Kai Japanese Restaurant is an upscale and absolutely beautiful Japanese eatery. This elegant restaurant has an ultra-modern and moody dining room, with dim red lights and hanging beads that set the tone for an incredibly intimate and romantic setting. Kai aims to be one of the premiere destinations to impress a date with both amazing food and ambiance.Kai's menu begins with starts like wok-fired edamame in a zesty house sauce, pork and vegetable egg rolls and Japanese misoyaki black cod that has been marinated for over 24 hours. The majority of the main courses are sushi, with the specialties of the house being the unique rolls the kitchen has created some of these include the Dante's Peak, which is a California roll topped with grilled scallops, crab and fontina as well as the Kai confidential made with a crab roll that is topped with jalapeño, spicy tuna and mayo.

Wow! Chic and hip atmosphere. Low lighting and unique decor perfect for a date but also separate seating for small groups for parties. The sishi was superb and I like to think I'm a tough critic. The service was outstanding. What an awesome hidden gem in Springfield Missouri!
