Chef Mike Isabella opened Kapnos along the Fourteenth Street Corridor in July 2013. Isabella draws inspiration from Northern Greece to create a menu of spreads, breads, vegetables and other small plates, including his signature wood-grilled octopus. Two wood-fire grills with rotating spits and a large oven for stone-baked flat breads service the 160-seat restaurant. Guests enjoy carvings from whole animals that have been spit-roasted all day, including lamb, goat, duck, chicken, and suckling pig. Kapnos is open for dinner seven nights a week.

We had the roasted chicken, salmon with couscous and brussel sprouts. Each dish was absolutely delicious. The smokiness in the roasted chicken made each bite delicious. The crispiness of the sprouts on the bed of sweet potato mash and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds was mouthwatering and the grilled salmon was cooked to perfection, moist and equally special. We were in a hurry to go to a play and the wait staff kindly brought our food promptly. I would like to go back and linger to savor each morsel. Absolutely delicious meal! You can't go wrong here!

My husband and I had a nice dinner at Kapnos. We ordered the spread sampler and enjoyed the smoked eggplant spread best. We also ordered the fried cauliflower, marinated lamb, and bifteke. They were all delicious, and the portions were large enough that we brought home some leftovers.

Bartenders are great, server was very nice and attentive, great selection of craft cocktails and can't wait for their warm drinks to return. I do like the food a bit better at the Arlington location, but like the bar and ambience better at the DC location.

Never had a bad meal here. Every time we dine here, we say we should eat here more often. Love the mixed grill (not on the menu - but fantastic).

We went for brunch after loving Kapnos for dinner. Delicious food, perfect service, and the bottomless brunch was a great deal. Will definitely be back!!
