The food was great and very fresh, but it took an inexcusably loooong time! About an hour before we got our first course. Then after another 30 minutes one of the two maki rolls arrived. Finally after another 20 min the last maki roll arrived. No apologies from the wait staff, nothing. Will not be going back.
We loved the signature rolls with cooked seafood and sushi. The squid ink scallop dish was amazing too.
The food was amazing! The dishes are very creative and the flavors work really well together! The server was also very helpful and told us everything about the menu, which was great. The crudo was my favorite dish.
Small portions but great waitress
We all loved our dinner at Juno! Server gave great rec’s, the sushi was top quality and had many unique menu options.
Consistently good sushi. The signature smoked sushi is so amazing!!!
Very relaxed vibe. Our server was very nice and very helpful with suggestions. Would come back.
Was a good but not great experience.
We did Omakase and some courses were great while others were just OK. Must say the cuts and the freshness of the fish is better than I have seen elsewhere.
Also one of the reasons you do omakase is to be able to interact with the chef. I am sure the Chef tried but we were not able to very communicate very effectively.
All in all we enjoyed but thought it was underwhelming for $150 meal. We will be back but next time we will do alacarte
Still one of the better restaurants for sushi/sashimi and omakase. However be aware that
Each piece of sushi or sashimi is priced individually and that this can run up the price considerably. Service staff varies from very attentive to disinterested.
Very authentic sushi. Great recommendations from waiter. Excellent sushi
We love sushi, and wanted our daughter to experience the best we could find for a special occasion. Juno was *perfect*. Amazing food. Spectacular presentation. Great staff. A very memorable evening.
This was our second visit to Juno for one of our son's birthdays. The first time was excellent. This time was good but the service was not quite as good and a couple of the food items were a click off, though several of the dishes were spectacular. For the very high price of the food (the wine was reasonably priced) I would have expected the sashimi to have been a bit larger and all of the food to have been spectacular. I expect we will go back but at that price/experience ration, it will not be often.
The food was not as good as I remembered it. Maybe they were having an off night. One thing I do remember is that it is not worth the money. Not even close.
First time at Juno. I love sushi but maybe prefer more "traditional"items. The food was good and nicely served The bill was kind of high but I guess it was more to do with the liquor (2 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails were $50). Hard to get wasabi and ginger though we asked for it. Twice. Might go back but really prefer other are sushi. Lovely minimalist but kind of elegant decor.
Best sushi in ALL of Chicago !
The food is really amazing here. My personal favorite is eel trio. It's a platter of 3 different types of eel sushi with a tamago. The service is outstanding too. I had a waitress Grace who took really good care of me during the entire dinner process.
Maybe dim the lights a bit for dinner service?
Had a reservation for 2 and we had my 12 y.o. daughter as well, and the hostess made a big deal about adding a third party to the reservation, when the tables seat four.
Then the meal took a long time to get after the order and overall the service left something more to be desired
Delicious, as always. Fresh, interesting and you can really taste the flavors. I love the juno Queen, ceviche maki and veggie maki, and the mushroom ramen. All nigiri are great. Side of pickles is unusual and really good. Also, the Pinot noir and Cabernet wines by the glass are great (all drinks good there but I particularly like those). Nice atmosphere (tables not close together and not noisy, even when full). I could eat here every night.
Food was great, fish was very fresh, but service was slow.
Ultimate freshness, the highest quality of ingredients, highly professional service, unique presentation, perfect harmony in taste.
This is by far the best sushi place in Chicago.
Not worth the money
Great food! Loved the Uni shooters. Very relaxing, easy to have a conversation and enjoy some great sashimi and maki. We will definitely be going back.
Best sushi in Chicago - can't go wrong
Great innovative sushi
Great for date night
Juno definitely has good sushi, especially for what you can find in the Midwest. Their uni shots are really good, and the service staff was great. The only downsides were their whiskey and beer selection was lacking. For an upscale restaurant, they should have a variety of Japanese whiskey such as Yamazakis, hibiki's, etc., but they don't. Their prices are pretty steep, but Japanese food tend to be expensive in the Midwest. If you're fine with dropping $250+ for you and a date, then I recommend you try it. I haven't tried the omakase yet, but I'll have to try it next time. It was a good overall experience.
Food was great. Tried the sea urchin nigiri which i didn't like quite as much but it is an acquired taste I guess. They have A5 Wagyu Beef tartar which was very good but difficult to eat with chopsticks for a beginner/intermediate level chopstick user. Food took a little while to get to table but this is likely because it was quite busy. Overall very good and imo best high-end sushi spot in Chicago.
Juno was fantastic! Every cut of fish we ordered was very fresh. I found the menu inventive, fun, and delicious. This may be my new favorite sushi spot in Chicago!
Always delicious! Best sushi ever! Consistently amazing service and meal. Love this place.
One of the best sushi I've had in the US!! I had the omakase menu, even though I didn't reserve it ahead of time, the chef still customized some 7 or 8-course dinner for me. Juno Queen and King are delicious, the fish for sushi was fresh and properly prepared -- really nothing to complain about! Food tastes great are aesthetically pleasing.
Dined there on New Year’s Eve, and in spite of being seated at 10, just an hour before closing, service was prompt and friendly. From the hostess to the busboy, everyone was professional and kind. The sushi was very good–excellent quality. But the prices are outrageous. This is the only reason I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. The wine is very overpriced, too.
Creative Japanese cuisine. Melt in your mouth Saba nigiri. Seared scallop with soba was a good size and incredibly good. the “king” and “queen” sushi, two pieces of deliciousness in your mouth, cool nori, warm rice, something crunchy topped with slightly spiced choppped salmon or scallop.
Also had all the usual traditional sashimi, and sushi, but quality was amazing. Since Chicago is the hub for Japan airline I wonder if their fish is flown in daily from japan. Much of the fish was sourced from japan and Korea
Go to this restaurant if you want a very special experience with Japanese cuisine. Prices not bad for the quality
Best sushi in Chicago. this was our second visit. Very fresh seafood.
This was my second time at Juno. We went last years for my daughters birthday and she wanted to go back this year. The food is all so fresh, carefully prepared, delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. The venue is just the right size, intimate yet lively. We love Juno!
We arrived and the host was gracious enough to tell us “happy anniversary”. Then sat us in the main isle of the restaurant which was almost empty when we arrived for our 10:15 reservation. I’m assuming because they didn’t want to clean anywhere else. The waiter got our order incorrect twice right of the bat. Which we were then billed for. Overall experience very very poor. Seemed as though they were more interested in closing early because of their traffic. Plus we had to listen to louder employees sitting at a table as though they were already off the clock. Not good.
Amazing and creative sushi pieces, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. The only off item was the sushi rice - it was undercooked (hard pieces). Otherwise everything was great.
It’s hard to say what was more delicious the food or the service both were outstanding. Definitely pricier than I anticipated if it were not for that I would be there on a very regular basis.
Worth the price. Innovatived preparation and the smoked hamachi is unbelievable.
