Just back from Japan we can say that Kaz sushi is authentically Japanese with a plus, lots of help and explanation on sake. Some of the sushi is a bit original (tuna with truffle) but that's your choice
At $100 + for two with sake the bill is the same as Tokyo mid-level too

Although the atmosphere is not exciting or particularly dynamic the food here is excellent , very authentic sushi! We loved everything and ordered more after our first order. The brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes are amazing ! My tempura salmon was delicious and was a perfect balance and to too heavy of the tempura. A very relaxing place.

This is not just a sushi place--it's an innovative fish and seafood based Japanese menu with fascinating combos. Go for the tasting menu, with eight courses including one plate of exotic sushi and dessert. Excellent sake menu too.

Seriously overpriced. I had the impression that the waiter was urging me to order the most expensive sushi dish. I succumbed and regretted it -- added expense was not justified. Also, sushi portions seemed small.

Reservation went smoothly, Rose was our attendant and she was great! No pressure, really helpful, and always there when we needed her. The sushi was fantastic. Had the Chef's choice with included Sashimi with a small dot of non-traditional toppings, such as basil puree and fig. I wasn't sold on the idea at first, but really liked it. Here's hoping for a second date ;)

This is a very popular place, so you may have trouble finding a timely spot. We made reservations but still had to wait. I eat a lot of Japanese food, but this is the first time I've been here. I think the main draw here is the ambience and presentation. Possibly location as well. We had the regular tasting menu. While the food is good, I've had better tastings for less. The sushi that was part of the tasting menu was fine, but nothing unique. I think I should have ordered a la carte since I know what I tend to like. But this place doesn't even serve some dishes that are considered Japanese delicacies, so it feels more like an odd fusion place aimed more for the casual tourist. The sake tasting I had was the right size, but felt like sampler of high end to low end. The server, while friendly, had some difficulty with English but not due to being Japanese.

I don't LOVE sushi, I like sushi but if I crave it, this is the place. It never disappoints. Fresh ingredients and all items made with care and attention to detail. The staff is so professional and friendly. I have been in Japan many times and this place is up there with the best.

The sushi rolls were over priced and under flavored. The portion sizes were not meant for the average person. The portion sizes were small and after eating there my date and I had to go find more food to eat. The variety of rolls was disappointing. The best part of the experience was the server and the fact that the towels in the beginning came out looking like pills on a plate until water was used. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Too much sauce on bento box dinners; smothered the meat's taste. Sauce was also too salty. We advised our waitress, who said she'd let the chef know.

We also felt rushed to leave by the wait staff. It's not a big space.

Great Sushi. Always a wide variety of fish and it is always fresh. They have traditional and some different creations as well. My wife's and my favorite is the Salmon Skin Hand Roll. Good selection of different Sake's not outrageously priced.

Not the most attentive, but that may be by design to not disturb the dining process... There aren't any fancy rolls so be aware this is not the place for specialty maki or house rolls.

Sushi was outstanding, I was not disappointed. Not the most romantic space (Kinda too bright) but good ambience and great service. Since it was not a romantic date we sat at the sushi bar and got to watch the food be prepared. I will certainly be back.

As always we had a great experience. Kaz Sushi is one of only a few places I will eat sushi because I know the quality is sublime. I know that they will always have Otoro available. Mike the manager was kind enough to make sure that we received our 4 orders of Otoro sashimi. The small plates were on point and our other nigiri sushi and rolls were delectable. My friend could not stop gushing how good it was and that it was the best sushi in the area!!! Love Kaz Sushi Bistro!!

This is a trendy casual spot with a lot of energy. The restaurant was full but the server was knowledgeable and efficient. The quality and presentation of the sushi was very good. We also had some delicious starters like the seafood hot pot and various veggies. The grilled octopus was not as crispy as I like it. My most memorable dish was actually the miso caramel ice cream. Just a scoop but so rich and flavorful!

I have been to this restaurant and previously had a great experience. This time we were given sushi that honestly tasted as if it had been made days prior and was ice cold. Sauces that went on top of the sushi were already seeped into the sushi so much you didn't even know it was added. I could have grabbed sushi at the local whole foods for a cheaper price if I wanted pre-made sushi. I won't return after this experience.

My girlfriend and I went to Kaz Sushi Bistro for Valentine's Day dinner. Only the Valentine's Day menu was offered, which was $70 a person. My girlfriend loves sushi and Japanese food, whereas it's not my favorite cuisine. However, I thought the meal was delicious. Service was great, too. As far as the value goes, it was very expensive. My girlfriend and I may come back at a later time for the regular menu.

One of the best two sushi places we've been to. We have been here 6 or 7 times there already. Both the sushi and other items on the menu, including bento boxes (meat, tempura, seaweed etc.) are excellent, every time. Highly recommended. Make sure to have a reservation; the restaurant is frequently packed. Nevertheless the noise level is only moderate on packed nights.

The sushi chefs here really know how to highlight the natural flavor present in good fish. I'm not sure what they do differently but their nigiri and particularly, the truffle salmon nigiri was to die for. It's the best sushi I've had in the area. I never appreciated the upgrade that nigiri offers over rolls until I was exposed to it.

Love Kaz - one of the few great Japanese places in town. Extremely fresh sushi, creative combinations. Some of the sushi bar staff are a bit rote - Kaz is fantastic but it would be great if he got a few more stars behind the bar who are allowed to show their talent as well.

Made reservation for Kai's after the March on Washington with my daughter who is trying vegan. Place was busy, staff focused and guests seemed content. When Alex asked about vegan options the waitress told her and then bought out vegan soy sauce. Service was great, food excellent and I highly recommend. Worth the metro ride!
