Anniversary. My wife loves sushi and the menu allowed her to indulge and I had lots of other things to choose from. Great apps, entres an dessert and our server was terrific. Highly recommend.
Our first trip to KaZe happened to be on Saturday night during Restaurant Week, so I don't know whether our experience was typical. The place was packed and LOUD, with the kitchen staff and servers working at a frenetic pace. All of our food was delicious, with the appetizers and entrees of ample size, although the dessert I selected (the brownie) was so small as to qualify as skimpy. The lag time between courses was less than ideal (20+ minutes passed between clearing our entrée plates and the appearance of our dessert), but we had a bird's-eye view of the kitchen and know that they were churning out food as quickly as they could.
Overall, a very nice experience. We'll be back!
Food was very good. Service was very slow and extremely disorganized. One member of our party waited at least 10 minutes to get his entree after everyone else was served. Had to ask for our wine to be brought two times after dinner was served. It must not be uncommon for them as they acted as though it was routine to have to be asked repeatedly for things and apologizes were never offered.
We were in town and restaurant week was going so we got to sample different things off the menu. Food was great, nice presentation, the service could improve.
We had a great time. Totally enjoyed the restaurant and bar in back both.
We enjoyed dining during Restaurant Week. It was my first visit, but won't be my last.
We wanted to try Kaze and made reservations during restaurant week. When we arrived there were many available tables and the hostess took us to a table right by the door and breezy. We asked to be seated at one of the empty booths and the hostess was obviously perturbed by our request. She grabbed the menus back and went over to the other table and slammed them down without a word and a very annoyed look on her face.
The waiter and manager were great and the food was good, but it was not a good start to our experience.
We had the short rib dupmplings, pork bun, pork belly ramen bowl, filet mignon, and panko chicken and brussels sprouts. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu, brownie and churros. It was all good, but we all loved the short rib dumplings the best.
Went to Kaze during Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week and loved it. Great options for the menu-- we chose to get 2 sushi rolls and one 3-course meal. For the 3 course we got the pork slider (great flavor), filet mignon (super tender), and the chocolate brownie. The sushi was okay, not the best, but the other food more than made up for it. Definitely would recommend.
My daughter and I went for Cincinnatis Restaurant Week. So of course the price was right. The menu was one of the best ones I had seen and the food was delicious. We would go back again. My daughter had OTR roll and filet mignon and I had the house salad and salmon.
Kaze called to confirm the reservation, allowed me to move it up 30 minutes AND asked if there were any allergies - I thought that was a step above the rest! :o) The food was really tasty and atmosphere was great.
Arrived early a reservation and they found us a table. Great food. Will be back
This was our first time to the restaurant. We were pleased with the setting and the ambiance, although not particularly spectacular. The menu doesn't appear especially adventurous when one reads it, but the dishes are fantastic in flavour, presentation and taste. Between the 6 of us, we ordered a total of 13 unique dishes. Each dish took a traditional taste and enhanced the flavours with a personal touch or twist. In particular, the rolls, the freshness of the unagi and the salmon entree were praised.
Smoked salmon sushi tough.
I visited Kaze with my 2 grandchildren after the ballet. The food and staff were excellent. The waitress was very professional and friendly and went out of her way to satisfy my young grandson.
The sushi was delicious. I was disappointed that they did have the same menu as their website. They did not have gyoza for appetizer and I probably would’ny have gone had I known that.
Always delicious and great service. They have an amazing outdoor bar and the courtyard is the perfect spot to relax. Highly recommend the food and experience.
Excellent! The sushi was fantastic!
We were really disappointed in the decline in quality of the food since our last visit. Food was bland. Sushi was mediocre. We won't be returning.
Overpriced food that had either too much flavor or none at all
The food was good but the service unbelievably slow. What is so tough about Pho and a tuna sushi roll? Slow service at Kaze has happened to me more than once. Somebody has got to get the kitchen organized.
Service was excellent, food was delicious! Love love love Kaze!
We were returning to Kaze after a year's hiatus, carrying a gift certificate that had been given to me by the restaurant because they had served us an atrociously terrible meal and poor service one Sunday night. "We didn't have our best foot forward they confessed." I figured a Saturday night would be better, which it was. The service from our humorous waiter was excellent. The sushi, which fell apart between chopsticks, was at best so-so. That it was at least partly a free meal was little consolation--we won't be returning.
Unrelated to Kaze, the idiot valet out front was nowhere to be found for twenty minutes, which forced me to find parking two blocks away. A first world problem, to be sure, but I do want this particular valet to know that he missed out on a really good tip.
What a great dinner we had at Kaze! Also a great place that takes reservations!!
Delicious food and fun for our son's 21st birthday. We enjoyed ourselves so much we forgot to take a photo. Sushi, ramen, pho, chicken katsu, fried rice, crème brulee, churros, in house sorbet were all amazing. Edamame was served cold which was unexpected and not to our liking, so we would try something different next time. Otherwise, it was a wonderful dining experience.
Our server chase (who wasn’t apparently our server but eager to help) was the best part. After doing sake bombs (wouldn’t suggest because they literally give you only a shot of beer) the table needed some sprucing up and chase was there to the rescue. We ordered dumplings, two rolls and sashimi platter. BELOW PAR. If you are looking for good quality sushi look elsewhere. Honestly maybe because we are from New York but this place just wasn’t good. Not recommended unless your into cheap below satisfaction American sushi.
Sushi is mediocre at best. As a Japanese restaurant I cannot believe how limited their menu is.
The chicken Kaze was amazing! Warm sake hit the spot. Very friendly and efficient service. Definitely recommend.
We had a very nice meal and drinks before the symphony. The wings were so good and we really enjoyed the vegetable bun. Their version of lettuce wraps are made with chicken confit. Our meatloaf was not your grandmothers and was delicious. Zula salad was fine. Our drinks were yummy too. Lots of energy in the room and service was spot on.
Miso soups was horrible. It did not taste how regular
Miso soups should taste. It was way over salted. Sushi was avaerage and pork ramen was not good
Great service and food!
Server forgot an appetizer, then disappeared...food is great, table service was not
The food is amazing! Best sushi I've ever had, but the service was really bad. Might be willing to give this place a second try just because of the food.
Service isn’t great. Over-priced. Inside dining room is not as aesthetically pleasing as the back bar lounge or outdoor patio. If I go back, I’d go for a drink, maybe two in those areas. The sushi is just okay and not half price in the dining area.
The food here used to be better, though the atmosphere was relatively spartan. Unfortunately, they managed to somehow flip that since our last visit. The inside was much nicer this visit, but the sushi rolls were falling apart. WHich is too bad, since there are so many more eating options in OTR.
I was very disappointed in the pho, thought the sushi was good. I was also seated next to a window and felt a draft.
Delicious food and good service in a foundational restaurant of OTR!
Dined at Kaze before our Ensemble play. Perfect meal - not too filling and so close to the theater. Food was good - fried rice had plenty of broccoli! Service was lovely and the decor is very nice! We would dine here again.
M daughter spent her 15Th birthdaywith her friends and really had a good time. She loves you guys and always wants to come back.
Thank you for the great service
Outstanding meal, very good service
First time here & very glad to see open on Sundays to try after symphony. Had reservation in main dining area which is better ambiance, however rear bar area offered happy hour menu & TVs for football game which was too appealing to pass up. Ordered menu items based on past reviews. Had pork belly bun - agreed it’s amazing! Should have ordered several more. Also had ramen, chicken lettuce wraps, & hanger steak - also above par. Steak was tasty & flavorful like a pot roast but much more pretty & sophisticated. From front door to back door, the staff was professional, friendly, & exuded experience & attentiveness! Looking forward to going back on a Friday night date night. Next time will try front bar.
