AAMAAAZING foods. The ordering and social distancing are a little weird but really, I'd jump through a lot of hoops for the food and drinks. I'm glad the wellbeing of staff and customers is so important.
Food was good, location excellent service also pretty fast. However the built-in 20% is not called for as we had to bus our table to the other end of the settlement. Silverware was thrown in with the compost or such n no one wanted to touch anything...🤨
We were lucky enough to score a table at Kachka Alfresca the last weekend they were open during COVID. I was so impressed by the precautions they were taking. We ordered way to much food via their website and food was brought out as it was ready. The Poblano Dolma was to DIE for it felt like mexican/soviet fusion.
Really enjoyable, service was on point as usual, and really appreciated the opportunity to dine, but be socially distant and outdoors.
The Alfresco dining is nice, but some heaters would have made a big difference in level of comfort sitting outside.
It’s COVID life. They did great with they way the world is at this time.
It is getting chilly at night, so make sure you bring a jacket for the outdoor dining here. The food was great, but some also came out just a bit cool, which is probably because they try to bring it out in the fewest groups they can. I am willing to deal wither that, since it helps decrease the number of times staff has to interact with unmasked customers. I’ll still try to go back one more time before the rain comes.
Great menu with lots of choices for sharing...or not! Tasty cocktails and cool ambiance in the parking lot. Plenty of space for social distancing or a last minute reservation. It was quiet but that is also courteous to the neighbors in the apartments above.
I think the food is good but the lamb burger is very small. All portions are small actually for the price. I feel like it's very expensive. It was $46 for 1 person. I think that's OK for a rare night out. I would love to be able to frequent more often. Great concept. Over all I like it alot.
Fun place! Great menus and nice to try different foods! Fast service. Will be nice to be able to dine in but they did a good job using a parking lot for outdoor dining.
LOVE the outdoor dining. The Alfresco setting really works. Thanks for being so persistent in developing a very nice experience.
Of course the contact-less ordering system is awkward. I don't like having to give my credit card # over the 'phone. I noticed that the servers place the plates "as they come out" in a pretty haphazard fashion -- looks like they've been trained to put them as far away from where the people are seated as possible.
However -- as always, we LOVED the food! You have some new interesting menu items, as well as keeping the old favorites. I hope the weather holds, and we can come back soon.
Great experience, was our first time dining out since March.
The outside parking lot converted to dining feels very safe from the virus. Picnic tables under canopies without much interaction with waiter contact. Very casual with phone ordering, paper plates, do you own busing of table. Happy hour menu is a bargain.
Thanks for joining us, Marlene! We appreciate the support.
The food was absolutely delectable! And everything looked beautiful to boot! Highly recommend
We're so happy you enjoyed your visit, Jennifer! Hope to see you again soon.
Love the food, not much customer service. Space heaters would be a nice addition. It was a cold evening.
Thank you for the feedback, Martin!
Very tasty and unusual recipes. The outside patio dining is extra-ordinarily well designed and as safe as any that I've been at. The only downside, was that the lamb burger was the size of a slider and in my opinion way too over cooked. But maybe that's how the chef believes it should be made? I'm not an aficionado of Russian cuisine.
Hi John! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. Your burger should be juicy and perfectly cooked -- we hope you brought this to the attention of the host or a server so we could make it right. We hope to see you again soon!
Tables nice and spread out. Contactless service made it easy and safe to dine out. Great food, good music, overall enjoyable experience.
We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience. Thanks for joining us, Eric!
Yummy happy hour. Covid social distance friendly as they are hosting on the rooftop of the building.
Thanks for joining us for happy hour!
Dumplings were AMAZING, we tried all four types and were very impressed with each. The khachapuri was also incredible and the cocktails were good (and very strong). The service was also great, they were attentive even with the no-contact COVID-19 measures.
Also a COVID-19 note: dine-in service is completely outside and no-contact. All the tables are covered with canopies, but it is still COLD in bad weather. This didn’t affect my rating, because I appreciate that restaurants are doing what they can to stay open and serve people during the pandemic. Just remember to dress for the weather. 😊
Thank you for your support! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your dumplings.
This was one of my first times out to eat since March, and I could not have been happier. The tables were well distanced, everything was clean, and, as you would expect from them, the food was great. The spinach artichoke bread was a perfect indulgence. The drinks were quickly delivered and high quality. I will be back again.
Thank you for your support, Joanne! We are thrilled to hear you felt safe and enjoyed your visit.
Fantastic food and they do an incredible job at no contact service.
Thank you for your support! We appreciate you!
Fantastic menu, great service, with the most perfectly executed COVID safety procedures I've yet experienced.
Thanks so much, Jonathan!
They’ve done a great job with the outdoor setup. Felt very safe, though ordering a bit awkward (by phone).
Thanks for bearing with us through the awkwardness! We appreciate your support.
Authentic AND modern. A thoroughly wonderful restaurant.
We're long time customers, in both locations. Love the food and have always had an enjoyable experience and great service, until this last visit. We also very much want to keep supporting the owners & staff of our favorite local restaurants which we know are struggling during the pandemic. So we don't mind still tipping 20%. You should Not force customers to do this - it's not a good look. We were in this week with our daughter, a party of 3. We had raved about Kachka for years. In short, the food was great as always. The service was both non-existent and with came with attitude. We had to ask for extra plates & cutlery a couple of time since we had bussed the prior course. Why not bring fresh plates when you know your guests are constantly throwing everything away - or at least ask? We couldn't find anybody to bring us another place setting so my wife walked across the entire rooftop garage deck (from table C4) to the entry to get one from the hostess. The hostess was taken aback that we no longer had our place settings. We had also bussed our table ourselves several times during the meal as directed but were tired at the end of the meal so left our 2 water bottles on the table. The hostess asked us to turn around, walk back to C4 and buss the table! Really!? That's the service I'm being forced to tip 20% for!? We'd like to keep coming back and recommending Kachka but frankly am reconsidering our continued patronage. Hopefully, it was just a bad night for a few staff. Thanks for listening.
Food ranged from bland and boring to actively unpleasant. We are wondering if this is a placeholder menu for COVID times, but I do not understand how this place has the reputation it has. The jalapeño chicken was on par with a stuffed chicken breast bought from a Costco freezer. The stuffed mushrooms were tiny (menu says large) and I could not detect any cheese in them. Just a couple of small mushroom in some butter with a sprinkle of bread crumbs. Just awful.
Quick and contactless service cleverly using online ordering system. Food as tasty as always!
Delicious food, great service, and good Happy Hour pricing! We’ll be back!
Thanks so much for joining us, Kiley!
Bad food and service, I do not recommend this place.
Hi Olga. We hope you brought your dissatisfaction to the attention of our staff while you were still at Kachka so we could make it right.
Very good food. I like their outdoor seating area they are using during covid. I think their food is pretty over-priced for the quantity and complexity of their dishes. I probably wouldn't return often due to the cost per dish.
Hi Libby! Thanks for taking the time to give feedback. We've just debuted a new Happy Hour daily from 3-5 and everything is under $10!
The ordering process was tedious and slow. Having traveled extensively in Russia, only the names of the food remind me of Russia.
Hi Marina! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. Our traditional Russian fare is still available for takeout via Lavka, our market. Kachka Alfresca is a pop-up featuring the nostalgic foods of Chef Bonnie's childhood in 90s Chicago, using preparations and ingredients inspired by Russian food. If you're after the traditional stuff, check out Lavka! Spacibo.
My wife and I love coming to Kachka. We come at least once every 2 weeks. Love the new seating out doors. It really is a great new menu. The drinks are great and the service is wonderful.
Thanks to you both for visiting Kachka Alfresca! Your support means a lot to us.
Nice area and fast service. They charge an automatic 20% tip which is disappointing since you have to bus your own tables
Thanks for bearing with us and supporting our staff through a pandemic!
Food was phenomenal as always, I appreciate Bonnie and Israel's inventiveness reimagining the menu and creating an outdoor space while maintaining the Kachka experience. I was able to enjoy a meal at a restaurant maintaining proper social distancing guidelines without it feeling burdensome.
Pelmeni was delicious. Bit of a small serving though for the cost at happy hour. I also had a happy hour Coney Island Iced Tea. Very over priced and not worth it.. It was served maybe in a 6oz plastic cup filled with ice for $7. Look forward to trying the dinner menu but might stay away from the cocktails if they're all under poured and small.
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, Kim! May we suggest our house vodka infusions? It's straight booze and delicious.
The atmosphere, vibe, and drinks were super fun and had us excited for the food. We were really disappointed with the food.
Food and drinks were great! I loved the environment and really hope they continue with the outside area option.
Thanks for joining us, Caitlyn! We appreciate the support.
The Covid dining experience was horrible. Order from your phone, bus your own table, pay more because it’s Covid times. The dumplings are good but overhyped. I’d do carry out maybe but otherwise I’m saving dining out until Covid is behind us.
Thanks for bearing with us through the unique challenges of being open right now. We are interested in keeping our guests and staff safe and appreciate your understanding.
Alfresca was a fun experience. I haven't been dining out since COVID, or frequenting patios etc because it's still risky, but decided to check out this new outside arrangement from Kachka because seating and contact was very distant and limited.
The food was good and came out promptly after order. I actually really liked ordering from the site after sitting down. I've seen this in other countries too (ordering via an app or table's tablet etc while you're there) I think it's efficient, easier on the staff.
All around good vibes. Wish they would put out a Spotify playlist or something. Tunes are groovy.
Double down on tips for service people!
Thank you so much for your support! We appreciate you. And great idea about the Spotify playlist -- you are definitely on to something!
