JUST Ratings and Reviews
Just when I thought customer service was a thing of the past Just Restaurant exceeded my expectation! Just is a hidden gem. The ambiance was stellar, food was excellent hats off to the chef, and service was superb. I can't wait to return planning my next visit.
Very quiet evening at JUST, as it was a Monday, so we received the royal treatment. Very quick, kind, polite and professional service, great menu and great food. Great decor, immaculately clean, nice atmosphere. Great place for a business lunch or a fun date.
Hard to imagine a restaurant behind a gas station would be such an extraordinary find. Aside from Restaurant Nicholas, i think its the best food in Monmouth County. Very unique menu and from apps to desert, it was almost perfect. However because of the fact that the owners are absentee, their is no one there with a vested interest that cares to insure you have an excellent dining experience. The staff is very young and inexperienced although professional. Despite that flaw, i am looking forward to going bask asap.
Food was good - creative, flavorful, and fresh (esp. the tuna). Wait staff was hit or miss. "Bussers" were friendly and helpful - not the case with the waiter. Drinks arrived way late. Half way through our appetizers, I reminded the waiter that we had ordered drinks and he pointed to the bartenders saying "their working on it." When almost finished with our apps, the waiter finally brought our drinks, not apologizing for the wait, but simply putting my glass down on the table hard enough to startle both of us.
The food almost lives up to the prices (and it is pricey), but the service and noise level (loud, not "energetic,") significantly detracted from our overall experience. A good meal, but not enjoyable.
Always a pleasure to dine here. It was a birthday celebration for me and I couldn’t have picked a better spot. Attentive service by Christine. We were glad to hear that Patrick is still managing. We had 2 bottles of wine, Sauvignon blanc and Pinot noir. Birth were excellent and reasonably priced. The pretzel rolls with the honey mustard butter are a treat! We shared cigar dolls of shrimp and pork...came with 2 sauces..one smoky the other sweet and crab and goat cheese puffs. Both excellent. Three of us chose the lobster primavera special, served on fettuccini. The portion was large with plenty of lobster and the veggies were small and delicious. The other dinner was a papardell with short rib bolognese, also a generous portion and termed delicious. A European touch to bring the miniature ottoman for ladies purse.... We should eat here more often!
The food and service were good once we actually found the place! You have to turn off of Rt 9 into what sure looks like a gas station, and when you leave, you have to exit through the gas station again. The restaurant is behind the gas station. Very odd, but once you get there, you'll probably enjoy it. Food, service and wine list were good, prices reasonable. It wasn't busy on a Tuesday night but that was better for us.
Hostesses who greeted us: Seemed a little edgy w/attitude and not at all friendly. The restaurant had ~6 empty tables and nobody at the bar when we arrived & we wanted to have a drink @the bar prior to being seated for our 7:30 reservation...this seemed to be an inconvenience to the hostess but we hit the bar anyway. The bartender made herself very busy filling table orders and managed to avoid me for a solid 5 min before taking my order- Manhattan was good and my wife loved the JUST champagne (elder added). The couple we were with had the JUST Manhattan & champagne and enjoyed them. Dinner: Both our waitress Jessica and the food saved the night. Beet salad, scallops, tuna cones, and pork belly as starters...everything was delicious! Tuna and salmon entrees ...the tuna was delicious and the salmon was close behind. For dessert I had the Baileys with vodka and coffee ice cubes (I'll definitely be making that at home) with the cinnamon donuts and caramel sauce. Don't order them if you need to share-- keep them all for yourself. Overall impression: table service and food was was very well prepared with creative presentations and I'd definitely go back, but the supporting staff & service needs to step it up. The greeters / bartenders set the tone for the night and in this situation, put the waitress at a disadvantage... but Jessica (and the chef) was just great and literally saved the evening.
The food options were very creative. Mix of flavors. Pretzel bread to start was fantastic. Cocktails were amazing. The service was great impeccable. Attentive but bit overwhelming. The server was inviting. Had great suggestions. Already recommended this fantastic place. Only negative is it was hard to find because it's behind a gas station
I have been meaning to try this restaurant for a while and I'm so upset I did not go sooner! The food was AMAZING! The service was excellent and the drinks were to die for. I cannot wait to go back. The shrimp and crab tater tots were delicious and I loved the short ribs.
