Excellent food and the wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable in regards to the food. Very cool atmosphere too!
Another visit which was a combination of hospital colleagues and family! Food as always perfectly done. I stayed on script with The. North Carolina Trout. Another delicious fresh tasting experience. My wife had the scallops crude raw bar and vegetable medley Cote for the first time. Two great tasting and well sized portions for smaller appetites. The Scallops have a sooothing citrus taste and melt in the mouth. Another great night at our home away from home.
We had a wonderful date night for my wife and I. They have replaced the awful booth's and they not only look good but are comfortable ! Our server Kate did a fine job was attentive and did not rush us. The wine list was a little on pricey side so we chose a bottle of house Chard. that was good but still pricey at $11.00 per glass or $40.00 per bottle. We had the special and it was excellent. All in all we would go back. It has free valet parking with a two hour Maximum. Just right ! We will go back, nice people all over the place.
Food and service were great! Very cool atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
This was by far the best dining experience we have had since we relocated to Winston Salem. The food was excellent the staff was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much. We will definitely be back soon.
Sound proofing is great improvement. Food quality improved. Service was friendly, but inattentive.
Another fantastic night! This time Mom joined two of the boys and me. Seated against the back kitchen booth (our request through Open Table). Kate, the server was wonderful and unobtrusive but ever ready. The boys has flat iron steaks and fries and ate them to completion. This after a course starting with Oysters and a cheese plate. I had the special Mussels Indochine. I miss the Basque mussels but this may be a new favorite. Layered with vermicelli in a curry broth. Amazing idea and product. Anna had the beet salad. Run and don't walk to this great Winston restaurant. By the way the Rose is delightful to start the palate with...
Great service fantastic atmosphere. Had the mussels, pate, flat iron steak. all delicious
Another great experience at this family’s favorite restaurant. Wife and sons 2 and 3 out of town. Dad there with 1 and 4 at their request. Number 4, our 9 year old conducts the menu choices. We started with a dozen oysters all delicious and fresh accompanied by the Mac and cheese. We moved to a leisurely exploration of the Regional Cheese Plate. This is a high value dish that provides great taste experiences and is beautifully presented. For entrees, Number one had the Salmon and Number 4 and I split the Friday night special bouillabaisse. Leek and potato and carrot and mussels along with flounder. In a tomato based sauce. Both dishes absolutely magnificent. And of course frites normal with Mayonnaise.
Once again a bistro experience that values the family and food experience equally.
Finally thanks to our servers Kate and Raymond for a relaxing attentive dinner experience.
Kids at camp late date with the wife
Friends traveling from different areas of country, meeting in Winston-Salem. Excellent experience from walking in door to leaving. Friendly team, fantastic food.
We loved the food and the atmosphere. The staff was very attentive. We will definitely be back.
The food was not as good as I had hoped, but still good. Their fried Brussels sprouts are divine and they make a good cocktail. Pretty loud environment with a fairly aggressive choice in music, in my opinion. The waiter was not great - we seemed like an afterthought to him until the check was delivered. Service just seemed a bit haphazard for the price point of the restaurant. It would be a fun place to dine at the bar with friends, but I wouldn't go there for dinner again otherwise.
Wonderful menu. We attempted to try a lot of items as this was our first time there. Food was amazing. Service was a little slow to start, but the time the first dish came, it picked up to standard speed. Overall, I will be back.
Our waiter was amazing. The food was impeccable. I can’t say enough good things about this place. If you’re thinking of going....just go.
Great setting in the classic Reynolds building. Valet parking. Quiet and very clean. The staff was great and very helpful with the wine selection. It was my daughter’s birthday and were offered complimentary champagne. Food was great. The appetizers very good. Reasonable prices and exceptional service. Will definitely return.
Service was excellent! More than 5 stars. Francis was our main server and another gentle was sure to keep our waters topped off and our table clean. New silverware when needed. Extremely polite and so attentive.
Anniversary dinner was excellent
My husband and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary here and we were not disappointed! The food was incredible as well as the handcrafted cocktails! Everyone who waited on us, from the hostess to the waitress who gave us our check, were so kind and attentive! The ambiance and aesthetic is stunning, it feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Also for how many people were there it was quiet, which is lovely for conversation.
We will definitely return!
Second night I ate at the bar, where you can receive efficient service. The seafood plat de jour was good
Excellent service. Food was very good. Upscale dining.
Mussels were fabulous
Our server Catherine was excellent
Thought that it was being in a Kimpton would mean a high level of quality and great food, we were sadly mistaken. Will think twice when going to another Kimpton restaurant.
Yet another perfect night at The Katherine. First off, great job on improving the noise level. This time accompanied by two of our four boys, our 25 year old and 9 year old. Francis, the server was spectacular (as always) in his attentiveness and knowledge of the menu and cocktails. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, split evenly between Blue Point, Virginia, Washington and a Cape Cod variety that was new to us called Big Red. So fresh and briny with a perfectly spicy mignonette to drizzle over them. Next, the cheese plate with crostini. Four nice triangles of cheese, hard to soft, tangy to mellow. For dinner the youngest had his standby, mussels in a lemon based white broth accompanied by frites normal with a side of mayonnaise. And he isn't even from Northern France : ). The oldest had a the burger with frites with truffle aioli. I had the Rainbow trout for the first time. Amazingly done with a butter sauce and olives. Fish so soft it seemed to be a taste melting in the mouth. The youngest ended the night with the Fruit accompanied Flan whiled Number one and I enjoyed a glass apiece of Port. Kudos again to the kitchen staff, always fun to see them working in unison! See you again very soon.
Dinner was good and so was the service. Love the ambiance but was sad that they have eliminated some of the best drinks off the menu!
We were seated w/out menus and then we had to ask for someone to wait on us after 10-15 minutes. The server never came back to check on us after the meal was served and it took us flagging her down to let her know that one of the ingredients was missing from my wife's dish. The server brought the wrong check and then came back to the table with the correct check.
Unfortunately we have had other such experiences there and although we were hoping they would have improved the quality of the staff it appears that it is not going to happen. We will not be returning. Not a pleasant experience for a Mother's Day celebration.
We enjoyed our Mother's Day brunch - it was lovely. The food was great, the service was very good. We will return!
We were pretty disappointed with our Mother’s Day Brunch experience at The Katharine. Our waiter gave us no information about what was available at the buffet, and in fact barely acknowledged our presence. We were served our mimosas without being told that a Bellini Bar was available...but it didn’t end up making much of a difference, because I didn’t see anyone serving at the bar any time I passed by it. The coffee we ordered never came to the table. The omelets were good, as were many of the dishes at the regular buffet: bacon, link sausage, and potatoes. But the lamb from the carving station was overdone, dry...and that was when we were finally able to find someone to carve it. The pastries were pretty pedestrian. Better meals and experiences are available in this town for less than half the price.
We went for the mother's day brunch, it was setup as a buffet and some places just shouldn't do buffets. We have had breakfast here many times but this was subpar. It was also misrepresented that the "Bellini" bar was 11 dollars all you can drink. It was told to us until after several people of our party had made multiple trips that it was 11 dollars each trip. We have enjoyed the Katherine in the past. But this was a miss.
Excellent as usually. They have the standard southern menu, but better prepared than most places around town. Historic accents and artful decor. I can eat in a hole in the wall, as long as the food is good... this is not a hole in the wall.
Great food. Great service. Great value. The environment is quite stunning. While parking is not necessarily "free", it is located near the restaurant.
The food was outstanding except the pork chop was over cooked.
This was our anniversary dinner on a Wednesday evening. Sat in a cozy booth. All our expectations were met. Food was delicious. Service was first class. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
What a lovely evening with friends. Top quality ingredients. Great atmosphere, service was okay. Some of the dishes where overly seasoned with salt.
My parents and I were really disappointed in our Sunday brunch experience here. It’s clear they just expect people to go for the buffet and I think we caught them off guard asking to order off the menu. My parents each got the chicken and waffles and I got the Cobb salad. I really wish I had taken a picture. The fried chicken came out looking burnt and soggy at the same time (seems impossible but true). The waiter seemed unfazed. My Cobb salad looked pitiful (think grocery bag salad) and had 5 small torn pieces of chicken on top. When asked how we were enjoying the meal, we expressed or disappointment and were met with disinterest and apathy.
Very disappointed We went for brunch and the buffet looked terrible so we ordered from the menu My sister ordered Eggs Benedict and the english muffin was soggy and without hollandaise sauce Hamburger was literally raw in the center I sent back the French fries because they were soggy The waiter took them off my plate and when they came back were too hard to eat Live music was great
Great drinks, great meals, stellar company.
Excellent food and environment....hotel lobby was very impressive.
