Kaz Sushi Bistro
Real japanese food!
Very good menu and great choice of sakes...
The restaurant was wonderful. Food and service were excellent. We could have a great time.
Kaz remains consistently good year after year, decade after decade. The space is intimate, in fact this was the first time we sat next to folks like we always did in the pre-pandemic times. We started with a fantastic sake based cocktail and enjoyed two of their specials for appetizers, one was an amazing sashimi dish (sorry forgot the fish) and the other a full order of soft shell crab. The crab was lightly coated and fried, but did not feel heavy. After that we moved on to several pieces of nigiri and a roll. Keep in mind that the rolls here are more traditional, smaller, rolls as opposed to the monster rolls seen at many places. The nigiri were well presented and melted in your mouth the way they are supposed to. While sushi is not an inexpensive meal, somehow Kaz has kept its price for quality low. It may not be the new trendy place, it may not be in the same building as the hotel of the former President who's name we shall not speak...but Kaz just keeps creating fantastic dining year after year. Enjoy.
Excellent service and food. Sushi was so fresh.
Great sushi! Truly authentic in taste and preparation!
Wonderful! Would come again. Sushi quality is great!
Good food. Tables are placed very close to each other. So no privacy. Other tables were commenting and interacting with us way too much and I feel it’s because of how close we are. Staff and food was great. White wines were bad.
Anniversary! But nothing was done for it??
Seems like they need more help!!
Great sushi. New favorite spot for great simple sushi
Amazing fish. Practically melts.
Very nice ambiance sr ice and food! Go there for delish sushi!
Was not good. Very disappointing.
Good standard sushi menu. One hot dish, octopus, was rubbery.
We were here a few years ago and had a better experience then. Agedashi tofu has a strange, gelatinous coating, not crispy. Interesting tomato sushi. Japon drink is way too tart to finish. Service is slow, but probably just a pandemic staff shortage issue.
The tables are a little close together, but the food is a great value.
Birthday great food and ser
Delightful atmosphere, quality ingredients at a reasonable price.
Awesome Sushi, could be best in DC
Excellent food with warm and attentive service. A great first foray back to indoor dining.
Overally, not bad. But, considering the price, I am not gonna recommend this place.
Everything was delicious, the fish was incredibly fresh and the flavors were on point. Looking forward to coming back!
I haven't been in years and the suhi was just as I remembered, AMAZING!
Great sushi and small pkates
Great as always.
The food was great and very fresh. The service was very slow.
I can't remember our server's name but she was awesome! Everything she recommended was great.
Great, warm, welcoming
The good and the atmosphere was amazing
Very, very good sushi. Uni was not great though
one of the best Sushi restaurants nationwide. We were frequent visitors before the pandemic and have just started going back.
Delicious food. Friendly service. Very accommodating.
Perfect as always.
Fresh and well presented food. Very friendly service.
We haven't eaten at Kaz since last March due to Covid restrictions and we were very excited to dine there once again since we've been fully vaccinated.
It was so good to be back! The food was delicious and the service delightful. The tables also were socially distanced, diners at every other table so it wasn't too busy, though I'm sure the owners can't wait for all of them to be filled. I think diners will start returning more and more, once they are vaccinated. We definitely will!
Kaz Sushi Bistro was good, not great. My husband and I brought 2 out-of-town guests here for a Saturday evening dinner. This place seemed to top a lot of the lists, so we made the reservation. Upon arriving, we were shocked by how quiet it was. SO quiet. No type of buzz in the atmosphere or background music at all - we felt like everyone could hear everything we said at our table. We were also surprised that they don't offer any signature rolls - just all standard rolls, which were good, but we were imagining something a little bit 'more'. Guess I should have looked more closely at the menu. They also do not have a standard full bar - but the lychee martini and the sake mojito were delicious so would definitely recommend those. Our server was a bit pushy but brought us drink samples once we realized they did not have a full bar. Overall, it was a fine experience, but don't think I'll be bringing guests back due to the lack of ambiance and (in our opinion) limited sushi and bar menus.
I don't mind paying a little extra to eat a full meal for sushi, and Kaz Sushi delivered some of the best quality fish I've ever had. I had their sampler 009, a salmon avocado roll, and an additional order of two nigiri and one sashimi. All were incredibly fresh, there wasn't a smothering of sauces to cover up the sweetness of the fish, and the cuts were resilient -- no stale meat falling apart as you picked up the filet.
The restaurant practiced social distancing quite well, closing half the tables in order to allow groups to sit at least six feet apart. Service wasn't available whenever I finished one plate, but the extra pause did give me time to digest and consider my next portion. Noise can travel in the restaurant, but the quality of the fish and mutes any agitation.
Kaz is potentially my favorite sushi restaurant in the country -- price is not exorbitant and the quality is phenomenal.
Our waiter (Hari H, I believe) was efficient and friendly and helpful. The sake was delicious, Sashimi moriawase tender and fresh - in other words, it was perfection .
Food was delicious with unique takes on classics. Our server made dinner fabulous. His recommendations and suggestions made a good meal better.
If you want omakase, make sure you tell them when you make the reservation. The food was fresh and delicious.
A very nice dining experience even for a required reduced capacity COVID experience in this cozy sized dining room. Restaurant patron separation and staff interaction offered a safe distance and inviting atmosphere. Food was delicious and highlights were the Unadon Bento Box, salmon sushi roll with avocado and side of Brussels sprouts. Highly recommended.
Always exceeds expectations!
