Kamuela Provision Co. Ratings and Reviews
Unable to rate this venue as it was not open. KPC confirmed our booking the night before. The booking was for a table of 5 people (from Australia) following a wedding vow renewal ceremony. KPC failed to notify myself or my guests that they were not opening on the night that had been booked and confirmed. Myself and my guests then went to Dona and Toni's pizza at Hilton Waikoloa resort. They made us very welcome. I would hesitate to recommend KPC to any fellow holiday makers due to my negative experience. Regards Christine Mickelssen.
Disappointed with the service. The menu was lacking compared to other hotel restaurants nearby. You pay an exorbitant amount for the location only--the food was adequate. We've eaten here many times and the quality isn't there anymore. The monorail and boat service was infrequent.
Our server never checked back after serving my meal. My vegetables were cold and fish was lukewarm at best. I ate it since server never came back and couldnt get the attention of mgr. walking by. I didnt want my husband to have to wait for a new meal to be made while his would get cold. Servers are supposed to check back within 2 mins of serving a meal.
The manager Jules later made up for the situation and made the experience a positive one in the end. Jules was very apologetic and personable and left us with a positive experience overall despite the cold meal.
Kamuela Provision Co offered a spectacular view directly above the ocean waves while watching the sun setting across the ocean. We paid an additional bonus for this option, however that also included some additional menu offerings paired with coconut shrimp, wine, and a desert for the both of us. The food taste, quality, and presentation were all excellent. You cannot go wrong by visiting this restaurant and watching the sun set over the ocean.
We went here for our 5 year anniversary on 10/20/17. I requested the Lanai seating (outside right on the water for sunset) and said I'd be willing to pay the additional $25 the website stated to guarantee this and explicitly stated that it was 5 years to the day of our wedding. I knew it would be an expensive meal and thought it'd be the perfect place for such a special occasion. We arrived to find out that the outside seating was closed (somewhat understandable given the winds), however I was not notified prior to arrival. The hostess said she called me but I had no missed calls nor voicemails. She said it could be open the next day, but I again stated it was our anniversary. So things got off to a disappointing start. We were seated inside. We had a view of the ocean but were not right next to a window liked I at least hoped, given that I said it was our 5 year anniversary multiple times at this point. The meal was very good, however our waiter was terrible. I'm not sure of his name but he was a tall bald guy. He seemed very disinterested in waiting on us and was actually kind of bizarre. While serving our dessert, literally the only words said to us were "mudsliiiiiiiiidddddddde." This was supposed to be one of the most romantic dinners of our life and it was definitely not. There was zero mention of our anniversary during the entire dinner. I knew the dinner would not be cheap going into it, so my expectations were somewhat high. However, they certainly were not met. For spending so much money I thought we would be treated much better. Given the fact that I mentioned to the restaurant on multiple occasions that it was our anniversary, I was expecting some sort of special treatment or at the very least acknowledgement of our special occasion. We received none of this and I would never recommend this place for anyone else.
If you book this restaurant and not staying at the Hilton resort get ready to enter a Disney World like atmosphere as the sprawl of the resort is a theme park experience. From the large parking lot walk to a shuttle tram that moves like molasses opt to walk . The hostess was not friendly and avoided eye contact with us when we checked in. Short wait as we arrived about 10 mins early but time enough for a drink at the bar. Brian our server was excellent but we were surprised that the restaurant menu states there is a $15 charge for splitting entrees...really? This is a deal killer for us as we typically split entrees due to portions sizes. After questioning this the server did waive the fee. The fresh green salad was average at best and the Cowboy coffee rubbed ribeye was large enough to share and was tender and cooked to expectation. Overall an average dining experience and not on par with comparable restaurants we dined at the Four Seasons resort in Hualalai.
Absolutely stunning view of the sunset. Worth it for that alone. Appetizers and dessert were excellent, short rib was good, mac side was ok at best. Wife's fish special and risotto was fantastic. Pricey but again, the view is worrh the premium.
The only thing good here was the view (which we had to pay an additional $25/pp for guaranteed seating) The sunset was spectacular the evening we dined at “KPC”, but nothing else was even close to impressive. The lobster was over cooked, the steak actually was pretty good.
Always wanted to try this place - I read some reviews which were less than glowing, so I thought I'd form my own opinion. We were seated outside without asking, which was nice since the weather was great. The meat (lamb chops for me) was overdone and tough. My wife had the sweet pea ravioli which she liked. Not the place to go if you're on a budget.
Beautiful setting overlooking the ocean with nice breezes. Excellent service. Food was very good. I had wxcellent oysters although $21 for 4 oysters is a bit much even for Hawaii. Their fish special in a tamarind sauce (tastes like teriyaki sauce) was tasty but too salty. Overall a lovely dining experience (especially if someone else picks up the tab.)
Celebrating our wedding anniversary/long-awaited honeymoon. Outstanding service by Robin. Everything was excellent from the salad to the entrée and wine to the dessert. Additionally we were treated to the most majestic and captivating sunset I've ever seen.
Arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. The table they put us at was in a HORRIBLE location - in a very noisy walk way between the bar & restaurant area, right across from door to Ladies room, door to kitchen and servers station. When we asked for a better table they did move us. If we hadn’t been moved, we were ready to leave and go to a different restaurant- it was that bad. Fortunately we were moved to a much nicer table. Server, Linda, was great. We ordered NY steak and ribeye. Both were excellent, very tender.
We were seated over an hour after our reservation and the food was overpriced for the terrible quality. Not even any type of compensation from management for the inconvience that we experienced. We had an activity scheduled after our dinner and we missed it waiting to be seated
Wife ordered Mahi-Nahi which was exceptional. I ordered Lobster/Shrimp Bisque and Short Ribs. The Bisque was excellent but the Short Ribs were very dry and not very good. The atmosphere (outside table overlooking the ocean) was exceptional. I would eat there again but positively not order the Short Ribs.
Service started out questionable. Had to asked to be reseated in another area when no one approached our table for 15 minutes. This turned out to be a good call. Had a better experience in a different servers area. Its all about the server here that makes the experience
Great location, sunset view from the patio! The dinner was delicious, as was dessert. Perfect place for a special occasion, or romantic dinner for two. Only disappointment was a larger party behind us who allowed two small children to run around, and had a crying baby that they didn't leave and try to calm down. As a parent, when my child misbehaved, I would leave the table until he was calm. Not what you expect in such a nice, special occasion restaurant!
My wife and I went there for our anniversary celebration while visiting the Big Island. We were seated for our reservation after a brief wait. Our table was on the patio which was oceanside at sunset, a few rows back. Mother Nature is the star here. The management unfortunately dumbed down the performance by piping in pop music which could be clearly heard inside and outside. We ordered the much lauded ribeye steaks which came medium instead of medium rare, and while mostly tender and flavorful, they were a junior size version of what was advertised. The dishes accompanying the entrée were a melange of local island mushrooms and a side of onion rings which turned out to be a slightly rubbery mushroom garnish and dry inedible tasteless rings. While we passed on the offer to send back the overcooked steaks, my wife took the server up on replacing the rings with steamed asparagus. Sigh. The asparagus was dripping in butter, a little past done and each spear had to be trimmed by a third because of the also inedible woody stems. At sixty plus dollars an entrée this was a major letdown for what was to be a special evening. Our server was attentive and did bring out a complimentary dessert of our choice with Happy Anniversary lettering piped on the plate. Good service but a miserable showing for what should be a professional kitchen at a flagship restaurant in a major resort. Don't bother. For a bit more laid-back oceanfront experience try the Lava Lava Club or go to Kona for a decent restaurant providing a semblance of value or quality.
