Great sushi & sashimi
Best Sushi in DC. The Sushi is creative, new, different each time I go. Always fresh and tasty.
What an amazing restaurant! The sushi was just incredible, my friend and I shared a few small plates including the Brussel sprouts, sea bass Napoleon and the short rib. All were amazing. Then we shared many of the special sushi varieties. I especially enjoyed the blue crab. Everything was delectable and I would eat here again in a heartbeat.
Amazing server, fantastic experience!
Best in town!
Sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were extremely friendly and fun to watch.
Kaz is consistently excellent in quality and service. We have eaten at Kaz many times, for last 7 years, and have never been disappointed, either at lunch or at dinner. Always superb, BRAVO FOR SUCH A GREAT TEAM!!! 2018-04-11 Calamari was the best ever - succulent - right spice - perfect depth - fabulous finish - elegant presentation - not sure what else to say other than it was fantastic! Thank you everyone at Kaz - the experience was superb as always!
Really nice place, with excellent food quality and attentive servers.
Amazing presentation of food!
Fantastic!
It was nice. Great that one person can have the tasting menu even when the other chooses something else. Anniversary Tasting Menu was fabulous. Also liked that it was 6 courses rather than 8. They should add that as an option more permanently.
Great Sushi, excellent Saki list. Staff is attentive but not overbearing. It is my wife’s and my favorite Sushi place in DC.
Though the food was pretty good, it was a struggle to get it. Lots of waiting involved. I enjoyed a sake flight, but then wanted a carafe to go with my sushi, but waited until I was almost done to get it.
Great potential.
Incredible sushi restaurant. Has nice rolls, nigiris, and other kinds of Japanese cuisine. My wife was amazed with the dessert. Staffs are all gentle. The price was not as expensive as I had expected. I've visited many sushi restaurants around the U.S. and this one comes on top.
The appetizers were all amazing. One of us had the cauliflower which had a delicious sauce. Another had the Brussel sprouts which were cooked perfectly. I had the warm spinach salad which was great as always. We also split the hamachi crudo, but I'm not sure I'd get that again. Small portion and not my favorite sauce.
The rolls were all great. I think the eel with pickled jalapeño was the best. The seared salmon belly nigiri was amazing. I was disappointed by the Uni, which had a weird taste to it (I've tried sea urchin at many places, including this place, before - this was not normal). The waitress kindly removed it from the menu when we told her.
They also have carafes of wine that are a good amount.
Loved our table. Service was excellent. I will definitely continue to go to this place for my sushi fix!
Kaz is a wonderful restaurant with spot on service and fantastic sushi. My family had a delicious assortment of sushi and it was the best. We drive all the way from Richmond, VA to enjoy the food and impeccable service. Thank you!!
Excellent Service!
Amazing sushi ... delicious rice!
Love the green mussels!
Great food and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend the grilled avocado. Sushi rolls are pretty small, but the food is top notch; best sushi in DC. Great for business or romantic dates. The sake tasting is divine.
Kaz is always a great place for friends to catch up over dinner! Fresh delicious sashimi, chawanmushi, agedashi tofu and terrific sake list!
One of the best sushi restaurants in DC. We always have a great time and great service at KAZ.
Kaz Sushi Bistro is now of "go-to" Sushi Spot in DC. We loved the sea bass napoleon and the cabbage pancake. We followed that down with more traditional nigiri and rolls. They had great choices on their Sake list. We will be back!
Friendly service, AMAZING food! Just wish we would've ordered more! Try the Salmon Roll w/pickled pineapple, basil and the black sesame panna cotta!
Lovely service and creative food. I loved it.
Eaten here a few times, but never alone at the sushi bar. Sushi was wonderful, sake was wonderful, service was wonderful...
Neither would go back not recommend to others to dine because of very rude customer services.
This was the most delicious, special omakase sushi tasting. We received exceptional service from Chef Nao. He delivered course after course of the most amazing and creative dishes. He was very professional and personable. We love sushi and Japanese food, and this was our favorite dining experience ever.
Outstanding ingredients, nice ambience.
Fresh sushi and shashimi. Tight schedule so staff accommodated our time constraints. Very friendly and attentive wait staff. Good value. Thumbs up and would definitely go again and recommend to others.
Our favorite sushi place in DC. Very good fish and creative other dishes.
Loved the flexibility of the management when an additional person joined our party. Thank you. Also enjoyed specialities like the live scallop & and the birds nest (ika, uni, quail egg, shiso leaf, seaweed). Great variety of hot and cold items.
This is our regular sushi spot, which we find better than Sushi Taro based on fish quality and sushi dishes. That in no way means that Taro is bad. In fact, it’s excellent as well and aesthetically more pleasing.
We try to get to Kaz' as often as possible and the food never fails to satisfy. Kaz' is not the largest place for sure, but I believe that adds to the ambiance. We love the way Kaz takes very foundational sushi choices and has turned them into taste treats...tuna with truffle, scallops with lemon and salt. The best part is seeing what special fish Kaz has on hand each visit. In almost every place you go, you will find yellowtail...but Kaz had yellowtail belly and it was fantastic. The sake list has expanded since our last visit and that is very welcome. In my opinion, there are very few places I have ever been that compete with the fish that Kaz puts out there. It is creative, artistic and fun. Definitely our DC favorite
While the quality and uniqueness of some of the sushi offerings was very good, the portion size of the fish plus the very high prices make this restaurant a poor value.
The service from the staff was very good, but did not offset the high prices.
Food was good but not outstanding. Service was great . Atmosphere average .
Kaz has been a long-time favorite, and I think one of the true hidden gems of the Washington, DC dining scene. Known for the genius and fabulous creations by Chef Kaz, the sushi hands-down beats other sushi finds in DC. (And I keep looking!) The prices are reasonable, the quality of fish, meat and produce are top notch, and the service is excellent. Recommend sitting at the sushi bar for a fun peek into the "kitchen." Bravo, Kaz!
Cool place, excellent service and creative menu. Choose what you want or opt for one of the tastings. Sushi delicious. Sake shooter with uni and quail egg a must try
Pleasant restaurant, good service but poor value. Have had much better sushi for half of the price
Excellent on all counts
Wonderful sushi and service.
What a beautiful meal. Take your time. Savor each and every morsel. The walu, smoked monkfish liver pate, salmon belly small plate were favorites.
