Junoon Main Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
Great experience. Tasting menu with wine pairing was a wonderful find in this restaurant . Every course had a delicate balance of different flavors. Service was superb. Nicely coordinated and non intrusive and well timed. Very good bar program and cocktail list. Adraki punch was yummy.
Celebrating my son’s birthday during NYC Restaurant Week has become a tradition. This year we chose Junoon for upscale Indian food. It’s a lovely restaurant with excellent service & delicious food. We tried the eggplant chaat & ghost chili murgh tikka appetizers, chicken & monkfish curries for mains, rice pudding for dessert. The sommelier suggested wine to go with the curries & my son got a piece of chocolate mousse birthday cake. YUM!
There’s a good reason why this restaurant specializing in Indian cuisine consistently has ONE Star Michelin standing, it’s excellent! I have been here several times, both at dining room and the Patiala room, and so far it’s always satisfying in both food and service categories. This week’s visit though was made memorable by the night’s Service Captain (Jay, if I remember it right). I highly recommend this establishment to visiting foodies and locals who are craving for spice and curries. The restaurant week deal menu is also a steal, among the best offered for dinner this year.
Service is terrible for a Michelin 1 star restaurant. The waitress spilled food over on our table and my friend's plate, she did not even change the plate for my friend. They gave us the wrong menu, without apologizing. Also, the waiter forgot to tell us the ingredients of the dessert and turns out I'm allergic to one of the ingredients. The drinks are pretty good - that's one upside. Overall not so pleasant dining experience.
Went during restaurant week. It’s a preset menu. The food is tasty. Service was slow and waiter doesn’t seem to pay much attention - it’s a Michelin Star, service is supposed to be really good.
Drinks were good. They have a Game of Thrones inspired drink menu. I was impressive!
I realized that it’s over hyped.
I was recommended junoon by my friend. So, i celebrated my wife’s birthday there. I thank junoon for such a wonderful time. My wife was very happy. The atmosphere was nice. The service was wonderful. Though there were a lot of people, the staffs served us very well. The food was also very tasty. I will definitely recommend my friends to go there.
This is my first visit in junoon and it was fantastic. One of my friend recommend this restaurant and I was waiting the day.Very great wine list and lots of choices. We had tasting menu with wine pairing and it was great. I do like spice food so for me every course was surprise.I recommend this place if you are looking for experience. I have been to many Indian restaurants and had the same samosas , vindaloos and the same other dishes but in junoon I got to try some different style food with 100% authentic flavores and aromas. One Point I would like to point is if you want done in junoon you have to change your mentality so you can enjoy something different.
A great service with enough knowledgeable servers. Simply and clearly explained food and the drinks.I was amazed when I saw the staff were clearing and dropping the dishes.Very good experience.Being an Indian I am proud to have this kind of food and Michelin star restaurant in New York. Good job team I can't wait to visit again.
I was greeted by a very friendly hostess as soon as I walked in and was seated within 15 minutes.
The captain made some recommendations for our meal which were completely on point because the Lal Mas, although spicy was fantastic and the Junoon spiced naan...Mamma Mia!, The best!
Once done the server surprised us with our dessert, a shahi tukra, with whiskey in it!, The combination just blew our mind! And just before I forget to mention, what an elaborate wine list, we didn't have any wine though...
Definitely coming back!
A highly recommended phenomenal experience!
We have been here several times and went during restaurant week. Even though we ordered the RW menu, the portions were ample. We liked that they were not shy on serving some items spicy. The sommelier Ted was very helpful. We will be back soon to order off the regular menu- had many interesting items.
I was disappointed by the rigid service and the requirement to order 1 entree per person. We wanted to order several appetizers instead and would have paid the same amount if not more. Either way, it is a pricey restaurant, and I would have expected a much better experience. Drinks were also average and half the tables were empty during prime dinner time on Saturday evening (6:30pm-8:00pm).
I’ve been looking forward to try Junoon for a long time since it is an Indian Micherin Restaurant. Yet, my dining experience was quite disappointing. We asked for tasting menu, yet, we were told that the chef only made restaurant week menu that day. It took ages (at least 30min) for them to serve us the appetizer since there were a lot of guests (coming for restaurant week). I️ doubt how inexperienced the chef is. Meanwhile, the servers were passionate BUT RUDE. They even forgot to serve us with new knifes and forks between the two dishes 😂 What's more…we had our dessert by using the large dinner spoon. I️ was like...OKAY....BUT...to tell the truth l...the food tastes not bad here.
I’ll preface this by saying we ate here for restaurant week, so maybe the restaurant really wasn’t trying their hardest, but I am shocked this place has a Michelin Star. The setting is absolutely stunning and clearly built to impress. Everything else was surprisingly disappointing. The restaurant week menu sampled dishes from the main menu, and each one was more boring than the last. As far as regular Indian comfort food goes, I’ve had takeout arrive warmer and with more flavor. The service was even less impressive. The only reason I wouldn’t go so far as to say our server was rude is because I think he couldn’t possibly care enough to be rude. He seemed aloof and dismissive and described one of my wine pairings as “sorta sweet sorta dry” while he was looking at something else going on in the restaurant. He also spilled some on my friend. I asked him about the spice level of a dish and instead of responding, he told me “just order the eggplant then.” My kulfi dessert felt like the kind you get pre-packaged at the Indian grocery shops. Overall very surprised at the disappointing experience here. I’ve done plenty of NYC Michelin Star restaurants and this was the first one I’ve failed to understand.
This was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I , it was his birthday he really likes Indian food so this was my first choice , I came before him so I waited for him at the bar. He later came they escorted him to me and we ordered a drink before moving into the main dining room for our dinner. We did the three course menu. I really enjoyed how friendly everyone was and how welcoming the front desk made me feel , from carrying my drinks from the bar to the table , to helping me with my coats. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and I will most importantly be coming back!!
Food was very good, but not amazing especially given the price. Was very disappointed that one of their employees butted into our private conversation at the table and gave us a 5-minute review of the economy, how President Trump is doing and even added his thoughts on who killed JFK! Not professional, but memorable...
We had the tasting menu which is the way to go. Enjoyed trying different appetizers and entrees, and it was a great mix of different foods (vegetables, fish, paneer, goat). It also came with 3 different types of bread and rice. The waiters did a great job of explaining each dish.
It was my first time in Junoon and it was wonderful. The selection of the tasting menu was fabulous. It was nine different courses (they complimented one course) and every single dishes were meant to please us. It was delicious well over my expectations. The cocktails were perfectly balanced with spices and liquors. The service was very attentive and elaborated. It was a dinner to remember for a long time.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went for New Year start meal in this Michelin Star reastaurant. We ordered couple of cocktail Adraki punch and 27 West. Very innovative and surprisingly pleasant cocktail. Tried 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course was delicious and wine pairing were perfect match. Saloni Macchi (salmon) was perfectly cooked med rare ( that’s what i like ) eggplant chat was a nice take on regular chat. Lal Mas on main course was fiery but delicious.
Every course of food and wine were described and explained why the certain wine is pairable with certain dish . Service was on the point and very friendly. Overall it was a memorials meal. Also they are the only Michelin Star Indian restaurant in New York and later i found out that they are Michelin Star restaurant for 7 years in a row. Would highly recommend tasting menu with wine pairing ( if you are into the wine)
Excellent place for special occasion and business meal. A must visit
Very exclient dinner. We reached there before our reservation. We had to wait and while waiting we tried some of their speciality cocktail.man it was so cool. Theirs tasting menu is really great with wine pairing .I recomand tasting menu there.Exclient service .
They seated us at our table 45 minutes late.!!! And were rude.
We had a table reserved for 9:45 pm. We were running a few minutes late and called them at 9:48pm to inform them we will be there at 10:00pm. When we got there at 10:00 on the dot, they told us they were just fixing our table and to wait at the bar. At 10:10 when we went back to her, she gave us a confused story about how the kitchen was running behind as they had a large group dinner and it was their fault that they had seated someone else at our table. She once again asked us to wait at the bar and sent us a couple of free appetizers (which we told them we did not want). At 10:30 she reappeared and asked rudely, do you want your table - implying that since we were eating at the bar we could stay there.
We are regular customers who have been to the restaurant at least a half dozen times in the last year. Their service has never been great but rude behavior kills any desire to return here.
