Juniper Grill - Peters Twp Ratings and Reviews
PROS: Signature cornbread with fresh berry sauce and the pineapple infused cosmo (2).
JUST OKAY: Lamb, fillet mignon, and the mashed potatoes (3).
CONS: The rice, fingerling potatoes, the crostinis, the croutons, and the salad all tasted like they were prepared two days prior and stored in a parked car (5).
**We’ve gone back 3x for the cornbread and cosmos. Unfortunately if we go back again it’ll be just at the bar after we eat elsewhere.
Arrived for reservations during weekend immediately before Valentine's Day. VERY crowded when we arrived. After being told that they were "running late", we went to the bar so we could sit down. Service at the bar was friendly and responsive. We were personally contacted in a short time to be seated. Two (not one) staff members were very apologetic regarding the delay. We were more than satified with their attention and concern.
We came for our "favorite" entree of Wood Grilled Romaine with Salmon. Exellent as always. My wife asked for some additional dressing and it was provided quickly and with a smile. Grilled asparagus was "great" as well.
This is our favorite local restaurant. It delivers every time ---and it is always jumping with chatter from customers who seem to be having a good time as well.
Our night started with a half-hour wait for our table, despite having reservations. While waiting at the bar, my wife ordered a Sidecar, a very well-known cocktail that the bartender said she didn’t know how to make. When our name came up, our name was never called out, and our table was given to another couple who they thought was us, despite the fact that we had JUST ASKED ABOUT OUR TABLE, and they knew we were waiting at the bar. When we finally were seated, the food was just average at best.
Our 6:45 reservation wasn’t seated until 7:20. When we inquired around 7 pm, we were told there was one party ahead of us. We watched 3 other parties seated after that, and one of those came in AFTER we did. When I inquired again, the host claimed he called our name out and we did not respond so he assumed we left. We were 3 feet away the entire time and looking right at him. He never called us. We were comped an appetizer, which was appreciated. Our waiter was great, and the food was fantastic as always. I would think reservations take priority over walk ins, especially on a Saturday evening.
First time at the restaurant. Seated right away. Server was attentive and polite. We ordered the street tacos for our appetizer. They were awesome. We shared the small house platter for dinner which was very good. We also ordered the cornbread skillet. That was very good. We choose to order the chocolate pecan pie for desert. That would be my only complaint. The crust was very hard. It was served cold. It was t very good. Over all was a great meal.
We were greeted by a pleasant hostess and seated promptly. Our waiter was efficient and helpful with making selections. We enjoyed an appetizer of a trio of dips with nachos which were fine(the guacamole was quite good). Our entrees were shrimp and crab enchiladas and fish tacos. Both come with beans and rice cut we ask if we could substitute one since we were sharing and they graciously offered to substitute any of their other side dishes. We one for the grilled asparagus and it was an excellent choice. The enchiladas were filled with shrimp and crab with a smooth, flavorful white sauce over them and the fish tacos had tender fish with a mango salsa which had a little heat to it that blended well with the other flavors. Such a pleasant atmosphere for friends to get together and be able to talk during dinner. This was our first visit and we will definitely return.
As always, a very busy restaurant with good food. We did have to wait over 40 minutes for our table even with reservations but they did give us 1 free appetizer for the table to compensate. Our food was only lukewarm but still tasty. We will return but not on a holiday.
Sat on the porch at 7pm on a Friday right before Christmas. It was very loud but the por ch is always very loud. Service was good but food (sandwiches, tacos) were just average. The BBQ is very good - everything else is just average. Drinks were well made and served fairly quickly. OK value for $$
Let me say I have eaten at the Peters location as well as the Murraysville location multiple times and have always been pleased with the food, ambiance and service. We were seated at a table in the larger patio room. It was mostly empty when we arrived but filled over the course of our meal. Wait staff passed between the back of my chair and the next table at least thirty times! One particular waitress would race past at warp speed such that I could feel a breeze every time she past by. It was very uncomfortable. Difficult to enjoy a meal with people racing behind carrying food etc. I tried pushing my chair back to slow them down but that didn’t help. Two of us ordered the Maui Maui special with coconut rice and asparagus. The rice was cold. Immediately notified our waiter. Evidently the kitchen staff forgot to turn on the steam table. They brought us more rice but it was only luke warm. Fish was hot and flavorful and the portion size was as expected. Received 3-4” long asparagus. It was a rather small vegetable portion- looked more like a garnish. Dessert was the best part of the meal-I had creme brûlée. Overall I was very disappointed with the food. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant but overall it was not an enjoyable experience, sorry to say.
Juniper was chosen for a special occasion - 21st Birthday! Used opentable to reserve a table which was great because it was a 40 minute wait for those walking in, the food was very delicious, everything was good. If I had to find a negative--a complimentary dessert for birthdays, it just would have been the finishing touch to a perfect evening!
We were there celebrating a birthday. We were seated at a large round table so we could see and talk to each other. The food was good and everyone enjoyed the meal they ordered. It was chilly that evening and we were sitting in and add on large room with some type of gas heating. They were large hanging heaters and there was a slight smell of gas and the heat was off and on. It was a little noise but manageable. The server was very good and attentive.
Really inattentive waiter. Slow and absent most of the meal even though the restaurant was not busy. Three of four meals good but fourth meal, a simp,e grilled salmon was so over cooked that it was terrible. Waiter never came around to check. After everyone was fine eating and they came to clean up the table, I told them the salmon was bad. Manager took off the price of an appetizer but not the salmon. Made no sense. The appetizer was fine. The salmon was ruined. Not a place I'd return. Honestly you would get a better meal at Applebee's. Which is sad given the prices.
Food is very good here. Service was not up to par. Our appetizer was completely missed and my son was short one taco when his order arrived. Waiter should have mentioned that the corn bread was an extra $5.50. Made it sound like it was complimentary with the meal. Members at our table were not overly thrilled with the cornbread croutons that comes in the salads. I must say, the warm cornbread delivered in a small cast iron skillet is some of the best that I have tasted. The butter could have been cinnamon or honey infused to kick the cornbread up another notch. But, it was just plain butter and was best left off of the cornbread.
Salmon was burned and inedible. removed from check.
avocado on salad was brown.
Pork tenderloin was rare not medium rare and inedible. Server argued that it was edible. not removed from check.
brisket and mashed potatoes were cold. i felt we were complaining too much and did not say anything.
we were here once before and loved it. we came to celebrate two birthdays. we were disappointed and left before dessert.
Made reservations for 4 at 7:30 p.m. (9/29) on Open Table with a "special request" of a booth. Checked in with the host at 7:15 p.m. We were approached to be seated about 7:35 p.m. The reservation request was not honored. Not only did we not get a booth, we were being taken to the outdoor area which we refused. We were then seated at a 4 top in a congested area as there were open booths around us. When speaking with the hostess about our reservation and request through Open Table she said "sorry, we made a mistake". Not acceptable. The table only had 2 place settings on it, so when our soups and salads arrived, we had to flag down a server to get 2 additional place settings. Three of us ordered the Prime Rib and one ordered the brisket dinner. When the Prime Rib arrived, it was barely warm, more fat than I am accustomed to seeing, very little au jus and tasted mushy. It almost seemed as though the meat was tenderized like you used to get at the Ponderosa. Also, the mashed potatoes were barely warm as well. This dish certainly was not representative of the photos and the advertisements via email this week. The brisket arrived with 3 slices, when we have had this dish before, it was served with 4 slices of brisket. The mashed potatoes were the same, barely warm. We finished off the meal with the hard coat Sarris ice cream, which was the highlight of the meal. I will say that our server was very attentive and tried to make a bad situation into a better one. I can honestly say it will be a long time before we choose Juniper Grill as a dinner spot.
