In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

Came for a special birthday meal for husband. He had the red snapper & shrimp platter( it is mostly all fried & also had onion rings, hush puppies etc. Am so mad at myself for just not requesting another platter.( I never do that) I notified immediately that it was way too over fried. He tried the onion rings… so tough he laid them aside. He tried both the fish & shrimp but it was so hard & crunchy that he said it had no flavor. They should not have brought it out like that… should have made another platter. With drinks & having to pay parking to park in their lot it made a fairly expensive dinner. So disappointed as I had eaten there 2 times before & gave it 5 stars…

Kudos to our server, E.J. for excellent service! We had the fish tacos and wedge salad. We were very pleased with both of our selections! We particularly enjoyed sitting outside on the porch.

Was very frustrated that because of some event near the restaurant, I had to pay $12 to park just to get to the restaurant. The server was great. Food was very good. Other than the frustration of parking, it was overall.... great.

Katie’s oysters with crab had shells in it. Server tried to convince me that that never happened and refired them. The next portion had a half an inch piece of shell in it in the first oyster I tried.. Chef special fish and clam chowder were good though.

We ate outside, great view and atmosphere. Our waitress was very pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The tuna tower appetizer was wonderful. The seafood was fresh, excellent and cooked to perfection. Dessert was to die for! Would definitely recommend this this restaurant if you are in Galveston!

Market and restaurant were great! Outdoor seating was sunny and a bit hot, but that's to be expected. Carissa was fabulous! Knowledgeable, helpful, prompt and pleasant! She gave great recommendations! Definitely get the fresh catch and shrimp!

Just love this restaurant! It has become my favorite in Galveston. 2nd time there and each time we had a male waiter and each of them have been awesome! Very attentive, fun, and great service. The Caribbean style fish is my favorite. Keep up the good work

Food sat in window for 20 minutes. Came to table cold. Plate was hot. Mac and cheese hard and congealed. Husbands order was wrong. Manager compensation was for 1/2 a dinner. Waiter was busy and meant well said there was a big table in front of us.

Seafood outstanding. Manager Gino was outstanding. He helped with our parking code issues and allowed us to be seated earlier than our reservation. This was our first visit - from the Manager Gino and all the staff- all were very nice and helpful. Every item we ordered was delicious. We will be back to eat many more times due to Gino's and the Staff at Katie's Seafood in Galveston.

Food was average for seafood and noise was so bad we could not visit from one end of the table to the other. We were a table of 6 and this was not our first time to Katie's. We will most likely go again for lots of friends say it is a great place, they hear. Not for me in the future!

The food is super fresh and delicious, the beer cold, and the cocktails lovely. Our server, on the other hand, was either high or super sleepy. She forgot to put in some of our drink and food orders and we had to keep reminding her. This isn’t the norm at Katie’s, so we were surprised. DO make sure to call & get the code for free parking.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It was just disappointing that they had run out of the catch of the day, especially considering that we had a 6:30 reservation. The tile I ordered was excellent. The chopped oysters appetizer was very tasty, but be careful when eating them, as there are a lot of stray shell pieces in the stuffing. My husband almost cracked a filling that he just had repaired. It is a beautiful spot and the service was very good.

We had a great dinner here at Katie’s and Harley was a great server. We sat on the outside patio which I’m glad we did because the dining room was very loud. Will definitely eat here again.

Food was not as good as in the past. Seafood nachos had only a little shrimps. Very little fish. Too much cheese. Seafood chowder was runny and not as buttery as normal. We will not be back.

Fabulous food and service. We sat outside so the noise level was down. Inside the noise level was really high. The harbor views of the boats and channel were great. Watching the pelicans and other birds was entertaining. Nice day with a warm breeze. We thought the prices were a little high, but maybe that’s the norm in this touristy area so close to the Galveston Strand area. The restaurant is pretty plain as compared to Willy G’s restaurant next door. We were there for the food, though, not the decor, and we were not disappointed. Great place to treat yourself to specially prepared fresh fish.
