Kaz used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Washington when wenlived here some years ago and we were anxious to try it again when we visited. It was just as good as we remembered. We had a delicious meal of sushi and sashimi and plan to eat there again the night before we fly back to the Netherlands.
The food here is excellent and consistent. A great place.
We visit Kaz for the short ribs and sushi!
Quality and presentation of food was equivalent to being in Japan.
Amazing sushi! Some of the best in the area. Many options for gluten free diners.
The sushi and sashimi were incredibly delicious and fresh. Anybody who says that all raw fish is the same has not been to Kaz Sushi Bistro or other high quality sushi restaurant.
The sushi is always consistently fantastic. Service very good; but this time, of the many I times I have come to Kaz, the background music was loud "Japanese rap' or something and it was not really appropriate to the setting.
Very fresh and delicious. Assistance in sake selection was very appreciated. Loved it.
The food and service was excellent. However, given that they don’t have outdoor seating, and the area is pretty constrained, I would have hoped they would require proof of vaccination.
Excellent meal. The sushi was superb. The sake sampler was fun.
Sushi was outstanding! Service was slow (they were focused on to go orders) and Restaurant was very warm.
Delightful, tasty, and an experience. KAZ is the best sushi spot in DC. I'm looking forward to their sushi bar being open again and Omakasi back on the menu.
Food was excellent the ambulance was wonderful
The best Sushi restaurant in DC. It is actually owned and operated by a Japanese and Korean.
Kaz provided wonderful delicious food and excellent service. Thanks for a wonderful time .
The waitstaff took a while to come take our order and forgot to deliver one of our rolls. Overall the food was okay, but would not go out of our way to dine in here again.
Kaz is located on a nondescript street, the start of a mundane meal. Several seating options not ideal in cramped space, possibly due to Covid. Sake flights were fun. Grilled avocado was delicious. Nigiri was uninspired. Plenty of other choices in DC.
Sitting too close to the next table. Everything else is fine.
As usual, as it has been for the past 20 years, Kaz's place had excellent sushi. It was the first time I had ever had his sushi rolls, and they were superb.
The salmon in gazpacho appetizer was innovative and delicious.
My favorite sushi resto in DC.
Love this restaurant - best kept sushi secret in DC!
Best sushi in town. Great value compared to the other famous places.
Excellent food and service. Everything well explained and very good environment.
Great customer service and there's a variety of sushi here.
Real japanese food!
Very good menu and great choice of sakes...
The restaurant was wonderful. Food and service were excellent. We could have a great time.
Kaz remains consistently good year after year, decade after decade. The space is intimate, in fact this was the first time we sat next to folks like we always did in the pre-pandemic times. We started with a fantastic sake based cocktail and enjoyed two of their specials for appetizers, one was an amazing sashimi dish (sorry forgot the fish) and the other a full order of soft shell crab. The crab was lightly coated and fried, but did not feel heavy. After that we moved on to several pieces of nigiri and a roll. Keep in mind that the rolls here are more traditional, smaller, rolls as opposed to the monster rolls seen at many places. The nigiri were well presented and melted in your mouth the way they are supposed to. While sushi is not an inexpensive meal, somehow Kaz has kept its price for quality low. It may not be the new trendy place, it may not be in the same building as the hotel of the former President who's name we shall not speak...but Kaz just keeps creating fantastic dining year after year. Enjoy.
Excellent service and food. Sushi was so fresh.
Great sushi! Truly authentic in taste and preparation!
Wonderful! Would come again. Sushi quality is great!
Good food. Tables are placed very close to each other. So no privacy. Other tables were commenting and interacting with us way too much and I feel it’s because of how close we are. Staff and food was great. White wines were bad.
Anniversary! But nothing was done for it??
Seems like they need more help!!
Great sushi. New favorite spot for great simple sushi
Amazing fish. Practically melts.
Awesome, awesome sushi place. Would highly recommend. They offer either hand rolls ("temaki") or cut sushi rolls ("maki") for each of the roll items on the menu, and the fish is always fresh and delicious.
Very nice ambiance sr ice and food! Go there for delish sushi!
Was not good. Very disappointing.
Good standard sushi menu. One hot dish, octopus, was rubbery.
We were here a few years ago and had a better experience then. Agedashi tofu has a strange, gelatinous coating, not crispy. Interesting tomato sushi. Japon drink is way too tart to finish. Service is slow, but probably just a pandemic staff shortage issue.
