   Great place if you want to be in a party setting. It is loud. Food unfortunately wasn’t the greatest you can tell in the guacamole they use the old chick pea trick to add volume and cut back on costs. Drink selection is decent and the drinks are good but not hard hitting which means you’ll be spending more than you’d think to get a good buzz.

   Made reservations at 9:15pm didn’t get seated until 10:30pm. Or appetizer and dinner arrived before any beverages, no utensils with our food and waited another 15 minutes for the utensils. Food was cold and we were charged for drinks that never arrived at our table. We went to the front to pay and the girls called their manager Miguel who was busy conversating with guest at the bar. Overall I’d never go back to this location and making reservations was completely pointless and a total waste of time.

   Having a reservation did nothing. We had a reservation and arrived on time. We then waited 15 min after the reservation and when I went to ask the host all she kept saying was we were next…20 min later i go back to host and went to ask how much longer because we were now 30 min over our reservation time…we finally got seated 10 min after that. Food came out fast which we loved but our first round of drinks to almost 20 min to come out then we ordered a second round which took literally 30 min, still hadn’t got them so we just cancelled… Definitely feels the bar prioritizes the people sitting there then the people actually dining…

   Our first time dining here. The food was great & a nice twist on Mexican food. Our problem was it was Cinco de Mayo & way too crowded. Took us an hour to get seated even though we had a reservation. Ordered Drinks when we sat down but we didn’t get them. Appetizer took about a half hour before we got it & I had to ask what happened to our drinks. Finally got drinks. Entrees didn’t take as long. I definitely want to return for the food but will choose to return when it’s not so busy so I can enjoy the experience.

    I made my reservation day of! When we goth there i Was told same day online reservation were not available. We were seated with not that long if a wait. But if that's not an option then why offer reservation online for same day

    I took out my husband out for his birthday, he wanted something casual with some tequila and tacos. Being that it was taco Tuesday we started with off with that and a flight of their famous margaritas. Yum!!no complaints there, but the service was horrible and the tacos asada was not good at all! I’ve been here on many occasions before I am a loyal customer and was very disappointed and embarrassed because it was his first time and was to say the least mediocre. We felt we were being rushed out by waitress and she was very rude. I will NOT be returning to this particular location but overall Kalaveras will have my business in another city unfortunately.

    I love the way the restaurant is decorated it’s really pretty inside they make great food and really good drinks. The food is expensive most of the stuff on there. It’s all a cart so there’s not a lot of meals together but they do have a really good happy hour.

    The food was very good. A bit pricey but the portions are good. We didn’t get any alcoholic drinks and the tab still came to $75 before tip and there were only two of us. And one of us got soup as our main entree. We split one appetizer. Plenty of staff that’s for sure. Not sure how they have so many and other restaurants are struggling. Makes you wonder… it took a while to get the tab as well. it is loud with music videos almost night clubby at 5:30pm!

    My open table reservation was not honored and I had to wait 45 mins for a table. The hostess was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Because it was a Saturday night I figured I’d have to drive somewhere else just so just have to wait again so my party decided to stay. It took way too long to get our drinks at the bar after we ordered them and my shot had a gnat floating around in it. Disgusting. The ceviche we ordered was so gross also not even chopped how ceviche normally is and was served warm. Our server hardly came back to our table we had to get up to get utensils extra naps to get our check to get boxes and one person didn’t even get there food for 5 mins after us we had to ask 2 other people to bring her the order. I will never come back here and I’m extremely disappointed in how poorly managed this restaurant is. And the fact that I made a reservation and still had to wait 45 mins to have a terrible dining experience. I walked out mad and I’m still mad.

    I love Kalaveras and have been to many locations but the Pasadena location was very off-putting. They were rushing us, the music kept cutting off and on inconsistently, and we were given our check when we weren’t even halfway finished. The food and drinks were great, just very disappointed on the service.

    Kalaveras is a chain of modern Mexican cuisine restaurants and its quality is reliably good. The menu offers a great variety of both traditional and more trendy dishes with a good balance of small and large plates. The preparation and presentation are talented and pleasing.

    I made a reservation on open table and when we got there, the host said we are treating it like a walk in because I did the reservation an hour before through open table. If you don't honor the reservation, then you shouldn't be on open table or you could've called and said sorry we can't take your reservation because it's an hour away and you are really busy lol

    We have a mixed review ! The ambiance and service at Kalaveras were excellent. Super friendly and quick service, that was great. The tacos, burrito, and drinks were all very good. We especially enjoyed the mushroom tacos! The only thing that needs an upgrade is the guacamole, which we felt had no flavor, even a sprinkle of salt and some lime juice would have been welcomed. Also, the beans were lackluster as well. Amp up the seasoning on those 2 classics, and the whole meal would have been super! The music was overwhelming, which knocked down the ambiance score. Just a notch down would have helped us have a great overall experience.

    Its was our second time back and we still love this place. The food is really delicious with large portions. Service is very good and our host was very attentive. Drinks (had the Kalaveras Margarita) was yummy and the bartender was very accommodating offering to purchase our favorite whiskey so we can have it next time we are back (because we will definitely be back). The restaurant is very bright and colorful with the painted walls and they have TVs all over that play music and make it into a fun atmosphere. I highly recommend Kalaveras - Pasadena.

    Unique ambiance. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars all around was because of one small personal detail. In the open table request it asked if there was any special occasion to notate. I mentioned it was my 6 year anniversary and requested something special be done to dress up the table (a few fake flowers would've been fine). I wanted to make my girlfriend feel a little special. There were so many big birthday announcements with songs/cheering (at least half a dozen) I thought maybe at one point they would come over to our table with a small token to acknowledge the special day so I somewhat waited with slight anticipation. But nothing ever happened. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything but It would have been a nice intimate touch to add to the roses and card I gave her before we left the house to go to dinner. Otherwise the food, drinks and service was great. The constant birthday celebrations were a little much since it got so loud we couldn't talk, but I get it, other people are celebrating their special days too.

    We had a great time, place is fun & lively…food was OK. The guacamole had no taste, same with the salad dressing. The Barbacoa taco had a huge greasy spot you couldn’t chew. Drinks were great though. We had the pineapple margarita & the spicy cucumber margarita.

    Almost complete opposite from our experience at their Santa Monica location. Santa Monica location the food was great. Ordered a number of the same dishes at the Pasadena location and it was just not good, not even made the same. Menu items at Pasadena did not have some of the items that was on the menu at Santa Monic. So glad we went to the Santa Monica location first. Going to a restaurant like this you want consistency between the location and that just was not the case with Pasadena.

    Extremely bad service. Order 4 tacos, pasta a la diabla, and a molcajete. I never received my order of pasta. When I asked about my order of pasta after waiting over 30 minutes. The waitress responded that there was a mix up in the kitchen and if I still wanted the order. My family had already finished eating so I said no to the pasta. She simply said sorry. She was very inattentive. Common sense would be to ask if I had received my order yet? After she took the order and everyone received their plates. It was the first and last time that I will dine there. Thank you for the wonderful experience and food. Oh wait I never got to taste the food because I never received my plate!
