Junoon Main Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
We had the tasting menu which is the way to go. Enjoyed trying different appetizers and entrees, and it was a great mix of different foods (vegetables, fish, paneer, goat). It also came with 3 different types of bread and rice. The waiters did a great job of explaining each dish.
It was my first time in Junoon and it was wonderful. The selection of the tasting menu was fabulous. It was nine different courses (they complimented one course) and every single dishes were meant to please us. It was delicious well over my expectations. The cocktails were perfectly balanced with spices and liquors. The service was very attentive and elaborated. It was a dinner to remember for a long time.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went for New Year start meal in this Michelin Star reastaurant. We ordered couple of cocktail Adraki punch and 27 West. Very innovative and surprisingly pleasant cocktail. Tried 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course was delicious and wine pairing were perfect match. Saloni Macchi (salmon) was perfectly cooked med rare ( that’s what i like ) eggplant chat was a nice take on regular chat. Lal Mas on main course was fiery but delicious.
Every course of food and wine were described and explained why the certain wine is pairable with certain dish . Service was on the point and very friendly. Overall it was a memorials meal. Also they are the only Michelin Star Indian restaurant in New York and later i found out that they are Michelin Star restaurant for 7 years in a row. Would highly recommend tasting menu with wine pairing ( if you are into the wine)
Excellent place for special occasion and business meal. A must visit
Very exclient dinner. We reached there before our reservation. We had to wait and while waiting we tried some of their speciality cocktail.man it was so cool. Theirs tasting menu is really great with wine pairing .I recomand tasting menu there.Exclient service .
They seated us at our table 45 minutes late.!!! And were rude.
We had a table reserved for 9:45 pm. We were running a few minutes late and called them at 9:48pm to inform them we will be there at 10:00pm. When we got there at 10:00 on the dot, they told us they were just fixing our table and to wait at the bar. At 10:10 when we went back to her, she gave us a confused story about how the kitchen was running behind as they had a large group dinner and it was their fault that they had seated someone else at our table. She once again asked us to wait at the bar and sent us a couple of free appetizers (which we told them we did not want). At 10:30 she reappeared and asked rudely, do you want your table - implying that since we were eating at the bar we could stay there.
We are regular customers who have been to the restaurant at least a half dozen times in the last year. Their service has never been great but rude behavior kills any desire to return here.
Upon our 9:30 arrival and checking our coats, we told the hostess that we had a reservation at 9:30 for 3. She then told us that our reservation was at 9:45 and they would “seat us once it was closer to our reservation”. By this time we had been there for 10 minutes, so it was a strange thing to say. We went up to the bar and got a round of drinks, thinking that we would be waiting a minimum of 15-20 minutes. When it was 30 minutes past our scheduled reservation, I approached the hostess and showed her the 9:30 reservation that we made and she informed us that they were waiting on a table to leave so they could seat us. 15 minutes later we approached her again, a little frustrated that we were not adequately communicated to given that we were 45 minutes past our reservation and were at a one-star Michelin. The hostess was very rude and seemed bothered that we had asked about our reservation status again. Once it reached the hour mark, we left. I cannot believe the treatment and the lack of hospitality that we received from this one-star Michelin restaurant. Unfortunately, we were really looking forward to this meal, as we’ve dined here before and had every intention on bringing friends and family back. We will not be doing so.
Excellent from beginning to end. I saw some reviews that this is not authentic Indian food...I am not sure of that but if you want gourmet Indian food go here and if you want authentic Indian food just go to India....it disturbs me when people with no training write reviews. This is highly creative and delicious food. Well worth it.
The food was pretty good but the overall experience was poor. The receptionists were incredibly rude and left us standing at a table when we asked for a different seat (the restaurant was empty and they seated up up against a large pole). Then they seated us right in front of the kitchen where heat and smoke was disturbing our meal. If that wasn't enough to turn us off the wine pours were ridiculously small! Note to diners: just order a bottle, you'll get way more value!
Beautiful restaurant with a very wide selection of authentic and creative options. I found the food just ok...maybe I set my expectations too high. I was flat out disappointed in the chai. I was surprised to receive a pot of tea with hot milk on the side (versus mixed in) and didn't find it authentic tasting, even once mixed. I would like to see more flexibility in adjusting spice level. Several colleagues had to choose a different item because the dish they wanted was only available at a hot spicy level. Most Indian restaurants are more accommodating with spice level adjustments
We loved the food. The main dining room lacks character and the overly loud American pop music felt out of place. That being said, the food was excellent- each dish was very unique in its spice profile and the service was great. I’ll sit in the front room next time.
The service was top notch, extremely attentive waiters. We did the fixed menu for $70 per person, totally worth it. I had the octopus appetizer and lamb shank for main. Both were delicious. My son had the lamb chops, a bit spicy which I like and perfectly prepared. And they have a special naan bread that was some of the best I've ever had. The main dining room lacks a bit of warmth in ambiance , probably would pick the bar room next time. Definitely will come back to try some of their other dishes.
Did the tasting menu. I had some veg options due to spice level, my husband had the non-veg menu. I can handle mild spice, but the chicken which was supposed to be instead of his goat was way too fiery to be able to taste the food. The housemade paneer was a highlight for both of us. The salmon with beets was really really good - we both wanted a bit of crunch and then it would have been perfect.
The service was wonderful. The restaurant was a touch too loud at times. The food was presented beautifully. Loved the chef's added touches - the lentils and the passion fruit sorbet appetizer. The dessert was especially delicious. Really great food, a bit pricey. Will recommend restaurant, but probably not tasting menu at $85/person. The drinks were creative, but also a bit too expensive for what they were.
I wanted to take my family for a great experience as we are all foodies and love trying different restaurants, being Indian we were very excited to try Junoon NYC, we decided to go with there preset menu and thoroughly enjoyed the first four courses that included mainly snacks, but the main course " Laal Maas" a curry dish was extremely spicy even for someone like me who enjoys spicy food, The bread was very average not something I would expect from a high end restaurant and the dessert was not to my liking, overall we enjoyed the experience, great service & Drinks, might not go back though.
Enjoyed our evening to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent. The food was very good, but could have been a little more creative in different variety of spices for various dishes-- needed more fusion touch. The desert selection was especially good. This restaurant is always reliable and delivers what is promised, but you cannot rush through the meal.
We came here for our wedding anniversary. We've always wanted to try Junoon since it's a Michelin started Indian restaurant. We left somewhat disappointed though. Drinks were excellent. The mojito and adkari punch were both refreshing and strong. food wasn't bad . Appetizers we're all excellent(eggplant app, ghost chili murgh, saloni). The main course (lamb rogan Josh and shrimp malabari) were both below avg compared to standard Indian restaurants...portions were also much smaller but that is understandable considering where we were dining. The dessert(kulfi) was awful and not presented well at all. Just two pieces of unappetizing kulfi. We had the restaurant week menu which obviously won't compare to the menu items but I cannot help but think it was a a disappointing experience.
I really enjoyed the vibe of this place and my entree and appetizer were both good. The proportion for both were a tad bit small but maybe that was because it was the restaurant week menu. I went there for an anniversary dinner and the ambience was perfect. I loved that it had dim lights but was still vibrant and full of life. The staff was also very accomading and worked with me ahead of time to plan a small surprise. I would certainly return here in a heartbeat..hopefully the porportions are a bit larger on the non-restaurant week menu.
