We chose KPC due to it's close proximity to where we are staying and the view. We were seated a little early and enjoyed an amazing sunset on the patio. Service was attentive, kind and knowledgeable. The Price fixe meal was excellent I had the fish of the day and my husband the scallops and pork belly, both were outstanding in flavor and prepared perfectly. We both ate everything on our plate. Dessert was very good and along with an extensive wine list we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We would repeat the next time we are on the Big Island.
Food was ok. Everything else was fantastic
Picture-perfect sunset meal in Hawaii. Food was outstanding and beautifully prepared, service was quick and friendly. Live music was a wonderful bonus! We loved it so much that we reserved again four nights later.
We had a lovely meal, great ambience, and wonderful server and service!
Bday callebration. he gave us a lovely caramel covered ice cream cake slice for the birthday boy. It was a bit noisy only because we were seated near the kitchen where orders get picked up by staff. There seemed enough staff but a bit of confusion as to who did what and we ended up waiting a while to order and then didn’t have any plates for bread. Very nice waiters though and kind knowledgeable staff. The dishes are pricier even inside not of the chefs 85pp menu but a pretty good quality meal if a bit on the smaller side portion wise.
Randall was a wonderful server. Food was excellent.
We have been vacationing on the big island almost every year since 2008. Because of the expense, we usually limit our dining experiences to 3 per visit. This restaurant is one our favorites and we have dined here on 5 of our last 7 visits. The location and view aside, the service and food has been, and continues to be, excellent. We were particularly impressed on this latest visit given the obvious pandemic related impediments the restaurant industry is operating under. Thanks again for a great experience!
Great atmosphere, food was okay. Ahi tartare was great. We were too far from music to appreciate it.
We had a wonderful experience at KPC. Our server Randall did a great job of explaining each dish. The Chef Menu contained options for everyone. The scallops and pork belly were excellent. My wife loved the fresh catch of the day. The views at sunset give this restaurant something worth checking out.
Questionable value for the money, my meal had to be sent back as it was cold.
The view at sunset was unbelievable. The service to start was also amazing, but as the night went on, we noticed a lot of wait times. The food was above average but not 5 stars. I gave the value 4/5 stars, because at $85 per person, the Caesar salad we had was about average… I had the scallops and pork, and my boyfriend had the short rib. He said it was dry, though mine was pretty good. That said, there’s a significant up-charge to order several other items. We both ordered the carrot cake. It’s not a lot, and as one of my favorite desserts, I found it to be a bit blah. I enjoyed my wine with the amazing view overall. You can’t really beat the view at sunset!
We checked in around 5L45 for a 6pm reservation and were told to wait in the "lounge". No one checked in on us in the lounge area, and we mostly saw the Kamuela team standing around talking to each other and tasting drinks going out. At 6pm, a couple that came in after us was seated. I went up to the front desk and was told their reservation was for 5:45, which did not make me feel great about the experience knowing our reservation was supposed to be for 6, which was purposely chosen for the sunset. Then it started raining and the whole restaurant seemed to start panicking, attempting to move people from outside inside. 7 minutes later we finally were told our table was ready (there were SEVERAL empty tables throughout the restaurant and staff seemingly standing around doing nothing).
We were then taken to a remote corner of the restaurant not anywhere near the ocean view area we were supposed to be sitting at. After sitting down, we waited over 6 minutes for someone to bring us water. Then several minutes after that someone came in to start putting table cloths on other tables in our area (we had no tablecloth). Then after another 6 minutes (12 total minutes), our waiter finally came by to give us bread and see if we had any questions about the menu or wanted to order. 12 minutes from when we sat down. During that time, one of the hostesses yelled at us from across the room if we wanted to sit outside, and another tried to move us to the table next to us that had a tablecloth.
I got the crabcake to start, which was cold and had zero crust on it. I then got the skirt steak, which was also cold upon arrival. My partner got the ahi and his ahi was gray on the bottom. All 6 of our dishes were probably a 2/10 rating - cold food, gray ahi, desserts not tasting like they are described. It's really unfortunate, especially for a $300 meal.
Birthday celebration which was great. We come every year!
This restaurant really went downhill, unfortunately. We’ve been coming here for years and last night the food was basically tasteless. We had to get a “chefs tasting menu” in order to sit outside which is $85 a pop. Silly and not worth what you pay whatsoever.
Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful views. Alfredo (our server) is amazing! Food is delicious!
Most beautiful setting ever for sunset dining! Food was delicious and the service excellent!
Top five dining experiences we have ever had, and we have been some amazing places. Exceptional food, service, and ambiance. Will never forget this dinner.
The meal was outstanding. Portions very big. Out of the wine we wanted but substituted readily for us. Great experience overall
Best restaurant in Waikoloa. Entree selection is excellent.
Food itself was not worth the price: $270 for a three course hotel meal with the wine pairing. However, dining with a stunning view of the ocean and the night sky was special. I guess a premium price is paid for the ambience. It all depends on what you want to pay for.
My expectations at KPC were not met. Service was slow and food was mediocre and over priced.
The noice level was loud.
Our reservation was for 6:30 we had too wait while the waitress move tables to seat us (4).
My scallops were bland, crab cake were not crispy, and Manhattan drinks were short.
I had dine there before pandemic and the service and food was great.
I was very disappointed.
Food was not good at all. Service was ok, I think they were just understaffed. Great view but way too expensive for the meal we had. You’re paying for the setting.
Amazing location, view, food and service. Sit outside. Do NOT miss this experience!
The setting on the patio was magnificent, especially since the sun set into the Pacific 15 minutes after our prompt seating at 6:00 P and the full moon soon shone overhead. Tge tables were far enough apart so we could easily hear each other and not the other guests.
We ordered from the fixed price menu. I appreciated that we were not rushed at all, but at some point, the leisurely pace of getting our menus and bread service was too long. When they arrived, we enjoyed the oysters and the ahi tartare as our first course.
Unfortunately, the time between the first and second course was way too long, 45 minutes, and we lost our enthusiasm and appetites. We were just going to ask if they had forgotten our meal when it was delivered. There must have been a mixup in the kitchen as one order arrived cold, which our pleasant and cooperative waiter, Alfredo, replaced with a new, hot meal.
After tasting our main course meals, the ahi and the ravioili, we got takeout boxes for the rest. At this point, we'd been sitting nearly 2 hours and decided to get the 3rd course, dessert, packed to take, as well.
Our waiter, Alfredo, was experienced, pleasant and accommodating. The fault seemed to lie with the kitchen.
Overall, a frustrating experience. If the service had been quicker, and we'd ordered main courses more suited to our, apparently less adventurous, palettes, we'd have enjoyed it more. It would have been appropriate, and nice, if something, like the drinks, had been comped, but we paid the full fare.
View is phenomenal. Food is very good.
Staff was stretched too thin. After we ordered, it took over 30 minutes for anyone to check on us again. It took over an hour for our main course.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary here. The service was great, the food was exceptional and couldn't ask for a better sunset view! Highly recommend the experience
Beautiful setting with live music, great service and good value for 3 course wine paired meal.
Superb food. Best in the area for sure. Staff are excellent, food sublime, views the best anywhere for sunset
On our honeymoon, both of us widowed. This is “Life 2.0”. A very memorable meal - table by the ocean, ukulele player / singer nearby crooning Hawaiian melodies and songs from the ‘60s & ‘70s. The 3 course meal, which included a few “amuse bouche” small plates in between, was outstanding. A very romantic setting and evening!
We had a great experience. Each course of our set menu was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. And the sunset view was spectacular. Added ambiance bonus with the live ukulele musician. Definitely recommend.
We had a great meal and Brian was an outstanding server
Food was unimpressive.
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary & birthday. The atmosphere of the sunset view & ocean was breathtaking. We had great service & food. We were very happy we chose this restaurant. Thank you.
Excellent food and service while watching the sunset. Treat yourself to a wonderful dinner at sunset.
Great service! Waiter and staff were very attentive. Food was excellent. We had the 3-course chef's menu. Crab cakes are huge! You can easily share. All of our main dishes were very good. Desserts were amazing. So much food. Sitting outside, watching the sunset with a cocktail and great food in Hawaii...how do you beat that???
The KPC was off their game last night. The food was excellent as always but the service was abysmal, and the wine pairings were definitely not worth the money. I had the oysters, Wagyu beef raviolis, and the molten chocolate dessert. My husband had the Caesar salad, seared ahi, and the chocolate dessert. Our friend had the ahi tartare, filet, and a banana torte. The wines that were paired with each course were good and complimented each dish, but the pours were a scant two ounces. We had to order additional glasses.
We had to go to the hostess desk to get our check after waiting for 20 mins. What should have been a 1.5-2 hour dinner turned into a 3 hr. dinner, much of which was waiting.
We’ll go back because the view and food are sensational, but won’t order the wine pairing and will hope the service is better.
So glad they were open this year! It was fantastic and the view is one of kind!
KPC has been our favorite restaurant for almost 20 years. We held our son's wedding dinner here. The staff is amazing and unlike Progressive Insurance we know all their names.
Really good food and wonderful atmosphere! Get the scallops and pork belly! It’s amazing!
Sunset was beautiful. Very pleased our 5:45 reservation worked so well.
Brian was our server & he was fantastic. Very personable & extremely knowledgable on the menu and resort. Ee really enjoyed talking with him on the history of the property….we both went back to 1990 in our experiences at Waiikoloa & the Hyatt/Hilton early years.
The food was amazing & ambiance outstanding. We also very much enjoyed Joe on the Chapman Stix as entertainment.
