Set across two levels, the ground floor houses the main dining room while the subterranean level is made up of two enclosed rooms, perfect for private dining and events. Kefi’s spacious bar area serves an extensive Greek wine list, specialty cocktails, ouzo shots and a full menu of meze, appetizers and entrees along with Happy Hour food & drink specials 5pm - close Mon-Fri and 3pm - close Sat & Sun.
From the mezedes to the grilled fish to the baklava, the food, wine and service were outstanding. And on this Tuesday evening the room was not full and noise level was comfortable.
Octopus octopus octopus!! Best I've ever had. It is outstanding every time, as is everything else.
This gem of a restaurant fits perfectly back in its original space. The food is delicious, the service attentive and funny, the space is comfortable and pretty.
Delicious Lavraki - whole fish.
Beautiful restaurant experience! We had a bottle of Cava which we enjoyed. We took our waiters suggestions on each portion of our meal. The grilled octopus was amazing. We had the lamb chops which were delicious as well as the branzino. For dessert we had the galaktoboureko and the baklava- we devoured each one. Next time we’re in town, we will definitely return.
Amazing service and food! We tried a bunch of different things and everything was amazing. The staff was incredible and made the experience that much better.
Excellent quality, preparation and service. Noise level and somewhat tight seating compromises andotherwise outstanding dining experience.
Everyone was friendly
Background music was relaxing
The food was amazing.
Come with an appetite.
They serve big portions.
Best part about this place is the prices.
I didn’t break my piggy bank. Just so I can enjoy a meal.
Good food and pleasant atmoshere - although a bit noisy. Although the menu is small and not especially inventive it was a nice place for a Sunday evening casual dinner
Lived the food. A bit loud but we love it there
Friendly and attentive server, cramped dining area, loud. Loudness was expected. The only veggie and pasta entre was OK. White sangria fairly tasteless. Inexpensive: $100 w/o tip for two entres, two sangria, and a bowl of soup.
Great service. Welcoming staff and awesome food options. We were very impressed
Keri provides a warm, cozy ambiance, good food and a delightful wait staff. Our party of four very much enjoyed our dinners from start to finish and decided on the spot to return soon.
I used to frequent Fish Tag (this Chef’s Restaurant in this same location before Kefi took back its original location on 79th) and the new Kefi is a disappointment honestly compared to what I used to get at Fish tag, or even what I had experienced in the other larger Kefi location, which was big and boisterous with all types of diners, families plus adults at the bar. This is much smaller, quiet, and a family restaurant, lots of children and strollers, and the food and service was diner-level quick. There was no clear vibe like there was at Fish Tag or the old Kefi location. We ordered, and our food came out less than 5 minutes later. The whole meal took a half hour, so if you need quick that is possible. The food itself was good, but not earth shattering, and the house white wine was just ok. I’ll certainly miss Fish Tag, which had a more interesting menu and wonderful selection of wine and drinks.
Very good Greek restaurant. We split the grill platter for two and the lamb, sausage, and pork were cooked to perfection. The chicken wasn't perfect, but still good. Would definitely go again!
Great food! Cute restaurant! Unfortunately it was loud.
Cozy and charming space
Excellent Greek food with generous portions and well-seasoned dishes
It was delicious! Definitely would dine there again when we go back to NYC.
Just excellent as always. The food is very memorable.
Quality was good, but expected something better for the high prices.
I picked this restaurant at random and was so happy that I did. The food is excellent but I was most taken by the warm, solicitous, and knowledgeable staff. If you are looking for a Greek restaurant on the Upper West Side this is it! I will definitely return.
Dinner for 3 was excellent! We were all happy with our meals. Always loved Kefi and was relieved to know you just moved and hadn’t closed!!!
Great food and service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Dewey the bartender is very welcoming and a true professional
Excellent service and food consistent.
We had tried to get into Kefi a few times without a reservation, which was impossible due to its popularity. So we were excited to make a reservation and finally eat there. I was SO disappointed with the food! We started with the Meze plate - the bread was fine but the dips were heavy and dry, as if they'd been sitting out, developing a crust for several hours before they were served, and the melezano salata was oily. (I've had much better versions of those same meze at Pasha, a Turkish restaurant also on the Upper West Side, and that restaurant is rarely full and has a prix fixe three-course dinner. I strongly recommend you try that, instead.) I was eating light and ordered the Greek salad and the Fasolada soup - both of which tasted as if a bottle of lemon juice had been poured into each one. So sour and tart that no other flavors were apparent and both were inedible. My husband had the lamb shank, which he said didn't taste bad, but it was served with orzo which did taste bad. The following night, we had MUCH better Greek food at La Lanterna in the West Village. I'm not sure why Kefi is so popular, but it's definitely not based on the quality or taste of the food. Steer clear!
Wel have been to Kefi many times and always enjoy ourselves. The food, the staff, the variety and especially the low noise level.
The food is good but the place is much too noisy and it feels a little cramped. The old location on Columbus Ave was much better.
When I lived in the neighborhood, was always my favorite restaurant. For a quick trip back to the city for a show, dinner was a must do and did not disappoint. Clean, fresh favors and great service as always. My dining companion enjoyed the octopus and is a tough critic so that is a big compliment.
Fantastic meal! Everything was exceptional.
Excellent Greek food; our 2nd experience there; highly recommended.
Like the new location. Always excellent grilled fish and grilled veg with a crisp assyrtiko. Meatball starter was tasty too - the one in a tomato sauce.
Wonderful, friendly service and delicious food in a cozy, but not loud, setting.
A gem in the Upper West Side!
the food is great but the chairs are SO UNCOMFORTABLE and the wine options are rather poor
We thoroughly enjoyed out time there and our meals there.
Great service and food
Very uncomfortable chairs !
Service was excellent from those host to server (Dan) to those who brought the food and cleared the table. Dan was very personable, friendly, and gave great suggestions on the food, especially with outer questions. Would highly recommend!!
Been going to Kefi,in fact, have been to all of the MP restaurants. Lovely service, like that they are back at the small space. Good food just wish the portions were larger!
The food was average to below average. They didn’t even have standard hummus.
Not as good as in the past. Keftefes did not taste well prepared and trout was tasteless
In the past food was better
