Food itself was not worth the price: $270 for a three course hotel meal with the wine pairing. However, dining with a stunning view of the ocean and the night sky was special. I guess a premium price is paid for the ambience. It all depends on what you want to pay for.
My expectations at KPC were not met. Service was slow and food was mediocre and over priced.
The noice level was loud.
Our reservation was for 6:30 we had too wait while the waitress move tables to seat us (4).
My scallops were bland, crab cake were not crispy, and Manhattan drinks were short.
I had dine there before pandemic and the service and food was great.
I was very disappointed.
Food was not good at all. Service was ok, I think they were just understaffed. Great view but way too expensive for the meal we had. You’re paying for the setting.
Amazing location, view, food and service. Sit outside. Do NOT miss this experience!
The setting on the patio was magnificent, especially since the sun set into the Pacific 15 minutes after our prompt seating at 6:00 P and the full moon soon shone overhead. Tge tables were far enough apart so we could easily hear each other and not the other guests.
We ordered from the fixed price menu. I appreciated that we were not rushed at all, but at some point, the leisurely pace of getting our menus and bread service was too long. When they arrived, we enjoyed the oysters and the ahi tartare as our first course.
Unfortunately, the time between the first and second course was way too long, 45 minutes, and we lost our enthusiasm and appetites. We were just going to ask if they had forgotten our meal when it was delivered. There must have been a mixup in the kitchen as one order arrived cold, which our pleasant and cooperative waiter, Alfredo, replaced with a new, hot meal.
After tasting our main course meals, the ahi and the ravioili, we got takeout boxes for the rest. At this point, we'd been sitting nearly 2 hours and decided to get the 3rd course, dessert, packed to take, as well.
Our waiter, Alfredo, was experienced, pleasant and accommodating. The fault seemed to lie with the kitchen.
Overall, a frustrating experience. If the service had been quicker, and we'd ordered main courses more suited to our, apparently less adventurous, palettes, we'd have enjoyed it more. It would have been appropriate, and nice, if something, like the drinks, had been comped, but we paid the full fare.
View is phenomenal. Food is very good.
Staff was stretched too thin. After we ordered, it took over 30 minutes for anyone to check on us again. It took over an hour for our main course.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary here. The service was great, the food was exceptional and couldn't ask for a better sunset view! Highly recommend the experience
Beautiful setting with live music, great service and good value for 3 course wine paired meal.
On our honeymoon, both of us widowed. This is “Life 2.0”. A very memorable meal - table by the ocean, ukulele player / singer nearby crooning Hawaiian melodies and songs from the ‘60s & ‘70s. The 3 course meal, which included a few “amuse bouche” small plates in between, was outstanding. A very romantic setting and evening!
We had a great meal and Brian was an outstanding server
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary & birthday. The atmosphere of the sunset view & ocean was breathtaking. We had great service & food. We were very happy we chose this restaurant. Thank you.
Excellent food and service while watching the sunset. Treat yourself to a wonderful dinner at sunset.
Great service! Waiter and staff were very attentive. Food was excellent. We had the 3-course chef's menu. Crab cakes are huge! You can easily share. All of our main dishes were very good. Desserts were amazing. So much food. Sitting outside, watching the sunset with a cocktail and great food in Hawaii...how do you beat that???
The KPC was off their game last night. The food was excellent as always but the service was abysmal, and the wine pairings were definitely not worth the money. I had the oysters, Wagyu beef raviolis, and the molten chocolate dessert. My husband had the Caesar salad, seared ahi, and the chocolate dessert. Our friend had the ahi tartare, filet, and a banana torte. The wines that were paired with each course were good and complimented each dish, but the pours were a scant two ounces. We had to order additional glasses.
We had to go to the hostess desk to get our check after waiting for 20 mins. What should have been a 1.5-2 hour dinner turned into a 3 hr. dinner, much of which was waiting.
We’ll go back because the view and food are sensational, but won’t order the wine pairing and will hope the service is better.
So glad they were open this year! It was fantastic and the view is one of kind!
KPC has been our favorite restaurant for almost 20 years. We held our son's wedding dinner here. The staff is amazing and unlike Progressive Insurance we know all their names.
Really good food and wonderful atmosphere! Get the scallops and pork belly! It’s amazing!
Sunset was beautiful. Very pleased our 5:45 reservation worked so well.
Brian was our server & he was fantastic. Very personable & extremely knowledgable on the menu and resort. Ee really enjoyed talking with him on the history of the property….we both went back to 1990 in our experiences at Waiikoloa & the Hyatt/Hilton early years.
The food was amazing & ambiance outstanding. We also very much enjoyed Joe on the Chapman Stix as entertainment.
food as amazing service was fantastic and saw whales breaching while eating
Fantastic service, amazing food, beautiful views.
I have to preface this with this is the first time I’ve had such a bad experience that I’ve written a review about it.
Beautiful location with absolutely gorgeous views.
However, the food was mediocre at best and the service was awful. We had a waitress that may have been overworked but when we actually brought it to her attention that she hadn’t been to our table in 45 minutes there was no real apology and she still tried to tell us that she had a lot of people she was taking care of. She forgot part of my meal and it took her 15 minutes to get that to me. Every time we asked her for some thing, she would disappear.
After that, not once did she show any signs of remorse and on top of that we saw her complaining to another waitress pointing to our table later in the night. The other waiters around us seemed great and we were having a little bit of Waiter envy watching them. Being a waiter is a hard job and there are many people around that are really good at it.
Definitely not the job for her.
We had had a lot of fish throughout this trip so opted for steak and it was cold and overcooked. The dessert was also mediocre.
Only go here for the location and views, nothing else is worth it.
Views were amazing. We were seated outside and overlooked the ocean and sunset-beautiful. We did the 3 course meal and it did not disappoint. Good selections for all. Added the wine pairings which were great too. Service was a little slow but he was friendly and busy. No complaints with waiting when you have that view in Hawaii. Overall, fully recommend and we will be back!
Great food, service and ambience. Only thing to comment on negatively - we were only able to book a reservation for 715p but we were there an hour early and our table sat empty.
Over worked staff, slow service and food. Food overpriced
Such a beautiful sunset! Ambiance was amazing. Food was great. A bit pricey but worth it. A wonderful splurge!
Check in process was pleasant, Duane checked us in and asked us to wait at the bar. 5 min wait time until we were taken to our table. Beautiful views on the terrace overlooking the ocean, sunset was spectacular. Server romel was courteous and pleasant. Knowledgeable and attentive. The meal was excellent. Tuna tartar, crab cake, kanpachi, heirloom tomatoes. Filet, seafood boil and wagyu ravioli. Lava cake sorbet and carrot cake for desert. Everything was very good.
Service was glacial paced. Three and a half hours for dinner. Food and setting was great.
Amazing! The service, the food all amazing!
We got the chefs menu ocean front dining. It’s a 3 course meal for $85 a person. The food was delicious but the service was terrible. There was an hour wait between our appetizer course and entree course. We did not see our waiter once during that hour. He did not check on us, tell us he was sorry for the delay, nothing. He finally brought us our entree an hour later but he brought my husband the wrong dish. That added another 10 minutes until my
Husband got his correct meal. He did not say sorry. Not even one apology for anything. I’m disappointed with the service overall. Food was delicious, view and ambiance was incredible. Maybe if you get a good server, you’ll have a better experience.
Just a great view, service and food.
A good time and place to spoil yourself. Pull out the credit card and live it up once in Hawaii with a million dollar view.
We sat outside ocean view and did the chef menu. Awesome.
Make your reservations several days in advance.
View was gorgeous! Food was spectacular! We had the Chef’s menu outdoors and there were so many great items. It was tough to make a selection! We heard it was the best restaurant on the island and we agree!
The food is fantastic, the wait staff was exceptional, and the view of the ocean/sunset was amazing!
Not enough servers, the same problem as everywhere but you don’t expect that at $110 a plate. I would have appreciated if they reserved less tables or let me know that it would be extended wait times before committing. Our server was great he was just overworked.
Unreal views on the patio and great ambiance with live music during sunset. Food is very average and up-charge on the pre set menu for not much better food
Were told they overbook earlier reservations, so we would not be able to get the ocean view experience until almost an hour after our reservation. Food was expensive and average at best. Would not dine here again.
Chefs course menu on the patio at sunset. Absolutely spectacular. The live music was terrific. Even though it was right near our table it never felt too loud or intrusive. Once the sun set, dining by torch light was a treat. Solid wine list - although not long had a great selection across a range of price points.
Excellent service and food!!! Ate out on the outside deck. Beautiful view and ambience was wonderful. Looking forward to going back!!!
Beautiful setting overlooking ocean and great food/service. Was a little pricey but was such a wonderful and unique experience. We plan to go back soon.
Disappointed in this experience. Two dinners were fine, but one was (a) not that good with dried out chicken and (b) not as described in the menu. The menu said gluten free, which was great for my daughter with Celiac's. But when she ordered and said gluten free to be on the safe side, the dinner came out different than described. She ordered it for the gnocchi, listed as gluten free in the menu, but when the food came out she was told that the gnocchi was not gluten free. She was quite disappointed in what she was served. One of the reasons we came to the restaurant was because of the gluten free options listed on the menu.
Excellent meal. The desserts were a work of art. There is an excellent pastry chef behind the scenes. The location is great and we loved hearing the sound of the surf. Unfortunately the live music didn’t compliment the soothing sounds of the ocean. For this reason we couldn’t rate the ambiance five stars. Will definitely return.
