The whole from start to finish was an A+. THe decor was lovely, service knowledgeable and attentive, but best of all, the food was delicious! We chose to eat all of the food mezze style, so we shared everything. So the dishes began rolling out one by one and, it was perfect. We had a little but of everything. All of the food was healthy with a Greek spin, THe serving sizes were on the small size, but the three of us ate everything!

We had: the French toast (to die), the egg gyro, the zucchini patties, baked lamb and eggs, 2 orders of the bagels and smoked salmon, and ended up with the waffles with homemade smoked chocolate ice cream with fab brandied cherries. All of enjoyed all of the dishes and thought this way was the best to enjoy a bit of everything.

Took my parents for weekend all you can eat brunch. It’s $35 and includes a glass of mimosa. The best part was the spit lamb. My mother hates everything including lamb. She didn’t realize she was eating lamb, we told her on her third bite and she kept eating it. One of the best brunch meals I had with her.

My only complaint, parking. You have to use the garage and I forgot the ticket on the table. An expensive $24 lost ticket cost made this a very expensive outing. I think next time I’d make sure they validate and if not, I’d reconsider going at all. Yeah parking sucks.

Finally, a restaurant in College Park that I can take clients to. Like the other Mike Isabella restaurants in the Kapnos family, this has great food & drinks, a fun and creative menu, and fun atmosphere. Servers are UMD students who are charmingly interactive. Two thumbs up!!

I have gone here several times, and all meals were excellent. Favorite small plate is the octopus. However, my partner and I were truly surprised in the best of ways with brunch, of all things. Baklava French toast breathes life into a tired old brunch standard, among other delightful dishes. If you can raise brunch to a new level, you are doing something right! Matthew, our server and bartender was attentive, straightforward, and very nice. Not too intrusive or overly helpful, but right there with friendly service when needed . . . the perfect balance of fine service and food!

Food was very flavorful and well made. I will comment on a few aspects of eating here at Kapnos. 1) The portions are small. This is consistent with the lowered prices for these entree plates, but you need to think like your ordering tapes, and that it may take 2-3 plates before you feel full. 2) The dinners all came out at very different times, maybe 5 minutes apart. 3) Wine selection is just OK.

Service was OK, not as attentive as I would have preferred, but servers were all pleasant. The flat bread is hot, fresh and delicious, so order this with the hummus. Enjoy!

Great food, but way too crowded. Waited 15 minutes for our table even with a reservation. Recommend going at off-hours or on a weeknight.

I was with my son at the Terps game. By the way, if I could have rated their first half performance it would have been a zero. We left the game at 1/2 time to go to Kapnos. We got there. I wanted to order 2 Gyros and they said Gyros are only available during lunch. They suggested what to order to make Gyros from the Dinner menu. The Gyros on the lunch menu are about $13.00 each. To make your own Gyros off the dinner menu $37.00 total for 2. If you are going to sell Gyros sell Gyros. We were also seated in the bar area. Maybe have a separate bar menu that includes Gyros.

I have been to both DC and Arlington Kapnos and am a fan. The food at those locales has always been excellent. At CP, however, we all noticed that the tzatiki was a bit too salty. OK, no problem, but then the roasted cauliflower came and it was inedible! Everyone (independently) reacted negatively, so we left it. The horiatiki was a bit salty, too. Everything else was excellent--the octopus, the broccoli, the eggplant and the branzino was superb! (Also, the water was only filled once). So-- a bit meh. a bit disappointing. I'll stick to the Arlington and/or DC Kapnos.

Annual holiday lunch with a very good friend. Nice welcome. Decent table. It was very loud, possibly because of several large tables for holiday parties.

Server spoke very poor English. Very difficult to communicate. Could not open the wine. Someone had to assist. Server needs training. Blame the restaurant for having untrained staff.

Salads and mains (gyros) were very good. We tried for Greek Coffee. It was undrinkable and weak. Exchanged for espressos. I think a Greek restaurant should be able to make Greek coffee.

All in all, it was OK. I'm not hurrying back

The occasion was end of semester business meal. Brian was our server. He was very personable. The food was tasty. The price wasn't too outrageous. The atmosphere was pleasant. We had a great time. I will be visiting this establishment again. Great Job Kapnos!

We have eaten dinner here several times since they opened, and the food is excellent. This was our first time for brunch. A diner can either order a la carte or from an all you can eat menu. We ordered a la carte and were very pleased with our dishes. The baklava french toast is delicious and a little decadent, and my husband's chicken and waffles included three pieces of chicken. He was thrilled. Our waitress was lovely. My minor complaint was that the food seemed slow coming out but we were not in a hurry so we just enjoyed our coffee and relaxed.

Overall, we continue to be very enthused about Kapnos Taverna. It is a huge improvement to the dining scene in College Park!!!

We came to the restaurant based on great reviews, and did enjoy food. The restaurant is quite nice and new. However, the service is average and the wait staff needs to learn the menu. Also for $21 you would expect more than 2 tablespoonfuls of 3 different spreads, that was a bit disappointing for the price. Lastly, as we departed; you would think as a new restaurant, and passing the hostess and 3 other staff people, a Thank You for coming would have been nice! Time to re-educate folks!

Get the Lamb Shoulder with Tabouleh for the Table! You'll be happy you did. 2nd time here--first time with a crowd, 2nd time just three. This is the best place we have to go out for dinner and drinks in college park so far. Nice waiter, nice people, lots of good things. Is it perfect? No, but it has nice ambiance and some great qualities that make me love having it so close to home. Here's a picture of the nice waiter with the lamb before they carve it all up and give you delicious tabouleh with pomegranate seeds and mint and yougurt sauce on the side.

First time here. Food was all expertly prepared to order and really, really good. The menu is small plates, and with each plate costing an average of about $15, it can get pricey. Do not come here if you are starving, it will cost you a fortune. The 3 dip sampler was very yummy with the most delicious flat bread. The Brussels, excellent, the pulled lamb...wow. The octopus, the beef kabob thing, and the pork all delicious. My cosmo martini, was good, not super sweet which I love, but for $11, it was a really really small drink. That was the only disappointment. Highly recommend. Bring your wallet.

This was our 2nd trip to Kapnos' new-ish College Park location, and we were again very happy with the food and service. Having been to both the downtown and Bethesda locations, this spot is located in the new UMD Hotel, that's lovely, airy and pretty stylish. We caught a slow week for Kapnos, since it was the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and that meant that it was nice and quiet. we ordered the salmon bagels, the spinach pyde and the coffee waffles, along with a passion fruit mimosa. The salmon bagels include taramosalata instead of cream cheese and that's really delicious along with the sweet/sour of the pickled onions - a tasty riff on a classic. The spinach pyde is one of their delicious flatbreads topped with fluffy scrambled eggs and feta, which is also very good! As a strong coffee fan, I wish that the coffee waffles had more of that flavor, but the brandies cherries are a nice pop of decadent flavor. The passion fruit mimosa was a fun, tropical spin on a brunch favorite. Lastly, our server, Nat, was enthusiastic and friendly, which was fun. We'd recommend Kapnos, and will definitely be back again. :)

We went to this new location for date night. The food was great. Loved the tuna tartar. My Cocktail was great. I think it was the og rum drink. Nice for people watching and a fun vibe but if you want romanticwhispers, choose a quieter place. If you want a fun, up tempo place with great food, this is a good spot. Plus plenty of parking and in the ever evolving Hyattsville.

Good food. Great service. Hosted 9 people for dinner and had appetizers, small plates, desserts and drinks. Everyone had a good time. My only complaint would be there is only one restroom for men/women. There was a line to wait for the restrooms right by people's tables that were dining. The restroom had a leaky facet that ran on the floor. The trash can was overflowing and the restroom was not the cleanest. One of my guests had to go out to the hotel lobby to use the restroom. The restroom also was not disabled friendly.
