Juvia Ratings and Reviews
Juvia was highly recommended by local friends but was a disappointing dining experience at best. It was a beautiful restaurant with amazing views of the city but the noise level was off the chart and the wait staff was overly attentive. We felt rushed through the meal. The highlight of the evening was the ceviche which was remarkably delicious but from there it was downhill. The grilled octopus was tough, chewy and swimming in sauce. The Chilean sea bass at $43 was a very small portion. Maybe on a slower night this might be a good choice but I won’t be back. Overall impression...Trendy but not quality despite the premium price tag.
This restaurant has an amazing view of Miami. Compared to other fine dining establishments in other major US cities, the food is moderately inventive but the flavors don't always line up. And although everythingvin South Beach is overpriced, the foodcand drink at Juvia is obsurdly overpriced. I've never been served a smaller pour of wine and paid market value of the bottle. Again, amazing location and design but poor value. Wouldn't return.
The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was because we requested to sit in a certain spot they would not seat us there because the table sat 6 and we were 5. However they still sat us in a table of 6 just not in the location we requested. Being that the restaurant was not packed nor as busy as you would think, they made it unnecessarily difficult to seat in a requested area. Also, I ordered the salmon egg Benedict and my food was completely cold. Other than that after my food was replaced it’s was hot and fantastic! The place is beautiful and although the hostess weren’t as accommodating the servers were on their game and gave fantastic service!
Awful experience tonight. Although the food and the service was great the night was really cold. We got a booking but they offer us only a table outside without any heater near. We ask the manager if it was possible to bring one near because we’ve seen the were a couple of tables with plenty of then around. The manager explained to us that the other guests didn’t want to have theme away.... pathetic. The heaters are own by guest or Juvia? They didn’t even offer a coffe or tea for courtesy...
Enough said, the manager should get some lessons in restauranter.
Everything was very good, from the drinks at the bar to the dining experience and our server. The only detail that we did not appreciate so much is the inability to secure a reservation indoor or outdoor. It does not make sense for the restaurant to assign tables randomly without taking into consideration guests preference.
Even with a reservation had to wait for one hour. The appetizers were ok, the main dishes leave a lot to be desired, poor presentation, the quality bad really bad. My seared tuna was a disater of a poor dish, would not pay $5 for it, let alone $34. Extremely noisy an loud music . The service should be said was good and fast. I will never return to this place or recommend it!
Staff seemed to rush us to order food . The waitress said , if we didn’t order everything that minute we’d. End up waiting all night for food , put a lot of pressure on us to hurry , . Service staff was not so friendly , not good experience when the staff expects you to spend 130 plus dollars on one entree and 130 plus on wine ..! Mediocre
We visited on our vacation in Miami. Everything was great outside of our experience at the hostess stand. I’m sure they have to deal with a lot of annoying people but the one hostess with the blond hair refused to seat us until we were all in front of her despite 3 of us waiting at the bar, and 5 of us being at the stand. Why wouldn’t you seat guests when we are all waiting in your restaurant? Otherwise food was great, wait staff was great.
We go to Juvia as a favorite when we are in South Beach 3-4 times a year. And spend about $400 a visit. But we had such a terrible experience waiting on our reservation and later parties seated before us (we were 5 women and 3 tables of 6 were put in front of us) that we will not go back again. Terrible customer service and a million excuses. None acceptable.
Ceviche, tuna poke and chocolate desert were very good. Rest was ok. Overall too expensive for what they offer. $440 for four people (2 glasses of white wine) and we left hungry.
Food took very very long to arrive.
Lastly, coming from (just as expensive) San Francisco, CA it was appalling to see an 18% service charge automatically added to the bill. Nobody told us about it, much less consulted us about it. Would not return.
