Kahlo was not bad but was terribly overpriced, given other upscale Mexican options in Manhattan. The prices were sky-high prices for truly minuscule servings of food, and the service was so intensive it bordered on obsequious. Oh, and the table next to us had ordered a half-hour Mariachi band to celebrate a birthday - nice thought, but the space is small, and it pretty much killed all conversation for everyone in the room (though watching people's faces go from "ooh, this is nice" to "hm, wonder how long this is going to go on?" to "God please make this stop" was kind of entertaining...)
Kahlo is one of my favorite restaurants in the Hudson Yards/West Chelsea. The service, food and ambiance is outstanding. We go out of our way to go to Kahlo as often as possible.
Food was bland; music was too loud (couldn’t hear the person you were sitting next to, or the waiter). Too expensive for the portion size.
We were visiting the vessel and wanted a bite to eat. Found Kalho and had a great meal, inviting cute decor with brick walls and a beautiful wallpaper of Talavera tile. We started with drinks. I had the numero uno- a ginger soda take on the Pimms cup and my husband had a michelada. Both were excellent.
The food was fresh, innovative and delicious. Filling but not too much.
Restaurant was pretty empty on a Friday night but our server was inattentive and forgetful. It’s a shame as the food is good but they’ll need to work on service if they want locals (like me) returning.
Food was very good and excellent service
Delicious food! Truly enjoyed the modern "spin" on traditional favorites. Al pastor shrimp tacos were amazing. We'll be back!
Gréât flavors original dishes
The food was absolutely fantastic. The cocktails are unique twists on classic tequila and mezcal drinks. The manager couldn’t have been nicer!! All around amazing experience
The food is so good and the ambiance is beautiful. The venue isn't too loud so great for dates or a place to be able to eat and talk. Service is also what you expect at somewhere high end with very reasonable prices. Love their drinks too
Beautiful restaurant. Food was especially fresh and flavorful. Excellent service and presentation.
Excellent, imaginative yet authentic Mexican food in a lovely setting. We went for brunch and will return soon for dinner. And for brunch. A wonderful new find!
Since my hubby and I discovered Kahlo two months ago it has become our default place to go for celebrations and to take guests from out of town to.
The place is designed very elegantly, and enough space between tables to keep it quiet and pleasant.
The food is INCREDIBLE, especially everything with sea food in it, and the staff is so friendly and fun.
Gonna be visiting many more times to come.
Limited food options late. Service painfully slow.
shrimp dish we had was burnt
it was frozen
brought one dish to the table then came back and took it away
then brought it back a short while after... no explanation
signature guac the garlic was too bitter... had it before and was lovely, not this time
first batch of chip for the guac was not fresh.. second batch was not
overall experience was a bit disappointing. I went back because my first experience was great. I don't know what happened this time
Decor and food was Outstanding! All of the dishes, including the chips and Guacamole, had an intricate layering of spices that had us all "ohhhing and Ahhing"! Including the cocktails.
Excellent food, service and cocktails with very balanced flavors. The space is very cozy and perfect for a date or small group. Prices are fairly high for the portions, but the flavors make it worth it. All but a few items on the menu are gluten-free.
Very creative Mexican food in an elegant comfortable setting. You must try their tres leches cake for dessert.
Thoroughly enjoyed a pre-event meal at this very attractive, refreshingly different Mexican restaurant. All four of us absolutely loved our entrees - two kinds of tacos (lightly battered branzino and shrimp), a clean-flavored chicken mole, crispy (but perfectly tender) red snapper over corn and fresh fava beans - and the grilled tortillas, guacamole, and innovative salsas that accompanied them. The Friday evening noise level was vibrant but did not overwhelm our conversation. Well-made cocktails and service that was responsive, knowledgeable and friendly- all made for an unusually excellent dining experience - at a reasonable urban price point. So rarely can we truly say “we can’t wait to go back!” but yep, we all agreed, this is that kind of place.
It was good place , better like it spicy because for some reason even the lemonade was spicy ha.
Great all around! A new favorite. Only issue: noise level a bit high.
Loved this place!! Food was delicious and service was 5star. Would definately go there again ... and again!
Food was great except for one green rice dish which was bland. We did not complain but they noticed we didn’t eat it so took it off the bill. Great service.
We’ve lived in San Fran, LA and NYC so we’ve had a lot of mexican food ... this is the best - loved it.
Interior is very nice. Food was good but not great. Drinks were very weak and very expensive. Service was slow. Seems to be just another New York over priced restaurant.
I love to meet friends at Kahlo; it is elegant and has the best mix drinks! The staff is very attentive and well trained. The food offer is limited, few option items but well prepared; it is a Chic Mex.
I like the management and a upskill décor.
Service and food were excellent. Portions were on the smaller side but delicious.
The service was slow, our waiter didn’t understand most of what we said not could we really understand him. They screwed up a drink & took 30 minutes to pick up our check & “awarded” us w/ 2 overly salted tquila shots each to appease the situation. Will never go back even though the food was delicious.
Bad service. Place wasn’t even crowded and it was slow service
This place is elegantly designed. Very nice chandelier and amazing music. Music was good and great location near the Highline and Hudson Yards
Excellent food and service. Perhaps the best Mexican food in the city at the moment. Pleasantly surprised with a great glass of Mexican wine as well.
The food was great and the service was even better, highly recommend.
Incredible food, service, design, drinks - everything. Loved it!!!!!!!
This restaurant is a gem! The food was innovative and delicious and the service was excellent!
Amazing service, food, and ambience. I would highly recommend.
We enjoyed the food and the experience at this high end restaurant near to Hudson Yards and the High Line
My birthday brunch was a success
We went for lunch with a reservation, and were seated immediately even we were early and not everyone was there. The environment is just as seen on the website, comfortably bright and colorful. The server was very attentive and accommodating - it took us a long while to have the full group there to order but he was all smiles and patience. The food was inventive and tasty, portions just right.
Always delicious, and a great fun time! Amazing food, amazing cocktails!
