right amount). Only complaint is that the A/C kicked on about halfway through dinner and blew right on our heads. It was a cool fall day. Several table in our area asked the waiter to turn it down; he said he did but we were chilly for the rest of the meal.
A nice, out of the way place, stretching back under a building on W. 79th, where one can find lots of authentic traditional Greek dishes, among other, more modern fare. The appetizer trio of hummus, roasted eggplant, and yogurt with cucumber was delicious, and the best part of the meal. We could have just ordered more of that and filled up to our heart's content. Fried calamari, garbanzos and cauliflower was overly breaded and greasy, and one couldn't taste the difference between them. Main courses were decent, and we were too filled for dessert.
Calm ambiance and delicious entrees. Good for conversations. Knowledgeable staff. Neighborhood gem.
Great disappointment. Noise level and crowing of tables were highly problematic. Server under too much pressure and spread too thin. Of major dishes, one was very good and the other borderline acceptable—overlooked and tired ingredients
I have eaten here before and the service and meal made it a good decision to return. My entree was a hanger steak, perfectly cooked. The Kefi salad was one to order again. Definitely a place to return to.
The "new" Kefi is a fabulous place! Beautiful, cozy, warm...you feel like you've been transported to a quaint little place in Greece. The food was OUTSTANDING...I am still dreaming about the fried artichokes (an appetizer special last Saturday night)...Kefi salad was delicious and big enough to split, organic chicken with lemon and garlic and hangar steak entrees were also just perfect. We had wine by the glass...for $14, it is a generous size, which I really appreciate (can't stand when they pour half an inch!). Dessert was great, as well. We had a wonderful server...wish I knew her name...but all the service people from the water boys to the host were attentive and gracious. For the quality food, beautiful atmosphere, great service and prices, this place is a tremendous value. I can't wait to go back again and again...thank you Kefi!!!!!
Pleasant good food- uneven heat- often cold
Good food, a little cramped. Very noisy. Attentive and friendly staff.
i thought for the value, it was way overpriced. The eggplant appetizer was $15, and ive had way better. Im sorry, i really wanted to like it.
This was the second time I had been there and it did not disappoint. We had my friends 2 children who like us were delighted with their menu choices and were particularly find of our waiter.
Great food. Very inappropriate waiter. Would return.
Very pleasant and efficient service. Nice décor, noise level between quiet and moderate. I selected moderate because the tables adjacent to ours were empty; it might be a bit louder if the restaurant were full. Grilled octopus was fantastic. Melitzanosalata was good, though not the very best I've had. I would definitely dine at Kefi again.
Loved everything about brunch at Kefi. The egg dishes, especially the shakshuka, were excellent, and the ricotta pancakes were amazing. They were covered with flaked halvah that partially melts into the pancake, which adds a different, sweet, nutty flavor -- so good! Service was friendly and warm, which is always appreciated. Will definitely return.
Best Greek of the Upper West Side!
Food excellent! Service really really poor.
We really enjoyed Kefi! The service was excellent. Attentive from start to finish but in no way were they hanging over us or intrusive. The food was also excellent. Crispy artichoke hearts, grilled octopus, shrimp and orzo and salmon over spinach were all flavorful and came out hot (lukewarm food ... big pet peeve of mine). The interior was nice for the price point. Huge and pretty bar that was quite inviting but we opted to sit at a table. Overall we enjoyed ourselves very much and I would certainly recommend Kefi to someone looking for a well run restaurant. Bottom line they met or exceeded expectations at this price point. Nicely done Kefi!
Your menu and food have always remained consistently great! Brought friends there this week who equally impressed! Been there at least 5 times---I'm from San Francisco
Highly recommend the mussels and gigantes starter - it was incredible! Great service and generous portions, you could probably share a starter between two people.
As usual Kefi provided a relaxed environment with excellent fish and good service - a neighborhood treasure!
Excellent meals. Gracious staff.
Really great for lunch with friends.
