We love it here! We came twice in one week it was so good. They have a live DJ on the weekends and it has a fun and energetic vibe. Definitely would recommend the spicy tuna on crispy rice!
Excellent food, excellent service. Would definitely visit again.
Always outstanding service, and love their food.
Our go-to items here are the Katana roll, any nigiri, especially salmon, spicy tuna on crispy rice, marinated cucumbers, chicken hearts and American wagyu skewers, and mochi for dessert. The food is always high quality.
It’s honestly one of our favorite places in the city. Although the decor is very impressive, the atmosphere is pretty laid back, so we always feel comfortable there whether we’re just dropping in last minute for a casual dinner or celebrating someone’s birthday. They often have a DJ, so the music is awesome.
We went for my aunt’s special birthday. We enjoyed everything we had, sushi, sashimi, sides and skewers. A favorite for all of us was the shrimp and bacon skewer. The sushi and sashimi was very fresh. My aunt was comped a great desert that was decorated with chocolate wishes and topped off by a candle that was like a huge sparkler. The whole experience was great.
I came here on 1-17-19 around 9pm for a date and the service/food was amazing. I forgot my waiter’s name but his manners and dedication to excellent service were impeccable. His recommendations (green beans in oyster sauce) were spot on and delicious. My experience was stupendous and I will be back
We had a great meal and the staff was outstanding.
Tasty food, great service (we were under a crunch to make a theater performance and they worked to make that happen), and what an amazing decor. Price seems high for what you get food-wise. I would recommend it to my friends for sure.
All the food is great, nice atmosphere, very good service, valet parking available, good selection, great cocktail list
New year 2018-19
Food was really nice!
The food was good. The service was possibly the worst I’ve ever had in Chicago. Couldn’t tell you where our server was half the time. In a two hour meal she came to the table maybe 3 times and walked away before we were able to tell her our whole order. I would give service a 1 if it wasn’t for the manager that took the entire second half of our order. He was great!
Katana was a great experience, our server took very good care of us and we enjoyed a handful of items from each kitchen menu all of which were delicious. Will definitely recommend to friends and be back with family!
We have walked by Katana several times even though it is off the street tucked back by the entrance to the House of Blues. Finally made a reservation and so glad we did. First the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive during dinner. The Sushi was some of the best we have had in a long time. The menu listed the country of origin of the fish, nice touch. We ordered several different items during our dinner and each item was a great experience.
Katana is worth the effort to find.
Thanks to Loren (our server) and Mark (the manager) for creating a wonderful experience.
This restaurant is exactly what you are looking for if you love having a private space with your date, but also love some good music in the background to have some fun while eating.
I asked for a private table and we had our own booth, for two, in the middles and it was perfect.
The DJ was playing 90's Hip Hop the entire time and I was in heaven. This is the restaurant I always wanted and happened to stumble upon. If you are fun people that want a little more added to your dinner please do not wait and come here.
Amazing service from management to waitress to busboys.
I will definitely be back again and again.
Great food and service. Highly recommend.
We love Katana, the food was outstanding and the service impeccable... definitely a go to when in Chicago.
I was there for the second time in this week/vacations but the waitress are rush we all the time to order and to go out like the other people who works on the place taking our dishes out when we’re eating only to clean and go out I guess, and we had made the reservation for 21:15, not at time to close! I didn’t back anymore...
Mark was a charming, personable and gracious host. Service from our waitress and busboy were attentive and appropriate. We were there for lunch and have a reservation to return for dinner .
The food quality is good, but too expensive.
Mark the manager really made the night wonderful for us! We will be back for sure!
First time at Katana and would definitely return. The food was excellent and service was great too. It was a bit on the expensive side, but not unexpected due to the location and quality.
Cheyenne at the door holds it down. Food was pretty good too.
Fantastic service, relaxing atmosphere, the house sushi roll is out of this world! We will make this our go to
spot every time we visit Chicago!! Please stay in business!!!!

Good, drinks and staff were amazing! Looking forward to going back and trying more.
Decent sushi but quiet and expensive compared to other restaurants
We went to Katana for my cousins birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion. We were treated to an app and birthday dessert on the house, and the various employees swung by our table to share happy birthday wishes. The food was great. Great wine selection.
Best birthday lunch one can ask for with excellent and creative food and service.
Delicious sushi with very fresh fish. Definitely on the high end in terms of price. Drinks were very tasty. We were there on a Monday evening and it was pretty empty. We'll definitely be back.
Came for a 60th Birthday with a 9:15 reservation for 5. We were seated in a round booth which was perfect for the group. We got Duffy as our server and she was fabulous! I would mark service as 1 Star but bumped it because of Duffy. She made excellent recommendations, fully explained menu and the 3 kitchens and her check ins with us were timely. Unfortunately, service was extremely slow (took 30 mins for a cup of coffee at the end of dinner), majority of the party but 1 person received their dinner around the same time, by the time they were almost done I was told there is no more ribeye (what I ordered) so I had no dish until everyone was done with theirs. Mark (manager) came out to apologize and let us know he removed a couple dishes from the bill and also let us know that he removed the birthday dessert (which we were told was comped - but..Mark made it seem like it took it off the bill as a favor). Due to all this we will most likely not return but I will state the food was all great and Duffy was fantastic. They’ve got to work on that timely service.
Very expensive. Small plates. Not very good food. Inattentive service. $16 sake was 4 sips. Food bland.
Just don't go. My party fully present checked in with the hostess 3 times before they sat us. We didn't see our waiter for 30 minutes after sitting down. We ordered all of our food and drinks from the manager that we kept flagging down, not sure if our waiter took any orders. My girlfriend ordered the Fuji Pear and got a different drink each time. The kicker to this was that she has a bunch of allergies (tree nuts/avocado/fish) so we had asked our waiter to let us know if there are tree nuts in anything that is not listed on the menu. They brought out a lychee drink as the Fuji Pear, (lychee is a tree nut). Thankfully she recognized that was not her drink. We were told these drinks would not be on our bill, but sure enough they were! ...Food was great.
Ate there SAT 12/8. When we arrived...we were the only people there. I asked for a different table and met some resistance. I asked to speak to the manager...the guy really stepped up and took care of us. Is it the best Sushi Ive ever had? No. Did the experience warrant the premium price? Yes. I'd definitely recommend and go again. I will say I was little put off w/ the Robata grill flavor...don't know what type of wood or fuel they were using, but the grilled items had an almost cigarette smoke taste to them...no bueno. I'll skip the Robata next time. Other than that....all good!
We had raw shrimp served to us by accident. My husband ate it not knowing. I told the GM about it and he the only thing he said was to call him if he got sick. He handled it very poorly. You could tell he didn't really care about his customers, just shoot making a buck.
Would like to see more sushi rolls
We were there to celebrate my partner purchasing a new home and to be romantic. The restaurant was the perfect place to do both. The Katana Old Fashioneds were fabulous and the sushi was excellent. Our server was just the right amount of attentive for a date night. Thanks!
Meriel was amazing, so warm and kind! She made our experience at Katana really special !
Great service! Food was excellent. Definitely going back.
Overall very good. Service a little confused at times. Some dishes better than others. A little below Roka. Would go again
Too loud to talk. Very revealing clothing by staff makes it seem awkward for family get-togethers. But that wasn’t by all staff...
Katana is great! The ambiance and restaurant vibe is fantastic. The restaurant provides a very versatile appeal, whether you are grabbing drinks and bite with friends, going out on a date, or having a group dinner. The entire staff was extremely friendly and really added to the overall experience. Our server Eddy was great, very knowledge about the menu and offered some great options for both food & drinks (we loved!!). I recommend getting a few items and sharing them, as there are a TON of good options ( Ishi Ebi No Tempura, ribeye skewers, brussel spout skewers, spicy tuna roll were all excellent!!). Can't wait to go back.
