*Due to high volume of requests with food restrictions for the kaiseki tasting course, and nature of authentic kaiseki that has seafood, vegetables, meat, egg, and shoyu – soy sauce, we set up course options to provide better experience to all guests.
• Kamakura Kaiseki Dinner – Our signature kaiseki with no restrictions
• Sushi Kaiseki Dinner – Sushi and kaiseki with no restrictions
• Pescatarian Tasting (non-kaiseki) – Sushi, kaiseki, and sashimi
• Vegetarian Tasting (non-kaiseki) – Our seasonal vegetable selection, no seafood
Two of us shared 9 dishes
All carefully crafted and interesting. Flavors layered, citrusy at times, sashimi tower was memorable, as was the black cod. Great attention to detail. Cocktails creative. Pacing a little uneven
Excellent quality of food, well-prepared, good service. Loved our soup, lobster maki, eggplant was exceptional. Would come back again
We absolutely loved our dinner! The cocktails were excellent. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and shishito peppers as our veggie small plates, the chicken katsu bao, pork belly, and the chef's 6 piece sushi selection.
As standard with all the tapas options in the Boston area, the portion vs. pricing ratio always hurts the wallet just a little bit, but everything was just so thoughtfully made and absolutely delicious. The sushi was so fresh and flavorful. My favorite of the night was definitely the pork belly - melted in your mouth. All the food was on point.
The service was excellent - attentive, but overbearing, and we just absolutely loved the vibe. Treby without being pretentious, not too loud, and a beautiful view of the Custom House.
We are definitely interested in coming back for one of the chef's tasting courses.
That evening I dined on their Omakaze Kai Seki seasonal tasting menu. Every item was totally superb and full of umami tastes and textures. They are do an exceptional chawon mushi. The mushroom soup was astoundingly flavorful. The sushi and sashimi were totally fresh and succulent. I am not so much a fan of their crispy rice dish, but even that was done well. The service by staff was impeccable.
Wonderful! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in a genuine way. I love this place. Everything was exquisite.
Highly recommended. We have been to this restaurant twice in the last couple of months. Food has been exceptional on both occasions; with the staff providing a warm, friendly, and informative service experience.
Excellent sushi. Quiet enough for a conversation
Went for restaurant week, got the 5 dish tasking, was not impressed. Plates were not as unique or flavorful as I was expecting. Service was great.
Thank you for very good food and wonderful experiences.
Odd. Amazing food. Strange service.
The food was amazing and the roof deck was so cool!
Incredibly inventive and refined tasting menu that did a great job of incorporating a mix of local ingredients and items imported from Japan.
Service was attentive without being overbearing and our server did a really good job explaining the composition of each dish as well as how the chef intended it to be eaten. The chef also was happy to answer questions from behind the tasting counter.
Overall would highly recommend this restaurant and while certainly not inexpensive I found it provided great value considering the quality of the ingredients and food compares to other high end restaurants.
The highest attention to detail and most authentic Japanese you will find in Boston. Don’t hesitate...book it now!!
Love the owners and food is fantastic!!!
This was one of, if not the best dinner experiences of my life. Food was refined and delicious. Chefs were so gracious. Highly recommend the chef's tasting menu. Every dish was outstanding.
We had only a sashimi lunch and dessert but the fish was fresh and tasty “, the sake was delicious, the service was friendly and there was an excellent dessert. We enjoyed it and will come back.
Outstanding meal. We made a reservation with the intention of ordering the 10-course kaiseki dinner. When we asked for it, though, our server Leroy told us that there was only a single 7 p.m. sitting for that dinner on weekdays, and asked whether we wanted to wait the hour+ until 7. We did not, but were disappointed. Leroy recreated the whole 10-course dinner for us, including excellent sake and one rice wine pairings. Every course was presented beautifully and prepared perfectly. The chef-owner came over to greet us. The whole staff was gracious, efficient, and professional. The setting is beautiful. Absolutely outstanding dinner out.
Kamakura is an authentic Japanese restaurant located in a convenient Boston location. When I ate there I felt like I was in Japan.
Fabulous Food BUT very (!) small portions. This is a place I’d rather recommend for a drink and luxurious appetiser unless you are willing to spend a lot.
An oasis in downtown Boston. Delicious food; great ambience.
Had lunch and it was a good experience. Wish had a bigger lunch menu. Very nice ambiance. Wish them all the best. Will be back.
Service was so slow! Had to ask for menu 3 times and they forgot one of our dishes. Had to ask for check to rush out for an event since we waited 45 minutes to get a menu.
The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious and the after dinner views from the roof deck were incredible.
One of the best kaiseki meals in Boston.
Unfortunately, service was a bit marred the night we went because there was a company party that ate up a lot of the kitchen capacity so the pacing of the various dishes wasn't great.
Terrific lunch offerings; fantastic service; nice ambiance. Power lunch indeed!
Great dinner place. All four of us had a fantastic dinner. We were not rushed and the meal was brilliant. We will definitely visit again when we return to Boston
Solid food and great room. Price points a bit much, however. Good place for business lunch on the corporate card
The Kaiseki tasting menu at the chefs counter was a great experience. Every dish was superb. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He also showed us the rooftop bar area which was not open that day after our dinner. Will definitely go back.
The food was ok but definitely not worth the price. They seem amateurs who are trying very hard but they have a lot more to learn especially when it comes to service in a place with $$$$ prices. I suggest the manager to go to a very close by sushi restaurant ( the name starts with a P) to learn a little from them.
The food was fabulous, the people were extremely accommodating (when we brought a 4 year old with a less refined pallet) , and the restaraunt was perfect. Check out the 7th floor bar!
Kaiseki was such a special treat. Authentic. Fresh. Delicious. Service was excellent with server providing good explanation for dish item ingredients and preparation.
The food was exquisite with service to match. Being able to have dessert (also out of this world) and drinks (from the seasonal menu) on the roof deck was an added bonus. Will be back. Again. and again.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...owner’s wife was awesome! She lifts up the energy in the entire place.
The food is lacking flavor.
My buddy and I came here and sadly forgot to grab drinks at the upstairs bar! The food was good and the ambiance is on point. Love how close it is to the train.
Amazing food, attentive service, tremendous response to dietary restrictions and allergies. Really creative dishes with top quality fish (and succulent duck!). This restaurant is gorgeous and one of our new favorites.
Good food. Small portions. A bit expensive
Best duck we’ve ever had.
Overall it's a nice place and great service but the food is alright. In my personal opinion, it's overpriced for the quality of food
Kamakura Bento box Ruby was great, so authentic just like we were back in Tokyo! and Lychee Collins was pretty, refreshing drinks, everything was just perfect. Can't wait for next time.
