We look forward to serving you and making Kabuto Hibachi & Sushi one of your favorite places to dine out.
Please keep us in mind for your special gatherings as we have beautiful private dining room options available.
I made a 7pm reservation for my partner's 50th birthday dinner. We had been there once before and had enjoyed it. This time, however, after being arrested right away, or take waited more than an hour for a chef to come to the table. We spoke to manager at the hour mark and were told that the chef had accidentally give to the wrong table. When the chef finally did arrive, he did a great job with the food, but he also spent a great deal of time complaining about his pay and his working conditions. I'm not unsympathetic, but I'm also here paying quite a lot to try to celebrate my partner's birthday. After dinner, we again waited quite awhile for our check, which I finally had to go to the bar and seek out the manager AGAIN to ask for. There was no offer to make things right. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Our hibachi chef wasn’t lively & entertaining enough. Plenty of food though.
The food was delicious and the chef was engaging. The price was reasonable compared to other hibachi restaurants. We had to wait 25 minutes past our reservation to be seated but they didn’t inform us. They could have offered a drink or something as a courtesy while we waited since we were on time for our reservation. They also could have told us why and when they estimated we would be seated.
Also we were surprised that we had to pay for green tea but that they charged again for a refill on the tea.
This is the third time we've been here, first at the hibachi. They've finally worked out the kinks with service. Previously the service has been really bad, very slow, inattentive, untrained. That has been rectified completely. Things went very smoothly and it was an enjoyable experience. I am already planning on taking a 10-person party later in the season. Keep up the good work!
Amazing hibachi and great service.
Foods were too sweet and their mochi ice cream was old . I could not eat.
Soup was barely warm. Took a long time to receive drink orders. Our cook was great.
Great experience with our family! All loved it, the hibachi chef was awesome. Definitely will be going back.
A very solid Hibachi option for the area in a convenient location to the Rockville area.
The meal was delicious. Our chef was not as into the performance as some others that we saw but was still good.
Good experience. A little slow service but the cook was outstanding & extremely efficient.
The food was pretty good - typical hibachi fare- but too much sauce on the meat. The tuna and salmon had less sauce than the chicken and were thus better. The fried rice and noodles were tasty. My husband never got his white rice though.
The servers were not particularly attentive or available. We had to look for a server to ask for more water. Also there was too long of a wait between the salad/soup and the hibachi. (We noted a woman at the next table actually went to the servers to complain about the long wait.). The service was definitely not swift. Finally, it was very loud because of the hard surfaces and number of tables. You can really only converse with the people on either side of you.
Our kids enjoyed the meal and overall it was pretty good for hibachi. The space is new, modern and clean.
Your standard hibachi restaurant. What separates one from the next really is the service and the experience and interaction with the chef at the table. In our instance the chef was not very animated or engaged. And the orders got messed up for our party and the ones around us; multiple people were missing rice or various proteins from their order. It looked like other tables were having a more enjoyable time, so just our bad luck it seems with who we were assigned.
My daughter loves this restaurant and picked it for her birthday dinner. The service was so great, the food was delicious and the staff made her birthday memorable. Love this place. Will return.
The place was great-not super packed for a Thursday evening, so it allowed our chef to spend some good quality time with our group. Food was fantastic and he had us laughing the entire time.
It was a birthday party for my wife and it was a disaster. Apparently, a chef did not show up. Instead of telling us this at the beginning, my party and 3 people next to us sat waiting for food for 35 minutes after we finished our soup and salad. Our children kept asking what was taking so long. The three people next to us left. We had ordered some wine so we needed our check to leave. My wife wanted to leave but it was now 7:45, and we were afraid we would not be able to get food elsewhere. They said they would gave us 50% off and eventually the Chef showed up. But he still had to cook!! The food was okay. But, obviously there was no show because he had to rush and get to the other two tables that had now waited an hour for food. They gave us a gift card to return. I couldn't imagine going back there.
Everyone was very friendly and professional. I will recommend Kabuto to all of my friends, family and co-workers.
Excellent spot. Highly recommended.
The ambiance was beautiful!! Everything was perfect from the food to the service. Def will he going back again. AND the drinks were amazing!
First time visiting. Went with another couple, also their first visit. We did the hibachi table and had BJ as our chef. He was very entertaining, Funny guy! I started with an order of sushi, Tuna Amazing Roll - Excellent, I would go back just for that! The cocktails took a while to come, and were OK, not great but not bad.
The hibachi meals we all had Were very good! Shrimp Was perfectly cooked, I upgraded from steak to filet as did my wife and that was also cooked very well. You definitely do not leave their hungry, the sautéed vegetables and fried rice all done on the hibachi were also very good. The only thing that all of us took a pass on was the soup which was included, it came in the middle Of the meal, maybe by design, I don’t now. But none of us ate it, didn’t need it, not much to it anyway. We will definitely go back, everybody had a great time. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The restaurant is kid friendly which is good. The service was good. The staff are attentive. The food is good for the value. I will recommend it to other people.
Very attentive staff. Lovely decor. Parking validation for three hours.
Great place. Lots of food.
You don’t leave here hungry for sure. The experience is determined by your chef and how much you participate. Bring a larger group to ensure you have a good time. Very loud do not the place to bring your first date. The service was weird and slow at the same time. I asked for iced tea and they brought me Pepsi. They looked at me funny when I didn’t want the Pepsi. Overall drinks were not refilled very quickly regardless of what you were drinking. Still a positive experience that I would repeat.
The hibachi was great, the chef was funny, interactive, and had some crazy skills. The cocktails were also tasty. Will be coming back.
Great atmosphere the wait staff was friendly and personable. Would definitely visit again
This was by far our favorite restaurant we came to when we traveled to D.C. Our sever, BJ was hilarious and made the meal so memorable. We laughed so hard, enjoyed great food, and will always remember the hibachi experience!
Tried this for the first time. The atmosphere is great, but it was not that busy. More advertising should help this. The chef (BJ) was awesome. One of the best hibachi chef's we've had. The food was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We like hot sake and they only offer their house sake hot. The house sake tasted like hot rice wine vinegar instead of sake. That's the only thing that was disappointing. They have a nice large bar that would be more appealing if there were some bar tables in the large open area. I am sure they could bring in a nice happy hour crowd with the additional tables due to the atmosphere there. We will definitely go back
We weren't sure if we wanted sushi or habachi so we had to sit at the habachi table. The sushi was pretty good...not outstanding but good. The habachi was mediocre.
The problem with sitting at a habachi table is that it is impossible to have a conversation when there are 4 or more people as they want to line you up side by side. We requested a corner, which helped but still not great for conversation. Consider this isn't a place to have a conversation except for the person sitting beside you.
Nice looking place and service was good.
It was our first experience with Japanese food and our first time at Kabuto. We thought the food was good but would stay away from raw fish from now on. This is a sushi place but you can do hibachi which is more like cooked food. Unfortunately we chose not to do hibachi for our first experience with japanese cuisine. We tried.
The service was not that good though, waiting a lot in between dishes. Our waitress forgot to ask us if we wanted desert and we were told by the greeter she was giving us our bill shortly so we mentioned desert and they graciously offered it to us (no choice though, cheesecake or nothing).
My husband ordered a Cognac which came in a kitchen glass. A cognac needs to be poured in a proper sniffer glass to be fully appreciated.
So, overall I would say the experience was not great but we would return to try the Hibachi table.
Great costumer service. Bj is the best chef !!
And the food is delicious !
Wonderful staff, excellent food. We will definitely come back!!
Beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious. They need to work on the service part. Everyone was friendly but the restaurant was empty and took forever to get our drinks and other requested items.
Love this place. The sushi is amazing and so is the hibachi! My husband loved the philly roll and the mango madness roll was my favorite. Our hibachi chef was funny and very entertaining and the service was great!
We enjoyed the experience. Our kids were very entertained by our chef for the evening. Our only complaint and it was minor was that the whole experience was 2 hours plus which is tough with 2 kids under 6.
Loved it! A great experience with the family. My 5 year old had a blast watching, interacting, and eating. It had been a while since my wife and I had done hibachi, and we weren’t sure how two little ones would take to the concept and experience. Now we’re already thinking about when to go back to this new restaurant. Free validated parking right outside the entrance was as simple and convenient as could could be in Rockville. I would highly recommend this place for a special night out.
Great spot for Hibachi in the Rockville/ Gaithersburg area. We usually go to Ziki, and the ambiance here is much better. Much cleaner and the food was great- especially the sushi rolls. Our kids enjoyed the chef too.
the poke bowl was absolutely fantastic and the sushi was outstanding.
Atmosphere is very nice. Food was just average though. Hibachi Chef put on a great show though.
If you’re looking for hibachi in Montgomery County, this is now the place to go. It offers the usual fare with higher quality and a twist. The ambience is sleek and modern, a nice change from the tired old traditional hibachi restaurant. It also has a huge bar lounge area with modern decor and an amazing happy hour menu. Parking lot directly adjacent to restaurant is free with validation.
