Very disappointing experience for a special occasion with family. We ordered these items.

Grilled octopus, toro tartare, chef’s choice sashimi, chef’s choice nigiri, ceviche signature maki, crisp sake signature maki, 4 pieces of otoro nigiri.

The toro tartare although unique, the portions were tiny and the serving method was not the most practical. Fish quality was okay.

Grill octopus had great grill flavor but over seasoned and again portion was nothing to rave for.

Chef’s choice sashimi and nigiri was where I was very disappointed. Again the small size was an issue. Plus, with variety of sashimi, my understanding has been the size of the cut depended on the uniqueness of the fish. I’m not sure what I chewed or ate since there was no flavor and content. At one point my girlfriend asked for the salmon sashimi and I couldn’t tell which piece was the salmon...that’s how thin and small the cuts were...for a chef’s choice? Very sad.

The special makis were okay, unique fashion flavors, again nothing to rave for.

Finally the 4 pieces of Otoro nigiri were ordered because...we needed more food. What a mistake we made. An item that’s sold per piece at $11, I didn’t think I’d be eating mostly rice and barely any fish.

All in all, I don’t know what the quality of Juno was prior to the pandemic, but for a restaurant that’s on many food blog’s top chicago sushi restaurant, it definitely did not make my top list. We came to Juno with lots of excitement and high expectations, but we left with confusion, disappointment and a dissatisfied bellies.

My wife and I have eaten at Juno many times. This was the first time post pandemic. I can say, and so can my wife it was the best food experience I’ve had to date . The fish was very very fresh. The rice could use some work as it tasted a bit coarse The price is high. Overall will be back.

Great experience. Not your typical sushi roll type restaurant. Grace did a great job serving and highlighting great menu selections. Recommend a visit.

To quote my wife “f*cking fantastic”. Do yourself a favor though: Ditch the tako maguro and ceviche roll section. Stick with the apps, nigiri+sashimi and the smoked stuff. Highlights for us were the uni sashimi otoro (we should have had it sashimi as it literally melts in the mouth). Oysters were fresh and almost had a cumin flavor (natural to the oysters) which balanced with the garnish perfectly. The crudo was a highlight as well and the smoked dish with salmon and Yuzu was sooo good we ordered a second version. Maybe one of my top 3 sushi experiences of all time.
One word of caution: When ordering a lot of items be prepared for them to bring them out one at a time. This is not a quick sit and go. Nor should it be at this level.

We went for my wife’s birthday. This was our first time going back to an old favorite since the reopening. It was as good if not better than it was before. Sure, they clearly have staffing shortages, but it did not get in the way of us having a great dinner. Juno clearly is the best a la carte sushi restaurant in Chicago.

I’ve been waiting to try this place for some time
Now and had a reservation booked for weeks. On the day of the reservation my friend came down with the stomach flu and although we thought she might be ok by dinner she was not. I called Juno to explain the situation but they were not sympathetic and said there would be a $50 charge to cancel the reservation. So, so as not to waste money, I went to the reservation alone, kinda a bummer. The hostess told me my reservation was cancelled upon my arrival (which someone else apparently cancelled on my behalf). After having to argue and assure her I did not cancel it, I was finally sat by the bar. As soon as my waitress came the experience skyrocketed. She gave me a GREAT recommendation on cocktails and food! The Juno Queen and King nigiri are a MUST, the otoro and uni nigiri were SOOO fresh, and the Stray Dog cocktail was the perfect spicy and tangy drink to accompany the meal! Everything I tried was great you probably can’t go wrong with anything you order and the waitress was awesome in scoping out my flavor profile for the perfect recommendations! If only the beginning of my experience was handled with more empathy this would be a near perfect one!

The food was phenomenal. The service wasn’t as great though. It felt like they had one waiter for the whole restaurant. They did have a lot of other people delivering food. I recommend ordering most of your meal up front. It ends up being spaced out nicely. Definitely order from the signature nigiri section!

Not only the best sushi I’ve had in the city, but the best service as well. Aaron was an absolute delight and made an already spectacular meal even more special.

Highly recommend the seared scallop, the short ribs, the crudo, the hand rolls and frankly every single bite of nigiri (try the fatty tuna selections and also all the special nigiri and smoked sashimi!) but frankly everything was phenomenal.

Also the cocktails and champagne are amazing! Highly recommend a reservation, especially as the word gets out about Chicago’s next hit restaurant.

Overpriced.
Portions are very small and far away from the Japanese standards.
The restaurant emphasizes the appearance of food with ice, leafs and other flowers but something important is missing: the quality and a well balanced quantity.

I would not recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food and presentation. Very simple and some fun other dishes. They were great at accommodating for gluten-free diet and excited they make their own soy sauce in house that's gluten-free. Favorite things were the Juno King and Snow Crab with Wagu signature nigiri.

Overall we enjoyed our evening, our server was very nice
Our issue was that food came to the table randomly
We all ordered our meals at the same time
But didn’t eat together, our server even apologized for the slowness of the food coming out, but it just got worse as the evening progressed. My husband and I got the chef special and it wasn’t very special, it was very one note.
My daughter got her last dish when desert came.
We spent 300.00, perhaps the cookies ( which were delicious) should have been on the house.
Fun drinks were very tasty.
The menu we saw in line was different from what was offered in the restaurant, daughter is vegetarian, not many options fir her. The hostess was not very friendly and barked at me “ I can’t hear you” the music was really loud and I had a mask on!
It’s a beautiful space .

Food was fantastic, definitely top-tier. Service wasn't bad by any means, but the cadence at which food was prepared and brought out left a lot to be desired, you'd get 2-3 (small) dishes, and then nothing for 20+ minutes. Considering dish size you're looking at ordering 10+ items for two people, and having multiple 20 minute waiting around moments is less than ideal.
