great food, great vibes, always a fun time. super clean as well
Perfect for outdoor dining!
Amazing experience. Literally had everything you could want... outdoor spread out dining (COVID friendly), great drinks, great food, fun atmosphere.
Just great chill place. Service is awesome. Fun for families or just a place to have a relaxing evening.
Onion rings/ calamari were very cold.
On the whole good. Except when we sat down we were told we had to leave in 1.5hrs. Then they took 30mins to take our order and supply first drinks
Now that I’ve been there for dinner, I do not think I will go back. The tables for 2 are way too small and the area is too dark to see the menu or the food. The table I was seated at was very small and slanted. The size of it is probably only good for cocktails, not a meal. At times, I had to put some of my cups and dishes on a table nearby or under my seat. It was not very comfortable at all! I had to use a cell phone just to see my food and menu. The service was great so no complaints on that. The food was good, especially the garlic edamame, but lack of table space really took away from the experience. They really need to work on their evening lighting and seating accommodations. Perhaps larger table space and some lights hung up in the trees.
I would recommend this place for lunch or early evening, and go with a larger party so you're not stuck on the little table.
Wonderful always! Best staff great food and ambiance and they have Tuesday's as local nights to save 15%!
Great ambiance, excellent food. Outstanding service. A little escape, and the entire dining area is outdoors.
Very cute tiki patio set up, enjoyed the ambiance for sure! I would defenitely go back for another date night or to have good tiki drinks with friends. Tiki drinks are great, food was okay. I ordered short ribs and they were overcooked for my taste but sides were decent. I was not asked how I wanted them cooked. My fiance had the spam grilled cheese sandwich with fries and he said it was decent too. Inspired us to try and make some at home! Tried one of the sushi rolls (which all seemed to be CA rolls with different toppings) with baked salmon on top and it was average tasting for us. Service was good. We made reservations ahead of time and were seated right away when we got there. Waitress was curtious and attentive. Overall, food 3/5 stars, drinks 5/5, service 5/5, ambiance 5/5. I would recommend to check out :)
Had great experience super cozy and delicious food will go again !
I think our server overcharged us; she did retrieve the bill to adjust it as she left a round of drinks off.
She seemed distracted. With fewer tables/customers, I'd hope any server would take a little more time and care with those who come in. We're all desperate to live semi-normal lives and find enjoyment mid-covid. We should all relish making the best of our experiences and outings.
In addition to my selected positive review of this restaurant they force you to type a min. 50 character comment. So here's mine.
Fun place for an out of the ordinary experience with a getaway mindset.
This was a fun place! The hostess was so incredibly nice! There happened to be a show on the Monday evening that we were there. It was fun! Service was ok. I think our server forgot about us but we had entertainment with the show, so it was ok. I wish the hostess was out server. She was awesome!
Nice vibe, and very spaced out
The food and ambiance was cool but my server was pretty bland and was really hard to get a hold of for the bill. I'd had a birthday reservation that she recognized and we must have mentioned that it was my birthday a dozen times once we got there. She didn't have anyone sing Happy Birthday or whatnot. She only gave me and the first two people who showed up to the reservation lei's and there were 6 people without. Felt awkward to ask for more. I had three or four less people show up to my party so we might have been able to sat closer to the dancing, but she didn't offer to move us, either. When I ate lunch a few hours before at another restaurant, the waiters all sang happy birthday and gave me a free dessert, and that wasn't even for my party that I had friends there to celebrate for. :/
Food and atmosphere was great. Drinks were just OK, nothing amazing and not very strong .
Wonderful! Great fish, great service.
Great Service and great Sushi!! Love the outdoor, tropical, tiki atmosphere.
Food really not that great. Meat was poorly cut with small bits of bone, very chewy. Would've been good to know that there was a burlesque hula show scheduled, as we would've eaten elsewhere.
Great waiter and great experience thank you
This is a lovely restaurant for outdoor dining, but has very little seating inside. Parking is also an issue - be prepared for street parking and a possible 2-block walk. The food was delicious and unique.
What a fun find! From the street, you would never know that stepping inside would lead you to a tropical oasis. There is indoor and outdoor seating with options ranging from a wide open area where you can celebrate with friends to quiet little enclosed tables for an intimate meal. You can order from the extensive sushi menu, appetizers, sandwiches as well as entrees. The choices are almost overwhelming . Although the menu is predominately seafood oriented, there is something for everyone.
In a nutshell, the atmosphere was nice, the food was either good or not-so-great depending on the dish, and the service was okay.
We waited at the front where there was a sign to wait to be seated, but there was no receptionist. There was another couple in front of us holding a baby. After about 5-10 minutes, I felt bad for them and walked inside to find someone. A waitress eventually found the receptionist.
We had the Reef Salad, Tempura Avo, Spam Musubi, and Edamame in Garlic Volcano Dressing.
The Tempura Avo and the Spam Musubi were good, the Volcano Edamame was great, the Reef Salad was sub-par. The seafood in the salad was barely defrosted, limp and soggy. We really should have sent it back but we were in a rush so we just ate the veggies.
The service was not bad, not good. We had to flag someone down for water, to order and for the check. No one every came by just to ask how we were doing, but when we flagged someone down, they were polite.
The atmosphere was really nice though. It was a bit cold, because it's outside. I definitely wouldn't come if it is a cold evening or if it's raining because there is no covering except directly over the tables themselves. But during a nice day or a warm evening, it would be pleasant.
Absolutely love this place! The service is wonderful, the sushi is lovely, and the whole tiki vibe is perfect. Every time I go, I just want to stay longer.
Very delicious. Will be back soon. Just wish there was parking, but we loved it. Hoping to be back on a Sunday or Monday to see the dancers.
My husband and I ate there last Saturday night with a young couple and their 2 small children. Our waitress, Meaghan, was very nice and very accommodating. I’m not a sushi fan, but the rest of my party were. They all raved about the sushi and said the sashimi was the best they ever tasted. My lobster salad sandwich was fantastic. We all loved the ambiance, and will definitely go back.
We truly enjoyed our food and service was great.
It really felt like we were in Hawaii.
We’ll be back.
Such a cool atmosphere. Outdoor dining. Pulled pork is very tasty. Not a fish eater, but friends enjoyed the mussels.
Delightful Hawaiian ambience, very good food, altogether enjoyable!
Love this place...only complain... good luck with Parking
Great for families. We were there for Sunday Luau, which featured dancers, and it was so much fun.
Good cocktails and great Kahlua pork!
This place is great. Almost all outdoors, so go on a nice day. Everyone is very friendly and the food is great. The drinks are festive and not too expensive for big Hawaiian style drinks. Overall a great experience.
The service was a bit erratic, the decor dated and unfortunately we received our appetizer well after we had received our entrees.
However, the food was delicious which kind of made up for the aforementioned flaws.
My family loves this place! The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is so welcoming. It's a restaurant between two buildings all decked out tiki style with torches, picnic tables, coy pond tons of great touches to make it cozy and fun. Feels like a mini Hawaiian getaway in North Hollywood! Definitely worth checking out.
Food and drinks were awesome. Cool looking place too. All outdoor seating. It had waterfalls and fire pits for ambience. However, every once in a while it smelt horrible, like sulfur or stagnant water. We got 3 water refills while we were there but no one ever asked if we wanted another round of drinks. Maybe something was going on that I didn’t see but we were there 2 hours and only got 1 drink per person.
My birthday! Made reservation day of. Was not a problem. Food was delicious. SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL! Katie/Kate was amazing. Overall was so happy
Came here after seeing good reviews on the fish (which I found surprising as generally restaurants themed such as this are more about ambience than food). I will say the fish is better than most such other themed places, however with the plethora of sushi spots all throughout the valley, it doesn't quite compare. There were several cuts of fish that were actually tough chewing... so the level of chef is definitely less than my general haunts like Katsu Ya and Sugarfish. That said, if your sushi bar isn't that high, it will probably be fine. The creativity put into the rolls' and sashimi dish's compositions was awesome. A+ for friendliness and atmosphere. Just not the level of fish quality is expected based on other reviews.
Will still return for the other positive aspects, though! Overall, still a happy diner here. 🙂
