Kaz Sushi Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We hadn’t had a great sushi in a while, and Kaz made us realize what we had been missing. We tried a sushi sampler, leaving our adventure to the Chef’s discretion, and loved the flavor explosion that followed. We appreciated the simplistic decor, and soft ambience that made our dinner about the food and each other. And the green tea tiramisu was a great treat!
Kaz Sushi is an excellent sushi place, of course they also have all other sushi-related food available. They have the "classic" sushi, but they also have quite some new dishes with great taste combinations that are not really sushi, even so they are excellent! If you like seafood, try Kaz Sushi.
Really enjoyed all that we ordered, tasting menu 9, hangar steak, Norwegian sea bass were all superb. Service was fine and ambiance was relatively casual. Things get expensive quickly but seem reasonable if you want the best food experience.
We definitely would like to come again and bring our kids too.
It is a very good sushi restaurant, the sake is great, some come with a table warmer, which keeps it warm and the tea comes in a pot. The sushi is top grade and very good. Its a little pricey not much if you have one non-sushi eater in your group.
. Y wife and I and very Very critical on the Highest End cuts of fish. I would give there cuts the Best I Washington DC, in this area we do not have what West Coast has, and specialty islands. For DC, there ULTRA TORO AND FATTY BELLY YELLOW TAIL, is the best in the Washington DC restaurants in the 202 Area code. That is Huge for DC.
I recommend to sit at the sushi bar ( only 6 stools) and order the sushi only omokase- which is where you have a sushi chef preparing his choices of the best sushi for that day. He will keep the food coming until you say stop. The meal is just priced a la Carte. One of the most amazing sushi experiences I have ever had in the US. Incredibly creative yet simple preparations with fresh fresh sushi and a very special rice. The ginger hot tea was a wonderful way of having a sip to cleanse the palate between each serving.
Kaz Sushi Bistro has been my favorite sushi restaurant ever since I first tried it in 2005. It has NEVER failed to disappoint. One of my favorite pieces of sushi on their menu is Hawaiian Walu with Wasabi Leaf. They have a vast selection of sushi choices. Their signature sushi is unique. I have yet to find anything rivaling this in the DC metropolitan area. The service equals the food in excellence. They also have a wonderful sake list. I am not typically a sake drinker, but I got to try the Yuzu Sake - amazing! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
I loved Kaz. A little bit of a stuffy atmosphere, but oh the fish. Melt in your mouth, absolutley tasty fish. Adornments (like jalapeño or spicy sauce) are added lightly, never overpowering the dish. The service is top drawer, and more friendly and casual than the atmosphere might suggest. And I have to say, with all that my friend and I ate (and some Sake, too), the bill was quite reasonable for such good quality. Hit it up.
My wife loves sushi, but I do not like it (or fish in general). But there were more then enough non-fish options to keep me very happy, and she had a memorable meal of sushi and sashimi. The eggplant and hanger steak dishes I ordered were both fantastic.
Our 4-year-old was being a bit restless but our server was very gracious about it. He really enjoyed a cooked salmon entree (and my wife ate a few bites and said it was one of the best salmon dishes she has eaten).
This was my second time eating at Kaz, and both visits were very good dining experiences. Highly recommended!
The restaurant is o.k. but not in any way special. The food is solid and of good quality but creativity is lacking. The portions are very small - after having five different items from the menu (sashimi, sushi rolls, and a special plate) I felt still hungry and went somewhere else. The items, particularly the special plates appear to be rather overpriced, compared to quality and quantity. The server was a bit overbearing and at times disturbing.
Another amazing experience at Kaz. They do an excellent job of making you feel like you have been invited to a close friend's home for an intimate dinner. The service enables a superior dining experience. They expertly match your specific desires to the best items in or off the menu. The food that is created by the chefs is complex, delicious, and made with a relentless focus on presentation. I used to look forward to going to get sushi almost anywhere. Now I usually pass unless we are going here.
