Kaz Sushi Bistro
Highly recommend! Kaz is improbably a favorite for both my sushi-loving husband and my fish-averse self. They do a fabulous job on sushi, offering both classic and unusual options. And the other dishes are amazing as well - with great service.
As always this place always delivers. The best sushi restaurant in DC, hands down.
Food quality seems to have deteriorated from the last time I was there. Hope it improves.
We have been going to Kaz for over ten years and it keeps getting better somehow. This was our best sushi meal ever.
Best sushi experience in DC, hands down. Been going here for 17 years
Outstanding...a must when in the DC area!
We had a wonderful Saturday night dinner. Kaz was most helpful in helping us select our Saki and dinner items. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. We will be back! Thank you Kaz!
We have come to Kaz for about six years for reliably excellent sushi, great service, and a creative menu. The sushi is as good as it gets; other spots in DC are as good but none reliably better and Kaz always has something seasonal and fresh from Japan, Hawaii, etc. Highly recommend Kaz.
It is always an excellent experience having dinner at Kaz!
Kaz serves the freshest and best sushi in dc and locals know it!
Great food and service. We especially liked the miso salmon collar special!
First time. Had the Omakase at the bar. Excellent personal service from the chef. Well worth the trip. Will return, though probably for a less expensive entree at a table.
Usually I give Kaz's 5 stars. All the speciality dishes--foi gras, Italian truffle, trout napoleon, etc.--were outstanding as always. However, the umi shisho roll and the tuna roll were off. Also the chocolate dessert, while good, was too fruity and rich--it was too much for two people.
We had exceptional experience. This was the best sushi we have ever had. Exceptional taste of salads. pieces of fish we’re melting in mouth. The price may be a bit higher than other places, but it’s worth it. You taste and feel the quality what you are paying for. Definitely to go place. I am afraid I may not be able to eat sushi at other restaurant.
good Japanese cuisine
The service was wonderful and the sushi was exceptional. I am very picky about sushi and I am happy to be critical of need be. I count on honest reviews to guide me therefore I give honest reviews. This is a must. I will be going back as often as possible.
My starter was a green salad which had a soy vinegar dressing. I had a mixture of sushi and sashimi that included some of the daily specials. Although I cannot recall all of the types of fish that were included, I can say that it tasted wonderful and was just the right amount of food. The plum wine that I had to accompany my meal seemed like it was home made rather than processed and tasted very good.
Cost was so expensive but tast was usually and not so high quality.
Great they did an amazing job food was outstanding
Amazing dinner! High quality food, real and gourmet Japanese food!
Food was delicious! Fish was fresh.
Wonderful sushi and incredible, personal service! Would come here regularly if we lived in the DC area.
Terrific sake recommendations to pair with the omakase meal.
Kaz Sushi did not disappoint! The food was fresh and the service was fantastic, we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday and everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance.
Most excellent sushi. I had the sushi omakase. Very good quality sushi. Note that it will keep coming until you say you've had enough. This was different from what I was used to. It's great, just beware that the bill will keep going up until you say stop. It is so good, it is hard to say stop. Given the opportunity, I will certainly return.
This was the highlight of our trip!! By far the best sushi we've had in many years. Portions we amazing, quality was excellent, and the service was A++++. Must stop for sushi lovers... This isn't your typical American sushi place with oversized rolls with lesser quality fish. We will be back!
We had the sashimi and sushi to share
the white fish and scallops was not the freshest I have tasted. Scallops was fish not sweet and nutty.
The rest was pretty nice but still expensive for what the value is.
Incredible dishes! I especially loved the Bird's Nest (uni, calamari strips, quail egg) and incredibly fresh and diverse list of sashimi (flounder, Icelandic char, etc.) If you want bang for your buck, get a bento box. I'm a bit of an adventurous eater, so I didn't choose this option and didn't leave with a full stomach (my friends did and they were satisfied). Save room for dessert. Green tea tiramisu was fantastic.
My wife and are very big on high quality sushi, Kaz definitely showed up in this area, as well as the Service and ambience. Noise level was perfect.
Excellent sushi! We ate here twice in one week while visiting DC for the WIHS! Service was excellent both times. Everyone friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. Waiters give great recommendations-& they were different but all great!
Kaz is always a lovely and delicious experience. Menu changes with seasons and there are always favorites that remain.
Fresh and exquisite, every time. A true gem. Rivals the best in Japan and also offers local fish and flavors if that suits.
Katz is always outstanding. The fish is always fresh, the Sushi , Sashimi & cooked appetizers & entres are authentic & the service is always great. I love the new menu which has many new additions including a large choice tasting menu & lots of new dishes. Love love this Sushi Restaurant.
The best sushi restaurant in Washington. (And I’ve been to them all.)
Everything was outstanding, from the food to the decor to the service! The veggie sushi is great -- especially the roasted tomato nigiri which is delicious and quite clever because it looks like tuna. I would love to see even more veggie sushi options (for example, roasted sweet potato or avocado with honey roasted peanuts). The desserts are complex and nicely balanced; our favorites are the run raisin molten chocolate cake and the green tea tiramisu. The white breeze is a nice mocktail.
Wonderful, fresh Sushi but the service could have been quicker and more attentive.
Food is reliably delicious, creative, well prepared; having dined here occasionally for 15 years. The ambiance is respectful, comfortable and sophisticated without being stuffy. Our server and host were very considerate when we notified them that cold air was blowing on our table, offering to relocate us but instead were willing to adjust the air vent direction which solved the problem.
The food and service were excellent!! A must try is the roasted brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes (delicious). This is my new go to sushi spot in DC!!
Was a nice place and the service was good but I have had better sushi at other places in DC
Kaz never fails. If you want delicious, creative, and skillfully made sushi, served in a classy but not too pretentious environment, look no further. We go here all the time, and we are never disappointed! Highly recommended.
