Kasai - Teppanyaki
Food was good, prices are as expected for the area. We had 6:15 pm dinner reservations and were the only older couple seated with a group of young birthday celebrants. We dine at lunch in a nice place in Michigan Called Sagano and pay around $15.00 for the table side cooking and the cooks are a bit more animated and the food more plentiful. The ad for Kasai states it is “dinner and a show” so we were expecting a bit more entertainment other than the traditional onion volcano and egg flipping tricks. Ah well, I guess entertaining with food is limited at best. I was attracted to the torches outside when driving by a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant itself is lovely.
The meal at the Teppanyaki table was excellent. it is always entertaining and fun with the meal being prepared in from of you. The portions are very generous and the service was also excellent.
Fantastic restaurant, with great food and service. We have always enjoyed our dinner here, and our grandchildren love this restaurant. Thanks.
we love coming here now because food, service ad attitude is so much better. w used to go to benihana quite often, spent a lot of money, and we had a couple bad experinces and even corporate would not help us at all. you establishment way far exceeds theirs.
Long wait for table even though we had a reservation. then once seated really really long wait for a beer let alone order food. Then even longer wait to get soup salad. Over two hours later we begged for the bill. Not kadais best night. Wasn’t that crowded so no excuse for the long waits.
Was always great as Sopporo. Continues to be great as Kasai. We had a great time meeting friends during Spring Training. Service and food are always on point.
We have been here before but it was back when it was under a different name. Went to dinner last minute for my daughters birthday. My husband wanted to take the kids to see how they would like Teppanyaki as it's a very good entertainment. The kids loved it and had so much fun. Our chef was amazing and we loved all of the tricks and entertainment he did for us. The food was amazing and everyone loved everything. So happy they had basic kids meals that some on my picky eaters could eat and then the normal food for adults to eat. We pretty much shared everything and the shrimp appetizer was AMAZING! We will definitely be back.
We loved everything about our experience! The chef was hilarious with an infection cackle. =) Seabass and Filet Mignon combo was amazing! thank you!!
I didn’t realize Kasai-Teppanyaki was the old Sapporo restaurant which is a upscale nice place. Our party of four was seated in back of room, but the level of background noise was still high. Not conducive to carrying on a conversation with fellow diners.
The food was OK, but not over the top. We ordered from both the Teppanyaki side of the menu and other dishes. The menu was a little confusing in that you had options to order as if you were sitting at the Teppanyaki table, but it was not clear what you were ordering.
The price of cocktails seemed high for what your getting, but the service was good. Don’t think I will be returning soon.
Super slow service but tried to make it up by buying a round of drinks but a 2.5 hour dinner is just not fun ....
Great experience. ONLY complaint is that there is no room to eat! Between being jammed into the table space, there was no room to eat over the drinking glasses and other dishes left in front of us. They need to do a better job of keeping the table cleaned off and clear
The food and service were great.
We had a reservation at 7pm and were seated at 7:20pm and did not finish until 9:15pm (late reservation but very late for a family). Food was amazing and one meal started arriving the staff were very attentive.
I have been to many other Teppanyaki restaurants and the food here is exceptional. Very high quality ingredients and our Chef was great! Can be a bit noisy in the main dining area though, so probably not the best choice for a quite intimate dinner. We were in a side room near the front, as we had a group of 7, so the noise was not too loud.
We had an amazing time celebrating a teen bday!!! Thanks to Jason the manager for accommodating our crew
The food and service at this restaurant were good but the noise from other customers was so overwhelming that I'm afraid we would not go back. Maybe it's best for a very young crowd who wouldn't mind the noise.
I was excited to come here again because you guys provided happy hour at the hibachi tables. I made a reservation, thinking that I would be able to enjoy the happy hour, but I get there and you don’t have happy hour there anymore. I think that is ridiculous and it’s not worth the price.
We had a great time celebrating my father in laws 90th birthday. They took good care of us and we were a party of 8. Food was excellent.
Always a great time to meet new friends and enjoy your group!
The service was non-existence.. we had a bday party and there was no one taking our used plates.. chef kept piling the dood he cooked in front of us but we had no where to put anything. Needless to say a side of teriyaki sauce spilt all iver my two kids and no one was there to help!! Disaster.. i was cleaning everything .. even the floor!
Too expensive fir me to b the maid!
Always entertaining. Service staff is well versed in special dietary needs (gluten-free, etc)
Amazing food and service! The chef also had a great sense of humor, made it a very pleasant experience !
Get food and service. The mango frozen martini is Awesome.
Long wait for service and food way over seasoned
Our family went and came home and got very ill. This wasn’t the first time, we have gone before and come home experiencing stomach issues- thinking it was a fluke we went again. Everyone in our party that had steak was incredibly sick.
If you go enjoy the salmon and Chicken those didn’t have any effect on our guests, but the steak is something you need to stay away from...
After spending $275 on dinner for 6, it was not as happy of a birthday as it should have been.
We had a great time at Kasai! We celebrated our granddaughter's 21st birthday with her friend. The food was outstanding and the chef was a lot of fun. Service was also excellent. We would definitely recommend the Teppanyaki for any celebration.
We did the Teppanyaki table, a party of 10, with one person having a dairy allergy. As all the food on the grill is cooked with butter, the waiter arranged for her to have the same meal only prepared dairy-free in the back kitchen. Excellent service! She was extremely pleased with her dinner as were all of us with our food! Perfectly prepared chicken, tofu, steaks, scallops, shrimp and salmon! Our chef, Jaime, is the best...so energetic and entertaining!
Our server and our chef were amazing! Our party of 9 never felt forgotten and they both provided excellent service and great food! A great night to celebrate my husbands birthday!
This was our first time eating here and I must say the food was good and the atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed the overall experience.
Had a great dinner to celebrate an anniversary! Cody was a great waiter, all staff was very accomodating. Teppanyaki experience was fun and entertaining. 10/10 recommend.
This was the first time we've been to Kasai since the name change from Sapporo. We had been to Sapporo a couple times and always had a great experience. Kasai was just as good, even better than we remembered.
Food was cooked absolutely perfect. Drinks were awesome. Service great!
A couple people in our party ordered the hibachi seabass and lobster and I snagged a bite of the seabass and it was amazing.
I ordered hibachi filet mignon (medium) and shrimp and it was absolutely perfect.
We will definitely be back!
Amazing! 2 year old loved it!
Great as usual only downside was they ran out of seabass but made up for it with other items! Will be back again!
We will Never ever come back to this restaurant. It has always been our favorite for special occasions. We came in on Friday to celebrate my father in laws birthday with 12 people. We had a reservation. After being there for an hour and half and spending over $1,100 we were asked to leave because they “needed the table for another party.” I am in the industry and an hour and a half for 12 people to have apps entrees and birthday desserts with beverages is just crazy. The manager was awfully rude and not accommodating to us at all. The server and chef were amazing and took such Great care of us. We will be calling to complain as well.
Great food and great experience! The butter cake that they gave me for my bday dessert was phenomenal!!!
We had a great time celebrating a birthday at one of Kasai's tepanyaki tables recently. The wait staff was solicitous, the chef was fun and highly skilled, and the food was amazing, with big portions. My only complaint was the level of noise overall - blasting music and a lot of people, though this also added to the fun atmosphere.
The food and service is always top-notch at Kasai. And the fun of watching the preparation of the meal is just an added bonus.
This used to be our favorite place. They’ve taken away happy hour, the service was mediocre, our meat was over done despite confirming our preference three times. In addition, we had three dirty plates and had to send back silverware twice for Being dirty with old rice stuck in the forks. I am not sure what’s happening at Kasai but I hope they fix it.
Wildly entertaining and engaged chefs. Large portions and flexible choices. Great service and wonderful experience to share with first timers.
