Service was excellent, food was delicious! Love love love Kaze!
We were returning to Kaze after a year's hiatus, carrying a gift certificate that had been given to me by the restaurant because they had served us an atrociously terrible meal and poor service one Sunday night. "We didn't have our best foot forward they confessed." I figured a Saturday night would be better, which it was. The service from our humorous waiter was excellent. The sushi, which fell apart between chopsticks, was at best so-so. That it was at least partly a free meal was little consolation--we won't be returning.
Unrelated to Kaze, the idiot valet out front was nowhere to be found for twenty minutes, which forced me to find parking two blocks away. A first world problem, to be sure, but I do want this particular valet to know that he missed out on a really good tip.
What a great dinner we had at Kaze! Also a great place that takes reservations!!
Delicious food and fun for our son's 21st birthday. We enjoyed ourselves so much we forgot to take a photo. Sushi, ramen, pho, chicken katsu, fried rice, crème brulee, churros, in house sorbet were all amazing. Edamame was served cold which was unexpected and not to our liking, so we would try something different next time. Otherwise, it was a wonderful dining experience.
Our server chase (who wasn’t apparently our server but eager to help) was the best part. After doing sake bombs (wouldn’t suggest because they literally give you only a shot of beer) the table needed some sprucing up and chase was there to the rescue. We ordered dumplings, two rolls and sashimi platter. BELOW PAR. If you are looking for good quality sushi look elsewhere. Honestly maybe because we are from New York but this place just wasn’t good. Not recommended unless your into cheap below satisfaction American sushi.
Sushi is mediocre at best. As a Japanese restaurant I cannot believe how limited their menu is.
The chicken Kaze was amazing! Warm sake hit the spot. Very friendly and efficient service. Definitely recommend.
We had a very nice meal and drinks before the symphony. The wings were so good and we really enjoyed the vegetable bun. Their version of lettuce wraps are made with chicken confit. Our meatloaf was not your grandmothers and was delicious. Zula salad was fine. Our drinks were yummy too. Lots of energy in the room and service was spot on.
Miso soups was horrible. It did not taste how regular
Miso soups should taste. It was way over salted. Sushi was avaerage and pork ramen was not good
Great service and food!
Server forgot an appetizer, then disappeared...food is great, table service was not
The food is amazing! Best sushi I've ever had, but the service was really bad. Might be willing to give this place a second try just because of the food.
Service isn’t great. Over-priced. Inside dining room is not as aesthetically pleasing as the back bar lounge or outdoor patio. If I go back, I’d go for a drink, maybe two in those areas. The sushi is just okay and not half price in the dining area.
The food here used to be better, though the atmosphere was relatively spartan. Unfortunately, they managed to somehow flip that since our last visit. The inside was much nicer this visit, but the sushi rolls were falling apart. WHich is too bad, since there are so many more eating options in OTR.
I was very disappointed in the pho, thought the sushi was good. I was also seated next to a window and felt a draft.
Delicious food and good service in a foundational restaurant of OTR!
Dined at Kaze before our Ensemble play. Perfect meal - not too filling and so close to the theater. Food was good - fried rice had plenty of broccoli! Service was lovely and the decor is very nice! We would dine here again.
M daughter spent her 15Th birthdaywith her friends and really had a good time. She loves you guys and always wants to come back.
Thank you for the great service
Outstanding meal, very good service
First time here & very glad to see open on Sundays to try after symphony. Had reservation in main dining area which is better ambiance, however rear bar area offered happy hour menu & TVs for football game which was too appealing to pass up. Ordered menu items based on past reviews. Had pork belly bun - agreed it’s amazing! Should have ordered several more. Also had ramen, chicken lettuce wraps, & hanger steak - also above par. Steak was tasty & flavorful like a pot roast but much more pretty & sophisticated. From front door to back door, the staff was professional, friendly, & exuded experience & attentiveness! Looking forward to going back on a Friday night date night. Next time will try front bar.
Reservations were overbooked. We were seated at 6:55 for a 6:30 reservation. We were not alone. There was at least one other party scrambling to eat to make a theater curtain.
Server tried to make up time with quick order.
Sushi was very average. Soup was good but only warm (not hot). Entree was ok.
I liked the restaurant. We were greeted quickly and courteously and shown to our table andour guests as well. Our waiter was very attentive the only thing was that he wasn't so familiar with some of the items especially the drinks. I think he's not a drinker but one of the bartenders should be able to school him on the drink menu.
Below average. The grilled vegetable entree was definitely lack luster and not worth the price. Mostly rice with what appeared to be frozen vegetables sautéed and dumped on top.
Always a great meal! Service was excellent! Most times when dining at Kaze it is a bit less busy, this Saturday it was packed. As a result, the dinning room was very load. A fun night was still had. We will be back.
The food and drinks were delicious, friendly staff, and an overall great dinner experience.
We came for New Years and purposely made a reservation at 8:45 so that we could relax and ring in the new year with our friends at the restaurant. Kaze closed at their normal hours of 10. This is something you should tell patrons on evenings like this. We were rushed through dinner. Ordered our appetizers and were asked if we were ready to order dinner. We said we would like to wait until after the apps came. And the server let us know the kitchen was closing soon so we needed to get our order in. We done here often, but brought another couple with us that had never been there. It's was a terrible experience for New Years
Wonderful food. The ramen soup is great!
great experience, the only negative thing i could say is that when we got there and told the host we had a reservation, she was a little smug. i have her my name and the party number and she asked “did you make your reservation on open table” i said yes and she then said “well, you didn’t do it correctly but it’s fine” then sat us.
As always..So good. Kris was a great sever.
My best friend and I️ had a great time for a night away from babies!
Service was very good accommodating my two grandchildren. Food was excellent from the soups to the sushi, and even the French fires. Enjoyed the Kaze Mule. Would recommend highly.
The food is pretty good, as is the service. It's just expensive for what you get. The sushi rolls, while more than decent, aren't really better than the 1/2 price sushi places.
The food is not prepared well. The entire roll would fall apart everytime the chopstick would try to pick one bite up. The server brings you water - to pour yourself - and another person drops off the off. What did I tip her for? We did equal amounts of work. Food is overpriced for what it is. Will not be returning.
We used to love Kaze but the menu has become a bit stale & food not as good as it used to be. We will still come for happy hour but not again in main dining room (unless they start offering happy hour drinks menu). Better deals in the bar area.
Solid quality food and experience as usual
Well executed food. We ordered the Miso Wings to share, katsu chicken and a couple of sushi rolls. Service was fast and friendly. The only downside was the noise level. It's a bit hard to hear people across the table. Our waiter never offered a dessert menu, he just brought the check. We had dessert across the street at Graeter's instead.
It was our second visit to the restaurant. The sushi is great and the salads creative. We will return and try something different the next time.
Pretty quiet spot - especially given we were there on a Saturday night and OTR is very busy on weekends. Prefer more of an active environment. Food is good. Prices kinda high but we had wonderful server.
We were excited to try KaZe with Groupon as it’s a nice location close to Music Hall. We were disappointed with the sashimi, sushi rolls and the miso soup. Not sure if the sushi chef quite “graduated” as the sushi rice was not fully cooked (with hard center), the rolls were very loose and fell apart with slight grab of the chopsticks, and the sashimi were sliced without much consideration for the grain of the fish and apparent knife skills. KaZe was kind to remove the sushi from our bill and offered apologies. Both the miso soup and the pho broth were too heavy on soy sauce and very salty. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service was great but the food quality needs to improve to command the price.
