Great meal tonight and the service from Hector could not have been better. As a vegan, this is definitely one of my go-to restaurants in the area.
Started off with great staff - she took the time to explain everything and make recommendations on what our table of 6 should order. From the Dates (highly recommend), to the Salad, to the veggies, to the meats, everything was great and Kapnos took the liberty to take some standard dishes and jazz them up to make them even better.
Would recommend to others in town. One of the best comments was when my 92 yr father in law said this was great and ate everything on his plate (one of his first times to eat at a Greek restaurant).
Menu was not original and meat was charred and dry.
Very accommodating and friendly service. We ordered something from every section of the menu loved every bite. The roasted cauliflower and roasted red snapper are must-haves!
Fabulous place beginning to end. The seating with our 7:15 reservation was immediate. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. A fantastic, authentic Greek experi nce!!
We have very rarely been disappointed with Open Table recommendations so that Kapnos appeared to be the best choice in the Gala Hispanic Theater area. The quality of the food was very good, and the decor was modern and clean. The wine selection was varied. Nevertheless, several issues left us with an unsatisfactory experience. Specifically, the prices for this uptown neighborhood restaurant resembled downtown prices with little justification: for example, dinner portions were very small (salad 3 oz) for $11 and small octopus $17. Also service was slow and inattentive; and no free bread was offered with the entree. The next time we go to dine before a show at the Gala Hispanic Theater, we will find another restaurant.
The variety and value of their brunch is fantastic.
Kapnos was highly recommended by our hotel concierge. He sure did not steer us wrong. The menu was very creative so it was a hard choice. Luckily, we were 3 so we were able to order a number of different dishes. Each was truly delicious, with real flavour sensations.
Definitely worth a visit!
The service was horrendous and unapologetic. They were actively trying to impose a bottom to the bottomless brunch. The food was excellent, but the dining experience is only worth it if you dine a la carte.
Brunch was awesome. Everything we had was great. I loved the eggplant and spanokopita
I love this place! A unique twist on Greek cuisine.
Very enjoyable evening. Food was amazing. Maria was very helpful with recommendations. The wine list is extensive/excellent. Good beer selection too. Service was excellent! The servings provided plenty of food...we ended up taking some home with us. Overall, we had a great evening.
I almost don’t want to write this review because I want to keep this gem all to myself! The food was incredible, the service was excellent and the price was phenomenal. We were lucky to be their for ‘extended restaurant week’ so it was excellent value. My mum was in town so I wanted to bring her to a classy place that wasn’t too loud. We were lucky to get seats outside. The tapas style food selection was great and our waitress Maria G was fantastic and helped us with recommendations that were delicious! All round a fantastic spot that I would highly recommend.
Kapnos always delivers. Tasty food, great service, fun atmosphere.
Overall, it is a great restaurant ... BUT ... the delivery of courses was very uneven for our group of 6 which made it awkward to enjoy dinner, and the manager couldn't figure out for the death of him how to simply split the bill over 4 credit cards. This made the end of the meal feel like a bad dining experience. We all know that the management of this restaurant has been having business challenges at their other establishments, they need to get it together here or they too will be in trouble.
Some of the meats were fatty and most of the food was charred, giving it a burnt flavor. While service was good, I would not go back to this location.
We loved the food!
Food at Kapnos is always delicious. Cocktails are also great.
We went for restaurant week dinner. Service was great. Food came out timely and was soooooo delicious. I took my friend who’s been to Greece many times, it filled our cravings. We sat outside on the patio for dinner and it was perfect and relaxing. We ordered tzatziki, dolmades, falafel, spanakopita, seared lamb, and baklava. I’ll be back soon. The whole experience was perfect.
It was my wife’s birthday and we went for brunch but were forced into restaurant week menu as my parents wanted it. The pork was badly cooked and we were not at all impressed. Unfortunately was a bad experience for my wife on her 40th birthday!
Great ambiance. Fantastic service and well thought out and delicious food. A bit on the pricey side but good portions. We visited for resturant week and were impressed. Would come back and recommend.
Food was awful. I’ve been here several times and I don’t know if I’ll come back
Air conditioner can’t keep up with open grills on a hot day.
I've been to Kapnos 4 times, with family, friends, having dinner and happy hour. Every time it was a great experience. The food quality is stable and to all ours satisfactory. The service was always great. We never had trouble making reservation. The restaurant setting is so welcoming and relaxing for our gathering. The only thing to note is it is slightly on the pricy side, but overall worthy of the money.
I met a friend here for DC Restaurant Week. Great portions, wish I could’ve eaten more. Nice atmosphere, great service. Will have to come here on a regular day to see if there is a difference.
Restaurant week 35 for 4 course. 55 for 5 the food was delicious. Service was awesome, and I am in a food coma. Fire
Exceptional meal and fabulous staff! Couldn't say enough about this experience. Variety of seating options really enable tailoring the environment.
Very good food. Very good service. Very good restaurant week options. We’ll be back.
This was one of the best meals we’ve had in DC. We went for Sunday brunch. $39 for all you can eat and drink. You cannot find a better deal. The service was awesome. As soon as our drinks were empty, another would show up. You have a choice of 3 different mimosas or 2 different sangrias. The menu was quite large for a brunch. Everything we ordered came out within 5 minutes of ordering. It was all delicious and very authentic greek. We will be back.
I think the food its really standar, as a traveler and food lover i think this place dont worth the money for the food quality! The restaurant have a nice ambience and service
We arrived at Kapnos on a Friday night to find the restaurant not very crowded but extremely noisy - mostly because of an echo-chamber effect! Fortunately there was a table outside on the quiet patio, and that made the evening quite enjoyable. If we had not been able to get an outside table, I'm not sure we would have stayed. No complaints about service or ambience, which was prompt and efficient. The best part is the food: genuinely Greek, really excellent and reasonably priced. I would come again for dinner as long as the weather is good and one can sit on the patio!
My husband and I had a fabulous meal and the service was great. Appetizer was delicious and the Branzino came out piping hot sitting on top of a delectable broth with vegetables. A definite go back to.
The service was amazing and the food is incredible. I have been for both brunch and dinner. I have been amazing at the quality dining experience both times.
Bad acoustic since music was low but the place was noisy.
Great evening with friends. Able to share and taste multiple foods.
We loved this place. The bacon wrapped figs and branzino were delicious. The spreads and salads were very good too. Very nice staff.
Wonderful food great service and fantastic atmosphere the best brunch I've ever had worth ever penny and more
I had heard good things about this place including the 100 best in the Washingtonian. Unfortunately this was not my experience.
